| 7 Tips on Increasing Website Traffic … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:31 AM PST Sometimes when you run your own website it can be really difficult to attract people to the site, especially if you have just created a new site. Here are 7 tips on increasing website traffic; hopefully these should help the growth of your site. 7. Short and snappy website description
Write a short and snappy website description, so that when people use a search engine they can read the content of your website before entering the site. Normally after reading a couple of lines a person will know whether or not it is a site that they are looking for. 6. Become affiliates with other websites
A good way of generating more traffic for your website is to join forces with another and advertise each others sites. This allows you to receive more visitors and at the same time the affiliate site or sites should also receive more traffic. It is generally good to choose a website that hold similar but not the same content. 5. Proofread the content
It is so important to proofread website content before making it public. In my opinion most people will not continue to use the site if there are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes, especially if simple ones. The reason for this is that the site looks as though not much effort has gone into it and the impression given is that the owners do not care much about what they have to say. If the owners do not care then why should the website visitors. |
| 8 Reasons to reconcile with relatives … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:22 AM PST I'm lucky to have a good relationship with my family, which is something I treasure. I know that not everyone is as lucky as me, and I have known of situations where people have been forced to end contact with family members. However, many quarrels are not worth severing relationships over, so here are some reasons why it can be better to reconcile with relatives you have fallen out with. 1. Atmosphere
It's better to be on good terms with someone, as it creates a positive atmosphere, especially when you meet at family gatherings. Even if you're never going to be best friends, it's nicer to get on with someone when you do meet. 2. Don't Waste Time
One thing that is certain is that family members won't be around forever, especially older ones. Imagine how it would feel if they died and you never had the chance to smooth things over with them? It's worth being amicable and avoiding regrets when they're gone. 3. Perspective
If you fell out over something, was it really worth the argument? Or was it a silly squabble that got out of hand? Think about the origins of the problem, and whether it's still relevant. You might realise that you can't even remember what the reason for arguing was, or that it just doesn't matter any more. |

| 7 Great Qualities To Possess … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 10:36 AM PST I love a person who has a good, strong backbone and stands up for what they believe in. I also love it when a person isn't afraid to let people know how they feel about a subject. Cramming your beliefs down someone's throat is never a good idea, but that's where tact comes in. Here are 7 qualities I believe everyone should try and possess in life! 1. Honesty
You won't get far in life without this quality. Honesty always pays off in the end. I know it's hard to be honest sometimes when it would be so much easier to fib, but the truth is always the best way to go. And having honesty doesn't mean just not telling lies. Be an honest person. You won't regret it! 2. Friendliness
If you want friends, you must be a friend. So show yourself to be friendly! Make the first move. Start a conversation with somebody, or simply smile and acknowledge his or her presence. You may be surprised by how people will open up to you if you give them a chance! 3. Willingness
Always have a willing heart. Be willing to try new things, or put yourself out for people. Volunteer to help take on a project or assist someone with something they are trying to do. Be willing to take on the job that no one else wants. It may be hard, but it will be worth it! |
| Posted: 29 Nov 2010 09:53 AM PST Much like the fashion world, celebrity chefs and foodies alike declare certain foods to be "in vogue" during certain seasons. During the colder weather, my belly relies on starchy, meaty comfort foods (and a heckuva lot of hot chocolate). I think we can finally put everything-pumpkin behind us. 1. Comfort Food
Yes! Comfort foods made the cut (oh, how I love being trendy), albeit in serious gourmet versions. Mac and cheese is enhanced with the addition of luxury cheeses and even lobster. Crazy varieties of meatloaves, potpies and fried chicken round out the list of warm and cozy meals. While not particularly friendly on the waistline, they are totally happy in my mouth. And a bit warming for the heart, perhaps? 2. Whoopie Pies
I called this trend after the (seemingly endless) surge of cupcakes was inundated by amateurs. While the dessert market begins to wane in its tiny frosting-topped cake creations, I've been craving the sugary sandwich deliciousness of the Whoopie Pie – something I remember almost as fondly as Moon Pies as a kid. Banana is the best. 3. Asian Fusion
Asian fusion foods – or "haute couture" Asian-influenced dishes – have found hungry, happy tummies in casual diners to food trucks and every white-clothed table in between. Korean and Thai being the especially popular cultures, I couldn't be happier. It's a hot-and-spicy, Sriracha thing. |
| 10 Christmas Tree Decoration Ideas … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 09:23 AM PST “O, Christmas tree, o, Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches…” What are you going to use to make your Christmas tree branches look lovely this year? Here are 10 ideas for you to consider! 1. Patriotic Themed
Oh, say can you see, round the evergreen tree, the red, white and blue that bedecks it so proudly! Show your patriotism with a tree covered in all things red, white and blue! 2. Memories Tree
Turn your Christmas tree into a scrapbook of memories. Fill it with heirloom ornaments, and framed pictures of your family members. 3. Glitter and Ice
Winterize your tree with glitter and ice and everything nice! Bring a bit of cold into the warmth of your Christmas home! |
| 8 Unusual Festivals from Around the World … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 09:21 AM PST Food fight, coffins or giant penises– if you're looking for a bizarre way to have fun, you are definitely not the only one! Weird traditions and unusual festivals are one of the most popular tourist attractions and if you think these festivals are rare and uncommon in today's society, you're in for a big surprise. Some of these have a deeper symbolic, religious and historic meaning while some are nothing more but a meaningless, all inclusive fun. So here they are – 8 world's most unusual festivals listed and described. 1. Hadaka Matsuri
Being dressed in nothing but a loincloth in January? No thanks! But I would really like to visit this Japanese festival and witness thousands of men doing so! This ritual is taking place all over Japan and is supposed to bring a sort of a purification or soul-cleansing to its participants. 2. Corpus Christi
Would you let a person dressed in a devil costume try to jump over your baby? Probably not, right? Well, a lot of people certainly don't share your fears because this baby-jumping festival has been taking place since 1620! Placing babies on a mattress and having people dressed like the devil jump over them is believed to cleanse babies from sins and is supposed to bring them good health and luck. Although this does sound interesting, I wouldn't dare watch it. 3. Fertility festivals
Very popular in Greece and Japan, fertility festivals often involve parading a giant penis around so think well before you show the holiday pictures to your elderly family members. Celebrating fertility and good harvest, these festivals are definitely a fun thing to go check out with your girl friends. So get your camera ready and be prepared to touch or even kiss the giant male genitals replica, eat a lot of phallus shaped candies or sit on the phallus shaped throne! |
| 8 Things I’d Like to See on Jersey Shore … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 09:19 AM PST I hate that I love Jersey Shore. I resisted it the first season — although by now I've caught up on all those episodes as well. This show is a trainwreck — and I think that is its biggest appeal for me. I just can't help myself. I also can't help myself from coming up with strange and intriguing scenarios for the show, as you shall see here. I apologize in advance! Here are 8 things I’d like to see on Jersey Shore. 1. Snooki and Vinny Get Married
I love Snooki. She can be irritating as all get out, but she's so tiny and cute and loud and awesome — and she loves Vinny so much. He loves her too, he's always making comments about marrying her. Just do it! They were uber adorable this past season, and I give mad props to Snooki for seemingly never wanting to rip Ramona's hair out of her head or something. 2. Vinny and Pauly D
These two giggled together on the couch this last season. They frolicked on the beach. They rollicked around Miami. I hate the word "bromance," but I think this might be the first real one I've ever seen. If I can't have my Vinny/Snooki dream, these two just need to admit their love already. Do it! 3. JWoww vs. Angelina
I know Angelina isn't coming back for season three, but I'd still pay mad money to watch Jenni throw down on the girl. There were so many times I thought it was going to happen this season, it sucks that it didn't. if Jenni can take on Mike, though, she should be able to put this dirty hamster in her place. |
| 7 Unusual but Fun Ways to Earn Extra Money … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 08:51 AM PST By profession, I am a fulltime freelace writer – http://www.ContentWritersRevenue.com. As much as I love my job, sometimes, I can’t help but think of other ways to make money. Here are 7 unusual but fun ways to do just that. They may offer a nice little distraction from your regular career or just add a little more ka-ching in your pocket. Either way, you won’t be complaining! 7. Become a secret shopper
This is where you go into a variety of different shops and pretend to be a real customer. There are a range of scenarios that may have to adhere to, such as being a really difficult customer in order to see how well the company can deal with you. There are plenty of secret shopping companies that you can sign up for online. Most often, you get to keep the goodies and get paid for the job as well. Win-win! 6. Lingerie parties
A fun way to earn money is to host a lingerie party, where a representative comes to your house and shows you a large range of good lingerie. You supply wine and food, the representative puts on a show and then at the end your friends buy some of the goods. If you wanted you could even become a representative and visit people's houses. 5. Civilians who play different roles for the Military
Believe it or not civilians are paid to dress up in different outfits and play different roles for the military. For example, if conducting a terrorism exercise civilians may be asked to dress in certain ways so that they can re-enact events. |

| 7 Activities I Love Doing with My Dad … Posted: 29 Nov 2010 04:38 AM PST I'm an only child, so when I was young, I was both a mama's and a daddy's girl. Like many fathers and daughters, my dad and I had it rough during my teenage years, but things have done more than smooth out over time. I love my dad to death and genuinely like him as well. He's one of my BFFs. I still like to do a lot of things I did with him when I was a little girl, and there are a few new items on the list as well. 1. Go Fishing
When I was a kid, come spring and summer, my dad always got his fishing license, and I was always his fishing buddy. I still don't put the worm on the hook, I couldn't cast (I can now), and my reeling reeked as well (also better), but that wasn't what mattered – and dad didn't think so either. He always packed a lunch and fixed me up a place to sit and read under the shade. We just chilled. 2. History Lectures
History has never, ever been one of my favorite subjects. In fact, I generally paid the least amount of attention possible in every history class I ever had. My dad's a history buff, though, and I can listen to him talk about everything from WWII to ancient Rome without being bored a second. He's the only reason I ever passed those classes. 3. Home Improvements
My dad's a jack of all trades when it comes to home improvement. He lays carpet, tile, vinyl, and hardwood. He can build anything – including a second story onto a house. He can be an electrician or a plumber. That comes in incredibly handy – and I love helping him too. Not only does it teach me how to do things when he's not there, but we get to spend time together. |
| Posted: 29 Nov 2010 04:16 AM PST 1. On LoveThe ideas mentioned here may be something that you have read before but we need these reminders every now and then. Love yourself first. Talk. Be happy with the one you love. 2. On DietingThis gives you a fresh perspective on dieting. Here are strong words from the post: If you walk around all day talking about how fat you are than oddly enough, you happen to be fat. If you walk around all day with positive thoughts like, "hey, my legs are kind of thin" or "I look great in these jeans", then guess what happens? You actually portray those qualities to the rest of the world. Love it! 3. On CookingI could use a lesson on resourcefulness when it comes to the kitchen so this post was great to read. I’d definitely try this recipe one of these days. 4. On CollegeMany people say you gain weight during your freshman of college. I know I did. If you want to avoid this, read this wonderful post. 5. On Young LoveI never really thought about it but Valentine’s day can be hard on teens. If you are one, here are great tips to help you survive this holiday of the heart. | 7 Places to Find Writing Inspiration … Posted: 28 Nov 2010 10:52 PM PST Writing is not always easy. I know that if I asked you about the struggles of writing or being a writer, you will be able to tell me at least one of your experiences. A common problem when it comes to writing is writer's block or the lack of inspiration. It seems like you cannot write anything in spite of the thousands of ideas in this world. Fortunately, there are many places where you can find writing inspiration. Here are some of the most common ones. 1. Internet
The internet is a rich source of information and writing ideas. Reading blogs with subjects that interest you can spur ideas for your own blog posts and articles. You can also use search engines such as Google and Yahoo! to learn more about topics that you want to write about. 2. Books and Magazines
Books and magazines broaden your horizon by taking you to places you've never been. They also introduce you to people and characters you wouldn't be able to meet on your own. A quote or line from a book might give you writing inspiration; an interesting article might help you create your own twist to the topic. 3. TV Shows and Movies
Not all television shows and movies are written by inspired people. But if you do come across a show or movie that touches your heart and captures your interest, then you might also become inspired to write. |
| 9 Useful Tips for Those Traveling to Other Countries … Posted: 28 Nov 2010 10:45 PM PST I absolutely love traveling to distant countries. Even though I dislike taking planes to get to my destination, flying is often inevitable. Arranging flight reservations is only one of the issues travelers have to deal with. I've gathered 9 useful tips for those traveling to other countries and listed them below. If you are planning a trip overseas, then these tips might make your journey a bit more enjoyable! 9. Take out travel insurance
I haven't had any catastrophes while traveling, but there's a first time for everything. Travel insurance comes in many forms. It can provide you with reimbursement for a canceled or delayed flight, lost luggage, emergency medical care, and a variety of other issues. I always make sure to apply for at least a small amount of coverage when traveling overseas, especially if I'm traveling with my kids. 8. Carry prescription medication on your person
I try to give airlines the benefit of the doubt, most of the time. However, there are certain things that I make sure to take in my carry on. If you have prescription medications that you are taking with you, they need to be in the appropriate containers. Each bottle has to have your name on them and contain the correct medication. Thankfully, the airlines don't limit that amount of medications you bring with you, but if any of them exceed 3 ounces or aren't placed in a zip-top bag they must be checked by a security officer. 7. Leave information with friends and family members
Make copies of passports, personal information, travel documents, hotel reservations, and anything else that tells where you will be and on what date. You never know when an emergency will occur, whether on your end or back at home. It's a good idea to give as much information as you can. Believe me. I spent time hiking in another country and came home to find my son in a body cast. There seemed to be a lack of communication on the company's part I was traveling with. I didn't find out about my son until he didn't show up at the airport. In my opinion, you can never provide too many details to those you trust. |
