| 7 Alleged Dangers of the N1H1 Flu Shot … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 11:55 AM PST When it comes to swine flu, I just can't help but wonder “is the vaccine more dangerous than the actual virus?” Governments had spent millions of dollars to get this precious shot, some of them have been legally forcing their citizens to get vaccinated and, let's not forget that a company that produces the vaccine made one hell of a profit last year. And now, one year later, even though there is no actual swine flu danger, this "healing mixture" is a component of the regular, seasonal flu shot! I'm not a very political person and I generally think that all of us have bigger things to worry about and more interesting stuff than all those conspiracy theories to discuss but I just can't stop thinking about this. Is the N1H1 shot really so dangerous and does this mean we can't get our regular flu shots anymore? Here's the list of 7 dangers of this shot the media and various individuals are telling us: 1. Brain damage
Seizures, memory loss, dizziness, neurological disorders like Guillian-Barre syndrome and Alzheimer are often associated with receiving a swine flu shot. It happened back in 1970's during the first swine flu outbreak and the vaccine they have produced back then was no more dangerous than the one they are offering to us now. The only thing that has changed is the paperwork so, today, you have to sign a consent and, if something bad happens to you or your loved ones, it's nobody's fault! Now, if the shot is so safe, why is that necessary? You tell me. 2. Autoimmune diseases
Cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Lupus are just some of the many autoimmune diseases you and your loved ones might get as a horrible bonus. Some people have developed one or more of these in the first five years from taking a shot and just seeing these cases on TV is enough to get me seriously scared. Moreover, if you have genetic predispositions, meaning that any one of these diseases is already running in your family, getting your swine flu shot (or a regular seasonal flu shot that contains it) guarantees the disease won't skip a generation. Horrible! |
| 7 Ways To Deal With Snobby People … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 10:15 AM PST We all have to deal with them one time or another. Whether it be your waitress, the lady in the check out line in front of you or the coach of your son’s basketball team, we all run into a few snobs now and then. The problem is, how do you handle the way they treat you? Here are 7 tips for keeping your cool and walking away before you lose it! 1. Don't Spend Unnecessary Time Around Them
Say what you need to say and then get out. There's no need for you to hang around and give yourself more time to fume and fuss over the snobby way they are treating you. Be cordial and polite, but don't go out of your way to be around the person or spend extra time with them. 2. Don't Try To Compete With A Snob
Don't play the "I'm better than you" game with a snobby person. The only reason they start that game is to manipulate you and make you feel inferior. You don't need to prove that your stuff is nicer than theirs, and you certainly don't have to prove that you are a better person than they are. Remember actions speak louder than words so if they start up the old "well guess what I'm doing this weekend" try responding with a "oh that sounds nice have fun!" and watch the astonished look on their face! 3. Don't Take It Personally
I know, I know. Easier said than done right? I've gotten so upset with people over the way they treated me! But I came to realize a snob is a snob. They usually treat everybody the same and they believe the world owes them a favor. If you encounter a rude or indifferent person, just chalk it up and go on. Their attitude isn’t your problem; so don't let it ruin your day! It's not something that you yourself have done, it's just the other person's insecurities rising to the top. |

| 7 Ways to Have Softer, Richer Hair … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 07:02 AM PST I color my hair a lot, and it gets dry in the winter time. The result is kind of a disaster. I'm on this all-around self-improvement kick, so I decided to go looking for ways to improve and strengthen the texture and feel of my hair. I found some great ideas and here they are: 7 ways to have softer, richer hair! 1. Olive Oil
Yes! I saved this one. Massaging olive oil directly into your hair, then covering with a warm towel or a shower cap for 20-30 minutes will deeply condition your hair. It can help with split ends as well. You'll see and feel the difference as soon as you shampoo. There are even suggestions that olive oil can help treat dandruff, and it definitely helps with frizz. 2. Hair Serum
If you have a problem with your hair, there is more than likely a serum for it. There are serums for dry hair, fizzy hair, color treated hair, and so on. Nor do they have to cost an arm and a leg – you just have to know where to shop. Experts recommend that you begin with a small amount, like a dime-sized drop that you work through your hair. 3. Deep Conditioners
Using a deep conditioner on your hair is a great idea. Leave-in conditioners can make your hair softer, shinier, and richer. You can find spray-in, leave-in conditioners for ease of use, or go for the standard lotions. Don't overdo it, but a regular routine will definitely benefit your hair. |
| 8 Great Things About Flea Markets … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 05:47 AM PST If there's one thing I enjoy, it's wandering round a flea market. Whether they're big or small, regular or one-offs in someone's house, I always have a great time rummaging around and seeing what I come up with. Here in the city they're held on a monthly basis, and although I don't find something to buy every time, I've got some great pieces in my wardrobe. Here are some reasons why I love flea markets. 1. Random
Flea markets can turn up all kinds of treasures, if not in the strictly valuable sense. You just never know what you're going to come across. Maybe it'll be something you never thought you'd want but that appeals to you, something you just love, or the perfect gift. Whatever, the nature of flea markets is that the goods on offer are totally random, and as they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. 2. Bargains
Flea markets can provide some amazing bargains, especially in the more informal ones. Often people just want to get rid of their excess clothes, for example, and make a bit of money from them, so they sell them at a fraction of their retail price. I've picked up some great dresses in perfect condition for €5 ($8), for example. 3. Unusual
Another interesting factor about flea markets is that you find all sorts of strange objects. It's sometimes difficult to even work out what they're for! If you're involved in theatre, you might find the perfect costume or props among the weird and wonderful objects on display. |
| Posted: 10 Dec 2010 03:44 AM PST I was a child of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and I still miss the toys from that era. Teddy Ruxpin, Speak ‘n Spell, L’il Miss Magic Makeup, and countless others helped me fill up so many long, rainy afternoons when I couldn’t play outside. I actually ran across some of my old things the other day, and decided to compile a list of my top 10 favorite childhood toys. 1. Barbie Dolls
Barbies were my number one top favorite. I’ll confess, I played with my Barbie dolls until I was something like 13 or 14. But let me explain: I put together long, drawn out, soap opera story lines for my Barbies, all centered around my big dollhouse and the Peach Pit from my 90210 Barbies. I always preferred Midge over Barbie herself and letting a doll fall in love with my Joey McIntyre doll was the highest honor. My mom often played with me but she didn’t do the roles right, so she was in charge of hair and wardrobe. 2. Legos
Legos were easily my second favorite, and I often mixed them with a motley crew of wooden blocks. The best part was when my dad would get down in the floor and build majestic Lego mansions with me, except we always ran out of windows and the special shingle blocks for roofs. 3. Cabbage Patch Kids
Cabbage Patch dolls are weird and strange and a little ugly, but I liked them anyway. This had a lot to do with the fact that my PawPaw gave me my very first Cabbage Patch Kid, a little premie baby. Come to think of it, what’s up with giving little girls tiny premature baby dolls? Still, I loved mine. The ones with silky hair were my favorite. |
| 8 Things you Can Do to Prevent Animal Cruelty … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 02:46 AM PST It's really sad when someone is cruel to their animals. I have read some terrible stories in the news regarding people harming their pets. Why would someone want to be so cruel? Did you know that in Florida, animal cruelty is a felony? In addition, a felony conviction towards animal cruelty counts as one strike towards the Three Strikes Law Florida has. I will do as much as I can do to prevent animal cruelty and I want you to join me and do the same. Below, I am going to give you 8 things you can do to prevent animal cruelty … 8. Report It
If you notice someone being cruel to an animal, then you need to report it. If you see an animal sitting in a parking lot in a car, then you need to report it. I live in Florida where it gets terribly hot. If someone leaves their pet in the car for too long, it can cause harm to their health and could even result in death. 7. Offer to Buy the Pet
If you see an owner ill treating their pet, then ask to buy the pet from them. If they say yes, then you just saved the pet from a harsh environment. If they say no, then go back to number 8! 6. Get Those Facts
You will need to write everything down. You will be a witness, therefore, you need to provide the location, date and time along with the details. This includes the description of the animal, the cruelty and the person that is responsible for it. |
| 7 Things Billionaires Can do that We Can’t … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 01:06 AM PST To me, it seems rare to find a billionaire sitting around with nothing to do. People with billions of dollars might be a rare breed, but they do tend to stand out from the rest. I'd like to think that I wouldn't change much if I suddenly became rich. Then again, who knows, I might do some of the following things myself, just because I could. Here are 7 things billionaires can do that we can't. 7. Buy an island
An island can cost between 10 to 45 million and sometimes a bit more than this. Some billionaires probably find this amount to be mere pocket change. Not only would a billionaire be able to afford to buy an island, but getting to said island would also not be a problem. I'm sure some billionaires own more than one island and simply rotate living on them all. Sounds like fun to me! 6. Build the home of their dreams and include lots of extras
I know plenty of people who design and build their own homes and they aren't billionaires or even millionaires. However, these individuals rarely throw in all the bells and whistles that someone with billions of dollars would be capable of. Imagine, besides the home of your dreams you'd be able to put in a gigantic pool, intricate gardens, a hedge maze, a personal airport or helicopter launch pad, and a train to ride around your enormous stretch of land. 5. Employ staff to do things for them
I doubt billionaires ever have to do much on their own. Staff is generally employed to devise the menu, cook, clean, run errands, take care of the kids, manage finances, and any combination of all of these, plus a few other tasks. I know I'd get bored not being able to do things for myself, but I would enjoy having the help from time to time. Who wouldn't? |
| 9 Tips on Keeping Your Outside Pet Safe From the Cold … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 01:03 AM PST Most animals will find a way to stay warm or stay out of the cold completely. Inside pets don't have a problem with the cold weather, but outside pets require a bit more care. It's up to you to make sure they stay safe during the winter. Here are 9 tips on keeping your outside pet safe from the cold weather. I wrote most of these tips with dogs and cats in mind! 9. Provide a wind break
It's amazing at how much warmth can be gained by simply blocking the wind. Pet houses provide dogs and cats with a place to hide from the wind. There are plenty of fancy versions that have heating systems in them as well, but these aren't commonly purchased by the general public. As long as the wind is blocked, most animals are able to generate plenty of body heat to keep themselves warm, thanks to their fur. 8. Give warm blankets
Lining a pet house with a piece of fleece, some old blankets or towels can be the little addition necessary for making your pet more comfortable during cold weather. I have multiple cats, which tend to huddle together in a pile when it's cold outside. Even though I know they do well to keep each other warm, giving them a blanket to pile on top of keeps the cold at bay for those on the outside sections of the cat pile. 7. Make sure there is a dry place to lie down
Water causes the body to lose heat 25 percent faster than when it is dry. A soggy animal is rarely a happy one, unless you are talking about a Labrador who is fetching tennis balls out of the water. Give your pet a dry bed or section of the garage to snuggle up in. Also make sure that the pet house isn't a leaky one. |
| 8 Tips on Preparing for Prom … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 12:37 AM PST Prom is such an exciting event for teenagers and young adults that sometimes all preparation is left until the last minute and then it is a mad rush to find everything that you want. Here are 8 tips on preparing for prom. 8. Remember to buy the tickets
It is important that you remember to buy the tickets to your prom and I would recommend that you do so as soon as the tickets go on sale. This is because some schools and colleges can not offer a ticket to every student so it works on a first come first served basis. 7. Try everything on together before the prom
The chances are that you have already tried on the dress or tux when purchasing, so you already know that it fits. In my opinion you should try on the whole outfit with jewellery and accessories to make sure that everything compliments each other. You do not want any shocks on the actual day. 6. Make a list of everything you will need for the big day
You may think that you can remember everything for the big day but there are many small items that will probably slip right through your memory. So write down a list of everything that you need to do with rough dates of when they need to be completed by, this will help you make sure that there are no last minute surprises. |
| 9 Ways to Get Through Fat Days … Posted: 10 Dec 2010 12:11 AM PST I know that you will understand me when I say that "fat" is not just a word that describes weight and body shape. "Fat" is also a feeling that women feel at certain times in their lives. A day where you feel particularly fat is called a fat day. The causes of fat days differ for each person. But whatever the reasons for your fat days, you should know that there are simple ways to conquer that heavy feeling. 1. Discover the reason for your fat day
Think about what you did or didn't do the previous day. Did you eat too much? Did you fail to get some exercise? Also think about what is currently happening in your life. Are you under a lot of stress? Are you having your period? The only way you can properly address a fat day is by discovering the reason for feeling the way you do. 2. Don't focus on the feeling
Nothing has changed with the way you look. Remember that this fat feeling of yours will pass so there is no need to focus on it too much. Instead, focus on the day ahead of you. Think of ways to empower and remind yourself of the wonderful person you truly are. 3. Work up a sweat
Getting exercise is a wonderful way to feel good about yourself. But just because you are feeling fat doesn't mean that you have the permission to go overboard on working out. The point here is to release the tension in your body and to get some happy hormones flowing. A thirty minute session of a physical activity you enjoy is enough. |
| Posted: 09 Dec 2010 11:56 PM PST Thousands of reasons exist for not having a child and tons of ridiculous reasons for having a child are often given to try and even out all the negatives people give. I've tried to think of 7 reasons to have a child that don't include things like; because kids can be claimed on your tax return, you need someone to pass on the family name, or because they smell good. I tried to come up with valid reasons that weren't cheesy. Keep in mind that this is my list. Everyone has a different opinion on why people should have kids, so feel free to share yours! 7. To create an extension of your family to share your abundance of love with
Whether you are thinking about adopting a child, having one with a partner you love, or deciding to have one on your own, kids are little vessels that need to be filled with lots of love. They are not only a way to extend your family, but they soften the hearts of other family members. I have a couple of family members who were very distant until they had kids of their own. They finally seemed to realize just how important family was once they had children who depended on them. 6. You are financially prepared to offer a child tons of life experiences
I've read reports stating that raising a child is one of the most expensive aspects of life. The totals included food, clothes, schooling, medical, and miscellaneous tidbits. Having a low income only makes things more difficult, yet not undoable. I've raised my oldest son on very little and we even did without a lot of things as he was growing up. We also found tons of free things to do and ways to trade for what we needed. It does seem much more reasonable to think about having a child when you are financially stable and can supply a child with a proper education and lots of excellent experiences in life. |
