7 Inspirational Reasons Not to Run Away from Home as a Teen …

First of all, I want to start off by telling you that I am not here to judge you. I know that there are times where problems come about and it seems as if there are no end to those problems. I was a teenager once and I remember those days quite well (about 7 years back). I am just thankful to have nice parents and people around me that helped me out. I also understand that some teenagers do not have parents or anyone around them that they can talk to. There are times where people need to talk – to let things out. That is where this blog is going to come into play. You will find friendly people, like myself, who are willing to give you advice. I had a sixteen year old tell me she was going to get married. I didn't flip out on her, while everyone else did. I told her that it is her life, she's smart and it is her who is in control of things. She is the one running her life. If she feels that getting married at sixteen is something she truly wants, then why not? I feel like giving you 8 inspirational reasons not to run away from home as a teen …

7. No One is Perfect

If you are going through rough times and feel as if you are not pleasing those in your house, then it is important that you realize that no one is perfect. Even if the people in your house look down on you (I'm sorry), I think running away as a teenager would be a bit harder.

6. Everyone Has Obstacles

Everyone out there, from time to time, will have obstacles that they have to deal with. I know, no one wants to deal with those obstacles, because they are no fun. However, it is those obstacles that make us stronger. They are what makes us who we are today – as long as you learn to deal with them. If you were to run away from home, then you are running away from problems. You need to stand there, stare that obstacle in the eye and let it know that you are stronger than it thinks.

8 Things to Remember When Returning to Exercise After an Injury …

When you experience a workout injury, it can be pretty devastating at first. All the work you've put into getting to your current fitness level could possibly be wasted. You think of weight gain scenarios and a less active lifestyle. You can feel the pain, the regret, and the frustration from getting injured but please do not dwell on what has happened. The great thing about getting an exercise injury is that you can always recover and get back to your workout, provided that the damage is nothing permanent. However, do not rush into the gym with high expectations; you have to accept the reality that you have been set back physically. Aside from this, there are other things you need to remember when returning to exercise after an injury.

1. Consult your doctor

When you are in recovery mode, you need to have regular consultations with your doctor. This is to ensure that you are right on track or that you are not doing anything that can worsen your injury. During the early stages of recovery, you should ask for supervision or guidance from a professional especially when it comes to performing certain stretches and exercises.

2. Understand the injury

You have to understand what caused your injury in the first place. Was the injury a result of using the wrong gear? Was it caused by physical factors such as weak or undeveloped muscles, brittle bones, dehydration, or overused muscles? Look back and try to remember the activities you were doing when you got injured. Were you performing movements the wrong way? Was your form incorrect or were you exerting yourself too much? You can always ask your doctor to explain your injury if you cannot understand it by yourself.

10 Shows I Loved in 2010 …

10 Shows I Loved in 2010 …

First of all, I have to say that not all of these shows started in 2010. I’m just talking about the shows I loved watching that were on this past year. Some of them are new hits, some of them are old favorites, and some of them are really, really awful. Hey, I never said I had great taste. I do, just maybe not in TV all the time. At any rate, here are 10 shows I loved in 2010 – plus the first seasons of each, in case you need to play catch up!

1. Hell’s Kitchen

Hell's Kitchen
Price: $18.99 at amazon.com
Oh Gordon Ramsey, how do I love thee? I love most of Chef Ramsey’s shows, but Hell’s Kitchen is unquestionably my favorite, and I loved the season just past. Well, okay, some bits of it made me angry, but I was very pleased with the ending. I have to ask, though, did Trevor and Russell both get on anyone else’s last nerves?

2. House

House
Price: $20.99 at amazon.com
I cannot wait until this comes back from hiatus. I refuse to call the House/Cuddy coupling "Huddy," but I still can’t wait to see what’s happening with them. I live in dread (no lie) of the day they decide to stop making new seasons/episodes of House, but until that time, it will be my absolute favorite show.

3. Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore
Price: $21.99 at amazon.com
This is such a guilty pleasure – and no, I cannot wait until the new season starts. As much as I hate Angelina, I was glad that, this year, she actually made it through most of the entire season – just because it was worth her to see her get a beat down. I don’t know if I’ll like the new girl, but it doesn’t really matter – I’m sure the results will be highly entertaining no matter what!

8 Job Interview No-Nos …

In this time of economic crisis, there is fierce competition for job vacancies. More and more people are losing their jobs, and chasing fewer and fewer openings. So more than ever it is important to make a good impression if you're lucky enough to get an interview. But it's just as important to remember things you shouldn't do …

1. Dress Inappropriately

Check every detail of your appearance before you leave for the interview. Make sure your hair and makeup is tidy. And dress for the occasion. Unless you're going for a job as a lapdancer, do NOT show any cleavage.

2. Leave Your Cell On

It's wise to carry your phone, in case of transport delays or difficulties finding the location. However, make absolutely sure to switch it off. The interviewer will definitely not be amused at your ringtone, and may even mentally dismiss you outright.

3. Being Too Familiar

This person is interviewing you for a job. They may even be your future boss. They most certainly are not your friend. So don't be over familiar with them, and definitely don't make jokes.

7 Brands with Popular Facebook Pages …

Facebook is like a force of nature now. It can make you or break you – and it can certainly make or break big brand names. Here are 7 brands with uber popular Facebook pages, for your reading enjoyment. Be thinking about what you think this says about these brands!

1. Coca-Cola

Coke is number one on pretty much every Facebook popularity list. Think about what that says about the iconic soda. Coke knows how to work its presence on the internet, that’s for sure. The company itself hasn’t even made its own Facebook page – but fans have, and they’ve got a lot of "likes" these days. How many? Over 21 million and counting.

2. Starbucks

Starbucks is like the coffee overlord these days – and its Facebook page shows that. Starbucks even has an app now that lets you show your Starbucks visits on your FB page. You can even use the page to amp your gift cards. How many fans does the coffee mogul have? A fan on every street corner, of course. By the way, that equals out to almost 19 million likes.

3. Oreo

Oreo may well be the most beloved cookie ever. Its Facebook page suggests as much at any rate. Part of the reason it’s such a popular brand on FB is because it’s fun. You get to interact to the nth degree. The page has contests and everything, so it’s really no wonder the page has more than 16 million fans.

9 Remodeling Trends for the Coming Year …

Is 2011 the year you want to start remodeling some or all of your home? That’s the case for a lot of people, because the top trends have already been predicted. Maybe they can give you some ideas on what you want to do in your home and how you want to do it. Why not take a look at these 9 remodeling trends for the coming year and see if they give you any ideas?

1. Beautifying the Bathroom

People are going to be all about redoing their bathrooms in 2011. It might be something as simple as changing the wallpaper or paint, buying new rugs, getting a new shower curtain, or something like that. However, it can also mean a total overhaul. If you have always wanted a large garden tub, a separate shower stall, or if you want a cuter toilet, this year might be the year for you to grant your own bathroom wishes.

2. Do What You Gotta Do

Others, however, will be improving only those things that they have to improve. A leaky roof, a problem with hot water, repainting fading walls – whatever the case may be, this year people will be saving what money they can by only improving the things that really need improved.

3. Warmer Tones

Another trend this year involves styles of décor. People are going to be pulling away from modern and minimalist trends, and will instead be making their homes warmer. They will be using earth tones and warmer colors and styles, to create an altogether cozier feel in their homes. I don’t know, I like modern décor. What’s your favorite style?

7 Things That Have Nothing To Do With Love …

7 Things That Have Nothing To Do With Love …

Love is a very popular thing these days. So popular, many people use it to describe even those bad behaviors that have nothing to do with it. I guess everything sounds a bit better when it's done with love in mind, huh? Well, I'm pretty sick of that and I'm sick of people trying to use this word to justify their own selfishness and lack of emotions. So, here's my list of bad things that are being passed under this name:

1. Jealousy

"I don't want you to go out on your own because I love you." "Your friends are trying to corrupt you, I'm the only real friend you have." Now, tell me how many times have you heard something like this? I've actually spent 2 years with a person that tried to convince me that jealousy is a sign of great love. Well, sorry, but I don't think jealousy is a divine trait! It's just a proof of your own fears and insecurities and if you keep insisting on it, you might lose the person you care for.

2. Lying

There are no white lies, good lies, love lies or small lies – If you love somebody you have to speak the language of truth. It is painful and it is hard, but it's the only right way. So if somebody uses love to justify lying, you can rest assured this person actually means, "I lied to save my own ass and if you actually buy this pathetic love crap excuses, I'll feel free to keep using them. "

3. Breaking up

Can somebody explain me this? Please?! In what universe loving somebody becomes the ideal reason to let that person go? Don't fall for these lame excuses ladies! If he "needs to break up because he has strong feelings for you", he's just trying to say, "I don't need you right now but I want to keep you around in case I get bored or change my mind. "

This tiny plastic sound effects machine is a great way to applaud everyone's small accomplishments… or to laugh at them… the speaker comes with 16 sounds, and even includes the batteries. So much fun! What boy (of any age) wouldn't love this?

2. Schwetty Balls 2 pack

This two pack of golf balls, clearly inspired by the hilarious SNL skit with Alec Baldwin, is sure to be a hit with anyone, male or female, who plays the game and happens to have a sense of humor. The box alone is enough to inspire laughter of all kinds, from giggles to guffaws.

3. Marshmallow Stryker

Price: $20.00 at urbanoutfitters.com
I'm not normally a proponent of toy guns, but this one's awesome. It can rapid-fire mini-marshmallows up to 20 feet, into a cup of hot cocoa or just into a buddy's mouth. The magazine holds up to 15 mini-marshmallows, and is dishwasher safe for easy clean-up.

8 Ways To Make It Through The New Year …

You have made it through all the festivities, opened all the gifts, and finally put your house back in order. All the decorations are safely tucked away until next year and all the colorful lights and wreaths are stored away, waiting for another holiday to arrive. How do you get back to normal? Is it possible to bring the stress levels back down and regain your calm, peaceful attitude? Yes! Keep reading and find out what you can do…

1. Cut Anxiety and Stress with Music

I love holiday music. I play it constantly from November until after Christmas. But recent research has proven that singing actually relieves stress, lowers blood pressure, and slows your heart rate in as little as 5 minutes. Why? Because when you sing, you must take deep breathes which has deep, calming effects on your nerves. Also, music that reminds you of happy childhood memories calms you and restores your sense of happiness.

2. Mistletoe and Kissing

If you keep the traditional mistletoe hanging up during Christmas, don't take it down so soon! Kissing and cuddling triggers the release of the love hormone oxytocin. This chemical calms stress and sends a happy signal pulsing through your veins. Why not keep the mistletoe in sight for the entire month of January?

3. Enjoy Company

As tired as you may feel after all the party's are over, remember laughing relieves stress. So in keeping with stress reducing activity, carve out a couple nights during January just to hang out with your friends. Vent, laugh, and relax your way into a happier year!

9 Things He’s Thinking About Your Clothes …

What is he thinking of your clothes? What does he think about the clothes the girl next to you is wearing? I am going to give you 9 things he's thinking about your clothes. Of course, not every guy is thinking these things and guys aren't thinking all of these things at one time. Surely, somewhere along the line, a guy has said these things before …

9. Why the Leggings?

Why the Leggings?

Hey, girls, stop confusing the guys! At one point in time, women wore leggings only under the dresses or their skirts. Now, here they are, wearing leggings with nothing but their shirt on. Guys are confused with this one. Many women do this and they aren't even in clubs – I see it all the time in the grocery store.

8. His T-shirt

"Aww, she's wearing my baggy old T-shirt … that I sweated in at the gym. I hope she doesn't notice." Okay, I just had to add this one in – hopefully I made some of you laugh.

7. That Sweater

"Wow, that is one strange sweater. I hope she does not force me to wear something like that. I remember my mom making me wear something like that during Christmas. Maybe if I don't draw attention to it, she won't wear it ever again." Hey, some guys can be rude, but at least (hopefully), they keep this comment to themselves.

7 Tips on Having Soft Skin …

7 Tips on Having Soft Skin …

I'd much rather have smooth, soft skin as opposed to dry, flaky skin. Wouldn't you? The winter weather around here really does a number on a person's skin. The following 7 tips on having soft skin work very well in cold weather climates, so I imagine they would work just as well in warm weather regions as well. If you have any additional tips for making skin soft and supple, please add them in the comment section!

7. Put baby oil in your bathwater

There's nothing like a good long soak in the tub at the end of a hard day. Soap and water are known for robbing the skin of its moisture, since they help to reduce the amount of oil in the skin. You can quickly replenish your body's level of oil by adding in some baby oil to the bathwater.

6. Drink plenty of water

Since the human body is made up mostly of water, then a lack of this fine liquid causes skin cells to shrivel. This shriveling effect makes skin dry and itchy. Drinking lots of water, especially during heavy exercise, while working outside, and any time you find yourself sweating profusely. Coffee may have lots of water in it as well, but the caffeine found in most coffee and tea actually causes you to lose a lot of water. Make sure to drink at least 8 cups of plain water daily.

5. Take your vitamins

A good multi-vitamin will actually help protect your skin against pre-mature aging. The sun may affect your skin on the outside, but as long as you are getting the right amount of vitamins you should be able to protect your skin from the inside as well. There are supplements with Omega 3, 6, and 9 in them that are great for keeping your skin healthy looking. Healthy skin is usually very soft too.

7 Hands Free Ways to

I know that you want the guy to notice you now, but you want to do so without touching. Touching seems like cheating in a way. You want him to look at you and be "wowed." So, how do you do that? Is it possible? Of course it is possible and I am going to give you 7 hands free ways to "wow" him …

7. Lace

Hey, here's one – stand in front of him wearing lacey panties and a lacy bra. For some reason, guys always draw to lace – it's very sexy.

6. Text

I'm not talking about just any plain old text message. I am talking about (cover your ears!) a dirty text message. You know, send him a text, telling him what you would love to do to him. If you do not have a cell phone, then message him through your messenger, e-mail him or write it in a letter for him to see.

5. Laugh with Him

Do you know what? Call me strange for putting this in this blog, but I think laughter is the best medicine. Laugh with him – show him that you enjoy him. Also, show him your self confidence. Guys are always turned on by this.

7 Most Memorable Happenings in 2010 …

2010 has been a year of many happenings, some good, some bad, and some will easily be forgotten shortly after the New Year has begun. Here are the 7 most memorable happenings in 2010 that I can recall. They might not all be that interesting to you, but they each caught my attention for some reason.

7. Death of Nodar Kumaritashvili

This 21 year old Olympic athlete from the country of Georgia died during a training exercise. It's reported that Nodar had told his father he feared the luge track he would later be competing on. It was during a practice run that Nodar had the fatal accident. His luge sled reached up to 90 miles per hour at the time of the accident.

6. Earthquake in Haiti

With a 7.0 magnitude, this earthquake rocked Haiti right at the start of the year. The initial quake took place on the 12th of January, but continued to be a constant reminder up until the 24th of the same month with a little over 50 aftershocks measuring around 4.5 or greater. 230 thousand people died, 300 thousand were injured, and more than a million became homeless. Even the 1946 earthquake that struck the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, didn't produce the amount of damage that the 2010 earthquake in Haiti displayed.

5. The eruption of an Icelandic volcano

The Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted twice in less than a month's time. Hundreds of people had to flee, due to rising floodwaters, and flights were cancelled into and out of Iceland. The rising floodwaters were caused by the melting of a glacier near the volcano. Also, the flights weren't only cancelled on the continent of Iceland, but surrounding countries as well.

8 Ways to Get Over your TV Addiction…

The television can be a wondrous piece of technology or a treacherous one. I've found that too much TV tends to make me miss out on a lot of things. It also keeps me sitting in the same spot for hours on end, thus decreasing the amount of physical activity I get. If you find yourself constantly in front of the television and can't seem to get anything else accomplished, then you might be addicted to it. Here are 8 ways to get over your TV addiction.

8. Make a schedule of television shows you really want to see

Write down a weekly schedule of your favorite shows. If you like just about everything on TV, then try to whittle the schedule down to two or three shows each day. You can make this schedule shorter as time goes on. Try to watch only the shows you have written down on your television. Maybe you could put a lamp next to the television and place it on a timer so that the light will turn on when it's time to watch TV. This will keep you from constantly looking at your watch and waiting for your favorite shows to start.

7. Go for a walk

Getting out of the house and going for a walk might take your mind off what shows might be playing on the television at that particular moment. Having a dog to take for a walk will make this diversion method much easier. You might be able to talk a friend into loaning you his dog or taking a walk with you. Being distracted by a chatty friend makes the time fly right by.

6. Get a membership at the local gym

Schedule a particular time of day to go to the gym, if possible. Try choosing a time in the day where you are more likely to sit for a longer period of time in front of the television. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel after a couple of weeks of working out at the gym. I'm no good at setting up an exercise routine for myself, so I find it much easier to workout with a friend or to join a class where an instructor tells me what exercises to do.

7 Reasons Orange Juice is Good for You …

I love a glass of orange juice in the morning, and recently, I've discovered it's not only delicious, it's also a very healthful choice! I used to feel a little guilty because of the sugar that it contains, but no more. First of all, those sugars are natural, and secondly, the calories from the sugar in my orange juice are far outweighed by the benefits of the other nutrients. Are you still on the fence? Here are 7 reasons orange juice is good for you…

1. It's fat free and cholesterol free

There aren't a lot of sweet treats that are fat free or cholesterol free, but orange juice is both! It's sweet and delicious, and can be enjoyed chilled from the fridge, or even frozen into a slush. Any way you choose to enjoy it, it's guilt-free and won't add fat or cholesterol to your diet.

2. You'll get a serving of fruit

Did you know the USDA recommends that most people get 5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables very day? That number might be hard to reach for people who don't' like their veggies, but one 8-ounce glass of orange juice can give you one full serving… one down, only four to go!

3. It's rich in vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps slow the effects of cell aging and damage, and may even help boost your immune system! And you can get 100% of the USDA recommended allowance of this miracle vitamin by drinking just one 8-iunce glass each day…
