| 7 Tips on Playing Resident Evil 5 … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 11:38 AM PST First off, I would like to add this to one of my favorite games for the x box 360. The game was the best Co-op playing game for me and my husband. We played this game for hours and finally beat it. I have some tips I would like to give you for playing resident evil 5 for the x box 360. 7. Save AmmoOf course ammo is hard to come by; it's a resident evil game! Ammo can be found in boxes and from enemies you kill. Avoid using too much ammo and try not to use the same guns as the other player. They tend to steal your ammo… 6. Carry Two Types of GunsThe weapons I like in this game was the Shotgun and pistol. There is tons of pistol ammo throughout the game. Shotgun ammo might be hard to get, but you can take out 2 or more enemies with one round. These guns are perfect together and will help you through the game. My husband used the Rifle and machine gun and always bugged me for ammo.. pfft! 5. Get The Shock StickI'm sure it's called something else, but it's my shock stick. A few hours in the game, you will get a chance to buy one of these from the store. The shock stick as I call it helps fight mobs of dogs and groups of easy monsters. This is a last resort weapon, when you have no more ammo. |
| Posted: 07 Feb 2011 11:15 AM PST Sometimes, we all need to go through a change. Some of us like big changes, while the rest of us like little changes. Perhaps some would like to change their home around because they think it could look better. If you own the home, then there is no reason you shouldn't do this. Below, you are going to find 7 home renovation tips … 7. Figure Out What You Want to Do
Photo Credit: Carpet One Floor & Home You first need to figure out what you will be doing. If you want to do the bathroom, then there are many magazines that focus solely on the bathroom. Figure out what you would like to do, then write it down on a piece of paper. 6. Talk to Other Family Members in Your Home
Photo Credit: tylerscott89 If there are other family members in your home, then you need to talk to them. Come up with a day on when the work should happen. If it is a major renovation, then those are very disruptive to family life. If each family member has a say in it, then maybe it won't be so disruptive. 5. Think Green

| 8 Tips on Dealing with Your Landlord … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 11:00 AM PST Whether you live in a rental house, an apartment, or a partner connected to your landlord’s house, you may at some time have to deal with a landlord. Homeowners, I envy you and hope to join your ranks someday soon! Until that point, here are some tips for my fellow rental dwellers, on how to deal with your landlord over pretty much any issue that comes up during your stay. 1. Be PoliteIf you have an issue with your landlord, whether it is about heating, trash pick up, or random house repairs, it pays to be polite. You might be incredibly angry, but it’s in your best interest not to show it. Nine times out of ten, that old adage about how you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar definitely works here. Just be polite about bringing up your issues and chances are he or she will be happy to take care of them. 2. Be HonestIf you have a serious problem with your rental property or with something your landlord has done, it’s always better to be upfront and honest about it. You need to be tactful as well, but it’s better for both of you if you just tell the truth. That includes if you’ve done something wrong – like if a friend has pulled a no-no and lit up a cigarette in a non-smoking apartment. 3. Be PatientA little patience goes a long way in most situations, and that is definitely true when it comes to your landlord. If you tell your landlord about a problem, don’t always expect it to get done right that second. Depending on the nature of the problem, give it a few days or a week, maybe more depending – but never let it go too long, and don’t be afraid to broach the subject again. You just don’t want to start nagging right away, unless of course it’s an emergency. |
| 8 Tips on Making Peace with Your In-Laws … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 10:44 AM PST You can hear so many horror stories from both men and women about their relationships with their in-laws. I’m not just talking about mother- and father-in-law relationships, either. Sometimes people can’t get along with their brothers-in-law or sisters-in-law either. It doesn’t have to be hectic and stressful though. You can have a good relationship, even if you have to work at it. Maybe these 8 tips on making peace with your in-laws can help! 1. Work TogetherYou and your partner really have to work together. It’s not fair to put your partner in a situation where he or she feels the need to make a choice between you and his or her family. It wouldn’t be fair for you to be in that situation either. Even if your in-laws really get on your nerves, remember that as long as you’re with your partner, you’re with them, too. 2. Create BoundariesThe key to any relationship is the setting of boundaries and the creation of limits. With your in-laws, you need to set boundaries in terms of dealing with your children, if any; with the subject of money; with anything that you know makes you feel uncomfortable. You don’t have to get all up in their face about these topics, though. A calm and reasonable discussion will go a lot farther than any mad confrontations. 3. Make Good on PromisesIf you make a promise, you have to try to keep it. Now, this is just an example, because I never minded this. But, when we still lived in Michigan, where my in-laws to-be still live, I knew going into the relationship that the Better Half had dinner with the folks every Sunday. Was I okay with that? Absolutely! Did I always want to go? Not necessarily – so when I didn’t feel up to it, I didn’t go, but I also didn’t pitch a fit and keep the BH from going. |

| 9 Common Interview Questions and Answers … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 10:06 AM PST Interviewing for a new job doesn't have to be a stressful situation. If you can get past the basic questions that are asked during an interview, then the rest should be a piece of cake. Here are 9 common interview questions and answers that are generally given for each one. Of course, the answers will vary from job to job and from person to person. As long as you have established what your personal answers will be to these 9 questions, then your interview should go well. 9. Do you have any questions for me?Not all potential employers ask this question, but it's best to be prepared for it anyway. Most people write down a few questions before they head to their interview in case they are asked this question. You don't have to pull major questions out of thin air to make yourself sound smart or anything like that. Go for basic questions, such as; 'how long has the company been in business', 'who was the company started by', and any other generic questions you might be able to think of. 8. Are you a good team worker?Employers usually want to know if they are about to hire someone who doesn't play well with others. The response to this question is usually, 'yes'. I doubt very few people actually admit that they would much rather work in solitude than with a group of people who they possibly cannot tolerate. Hopefully if you aren't a team player, then you won't be applying for a job that requires you to be one. 7. How much are you expecting in pay?The answer to this question is generally, 'Whatever the position is paying'. Most employers have a salary attached to a particular job title, so I don't know why they feel they need to ask this question anyway. I've had to fill out applications with this question on it and I tend to write down whatever amount the job was advertised at. If I'm offered more than this amount, then that's great! |

Photo Credit: gettingpersonal.co.uk A pair of Stories of Love pillow cases from BoldLoft might be just what you were looking for. You could slip these precious cases onto your bed pillows for your loved one to notice at bed time. The string continues onto the other pillow case where there is a little heart created in the red string right before it reaches the tin can phone the girl stick figure is holding to her ear. How sweet is that! 6. Sporty strawberries
Photo Credit: HawBone What sports enthusiast wouldn't love some hand dipped strawberries that resemble sporting equipment? Don't worry; they aren't decorated like a sweaty jock strap or anything like that. They actually are made to look like little strawberry shaped footballs, basketballs, and baseballs. Shari's Berries is where you can find these sweet sporty treats for your honey. 5. A heart shaped puzzle with a personal message on it
Photo Credit: personalizationmall.com Personalization Mail.com offers these heart shaped puzzles that you can put your own message onto. There are three designs to choose from. | 8 Dangers of Breast Implants … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:58 AM PST Breast implantation is the most popular choice amongst all the plastic surgery options available today. Doctors will tell you a few minor risks, but them shrug them off as if they’re nothing to worry about. Here are 8 risks that I’ve found. Read them and tell if breast implants are something to be concerned about or not… 1. Implant Rupture90% of breast implants rupture in the course of 7-12 years, though for many they rupture even sooner than that. For many, even before rupture, the implants leak. Many women never know this is happening until they go in for another surgery. 69% of woman that have had breast augmentations had implants to rupture and never even knew it! This leads to a great deal of problems, even hardening of the breast! When silicone leaks into your body – lymph nodes, spinal fluid, brain, liver and ovaries, it becomes like glue! 2. Implants Are Highly Cancerous! One study found a 21% increased risk of cancer in women who have breast implants. Another study found that woman who have had breast implants for at least 12 years are more likely to die from cancer, brain tumors and suicide! 3. Implants Delay Cancer DetectionBreast implants can keep mammograms from detecting 55% of tumors. But just having a mammogram in general can be dangerous, since it is highly capable of rupturing your implant. |
| The 7 Most Inspiring Women Celebrities … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:58 AM PST There are so many women in the public eye but only a few of them can be called truly inspiring women celebrities. Apart from the fact that they all have tremendous wealth and have enjoyed widespread success and popularity, they have all overcome the odds to get to where they are today. That is what makes these individuals the most inspiring women celebrities of our time. 1. Oprah Winfrey
Photo Credit: obamamtoto.blogspot.com Oprah was born in rural Mississippi in a small low-income family where she had a troubled childhood of rape, abuse, child pregnancy and tragedy. Through sheer grit and determination she overcame all odds, fighting her way through school and college to end up with a career in communication. Her talk show, the Oprah Winfrey show is possibly the most popular in the world and it is all due to her honest personality, straightforward style and general likability. 2. J.K. Rowling
Photo Credit: pressgazette.co.uk J K Rowling, the single mother author of the Harry Potter series of books, was rejected 12 times by different publishers before a small British publishing house finally accepted it. The book went on to become an international phenomenal with millions of followers of all age groups. With just the power of her pen, J K Rowling went from near poverty to becoming a billionaire many times over, a definite contender for one of the most inspiring women celebrities if ever there was one. 3. Angeline Jolie
Photo Credit: spreadit.org If it isn't Angelina Jolie's committed involvement as a humanitarian working tirelessly with the UN that is inspiring, it could be her generosity in adopting no less than 4 children from third world countries. If that isn't enough, her ability to maintain her figure and beauty after having 3 children, 2 of them twins should be inspiration enough. |
| 7 Tips for Highschool Athletes … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:34 AM PST I played sports in high school; track, volleyball, softball, and basketball. I had a blast and would recommend trying out for sports to anyone who enjoys being part of a team. High school sports created great camaraderie between students. I can recall a few tips adults gave me when I played sports in school and some things I had to learn on my own. Here are 7 tips for highschool athletes. 7. Don’t let your grades fall behindI know most schools have started making it mandatory that athletes maintain at least a C average in order to continue to play sports. I had a few friends in high school that had a very difficult time keeping a C average in all of their classes because they spent all of their free time playing sports. Most star athletes go on to college right out of high school and it is here that they are discovered and signed on by larger sports organizations. Keeping up your grades will increase your chances of getting into the college you want. 6. Support your teammatesWhether you play a team sport or partake in a sport where you competing on your own, such as in many track events, it’s good sportsmanship to cheer on your teammates. Give them the support you would like to have. Show them you care about their success and about them as well. Being supportive of your teammates shows that you are a good sport and that you know what it means to be a team. 5. Watch other athletes during competitionsKeeping an eye on the way individuals move on the field will clue you in to what you will be up against when you have to be on the same playing field. For instance, a basketball coach might have you watch a particular player’s offense because you will be going in soon to play defense against this same player. Knowing what is in store for you will help you to be better prepared once you come face to face with opposing players. |
| 7 Ways to Get Back in the Gym … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:06 AM PST It's the New Year, and millions of us have made the resolution to go back to the gym. But it's so hard! The temptation to slack and just stay home is almost insurmountable. How can you go to the gym if you're busy, or tired, or just plain unmotivated? Here are 7 ways to get back to the gym. 1. Find your inspirationUnless you have the right reasons for going back to the gym, and reasonable goals, it's going to be very difficult to get, and stay, motivated. Do you want to look better in your jeans, be able to keep up with your kids, have a healthy heart? Those are all obtainable, realistic goals, and they'll all inspire you to go… and to keep going! 2. Hire a trainerA personal trainer has a vested interest in making sure you get into the gym, regardless of how many weeks past New Year's it is. They want you to succeed, and will do everything they can, everything their training has taught them, to make sure you have the tools you need to get you back in the gym. 3. Find a classThis is one of the easiest ways to pique your interest in the gym again — find, and take, one of their classes that you think might be interesting or fun! Gym managers know that the trick isn't getting people interested, it's in getting them to stay, so they're offering lots of fun classes this time of year. Take one, and keep going! |
| 10 Ways To Channel Irritation … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 09:01 AM PST We all get throroughly annoyed and irritated sometimes, and need an outlet for it. The trouble is that we can't always deal with the real problems. So why not channel it into something useful – or at least amusing … 1. Bottle BankThere is something very therapetic about breaking things when you're annoyed. But you don't want to break anything useful, since that will only make you even more annoyed. So gather up your empty glass bottles and jars, and head off to your nearest recycling point for a smashing time (just go at a civilised hour, or you'll annoy the neighbours). 2. Annoy A ChuggerYou're bound to have been annoyed at some point by these ubiquitous charity collectors, and I for one feel no guilt at annoying them back when I get the chance. Pretend to be foreign, say 'No, I don't care about starving giraffes', or spend ages giving them all your details and then say 'oops, sorry, I got that all wrong. Can we start again?' 3. Fun With TelesalesIf these people must bother you, they should at least have the decency to call when you need someone to take out your irritation on. The possibilities are endless, and you can have enormous fun playing games at their expense. |
| 7 Foods to Use On Your Body Instead of In It … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 08:59 AM PST Do you really want to pay in excess of $50 for a face cream or the latest miracle anti-wrinkle cure? Even though the quantity of the product is stated on the box it's always a disappointment when you realise the outer box is 3 times the size of the jar and then the jar has a bottom so thick you only get a fraction of it filled with actual product. Not only that, we really have no idea of what is in the cream itself. Labels of chemicals with unpronounceable names … just what on earth is it all about? So whether you are looking to save some cash or return to a more natural beauty routine your humble kitchen cupboard may well hold a store of goodies you should be using on your face and body instead of eating it. And they’re eco-friendly. 1. Pass the coffeeCheck out makeyourcosmetics.com for the recipe for an exfoliating and moisturizing blend of used (! ?) ground coffee bean, olive oil and milk. It's very good for hands and feet. Not good if you don't like the smell of coffee though. 2. Egg on your faceSuitable for all skin types, this mask is made by simply mixing together 2 egg whites with 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Make sure you use plain yoghurt – imagine how you'd look with extra fruity strawberry on your face? Leave on for a few minutes then rinse off. 3. Virgin Night CreamWith night creams being amongst the most expensive of our creams it's good to know there are some that are easily made at home. The recipe for olive oil night cream has a few ingredients and is easy to make but too long for here so just stick Natasha Levitan in your search engine and away you go. She's also got a host of other ideas. |

Yes, I'm the butt of that joke. I cannot resist the temptation to add more – and how throw pillows can transform and "finish" a room. 1. Star Felt Pillow

| 8 Glam Nails YouTube Tutorials … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 08:43 AM PST Simple nail polish was quite a cool beauty trick many, many years ago. However, today, regularly painted nails are really nothing special and we all seek different ways to make them more sparkly, noticeable and glitzy. The only problem is that these "procedures" often require some unknown skill which the ones that pose it charge for quite brutally. That's why it might not be a bad idea to check out these simple, very doable tutorials and try to become your own nail artist. 1. Black, silver and pink nailsThis girl has really amazing nails! I've been watching her channel for quite some time now and I just can't believe how long and gorgeous they are! Anyways, I've picked this look because I'm a real sucker for black rhinestones. I don't really know why is that so, I guess it's because they do add a bit of glitz to the nails without shining too much or making you feel like a Christmas tree. Do watch the video even if you don't like the excessive embellishments because this girl gives tips on how to simplify and modify the look to make it more wearable, so to speak. 2. Neon orange and silver nail artThis nail art design will probably require some patience but I'm definitely going to give it a shot. My hands are shaking quite a bit these days and I'm guessing it's because I haven't been able to eat and get the most out of the holiday feasts due to the stomach flu I've managed to pick up somewhere. So, I'm kind of prepared to the fact that I probably won't be able to do everything perfect in the first attempt but never mind. Now, if you like the glitters, you can just do everything "by the book" but, if you don't, I'm suggesting you just skip the last part… at least that's what I'm planning to do. |
| 7 Ways to Clean Up Germs in the Kitchen … Posted: 07 Feb 2011 04:10 AM PST A long time ago, I heard an interview with a scientist who said he'd rather eat a carrot stick that fell into his toilet rather than one that fell into his kitchen sink. Me, I won't eat either one, but he made his point — our kitchens harbor more germs than anywhere else in our homes, including the bathroom. If this bothers you as much as it bothers me, and you're looking for a few things you can do to get rid of the nastiest of those germs, keep reading! Here are 7 ways to clean up the germs in your kitchen. 1. What to do with a spongeOf all the things in the kitchen that harbor the most germs, the sponge tops the list. They're convenient, but using them again and again to clean up spills or wash dishes can mean a spongy breeding ground for the nastiest bacteria. When you use one to wipe down your counter, you might just be spreading MORE germs, instead of cleaning up! Either toss the sponges and use paper towels instead, or, if you're too attached to your sponge to throw it away, deodorize it once a week. How? Place it in a shallow dish with about a half-inch of water in it. Put the dish in the microwave on high for two minutes on each side to zap the bacteria. Be careful! When it comes out of the microwave, it'll be clean, but very hot! 2. Wood or plastic? This is the age-old question: which are better, wood or plastic cutting boards? The answer — wood, by a long shot. While this seems contrary to all common sense, it's all in the biology of the woods we use to make our cutting boards. They absorb harmful bacteria away from the surface, where it dies. But plastic cutting boards harbor bacteria, and foster its growth and spread it around. That's because when your plastic cutting board gets those little grooves in it from being cut with a knife, they never really get clean. So wood it is, even for meats and cheeses. Just be sure to ash thoroughly with warm, soapy water, and allow to air dry before putting them away. |
| 7 Reasons I Still Love Play-Doh … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 11:52 PM PST In a lot of ways, I am still a kid at heart. If I could get away with it, I would probably still play with my Barbie dolls all the time. As it is, there are some toys I still play with, for various reasons. Play-Doh is one of them. I can’t help it! Maybe after reading about the reasons I still love Play-Doh, you’ll see where I am coming from – and maybe even agree! 1. Stress ReliefPlay-Doh is a stress reliever for me. Some people play with those weird, pink, goo-filled heads you can find at Spencer’s. Some people squeeze rubber balls. Some people chew their nails. I like to knead Play-Doh. You know how it can be really firm when you first take it out of the container, but if you work it enough, it gets as soft and pliable as actual dough? That’s my favorite! 2. The SmellPlay-Doh smells like happiness and childhood. It smells like clay and grade school and innocence, plus a complete lack of responsibilities. Smelling Play-Doh makes me remember a time where the only things I had to worry about were being quiet and making myself fall asleep during nap time, and if my mom had packed the right Lunchable in my Care Bear box. 3. The TextureThe texture of Play-Doh is also evocative of childhood memories. It just feels nice. It’s not like Gak, it doesn’t squish between your fingers – but it also doesn’t get stuck on everything. It’s just malleable and awesome and it feels so … so young, somehow. |
| 5 Things You Don’t Need in Life … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 04:50 PM PST 1. Shoes We Can’t Afford
Much like the $3,495 Alexander McQueen floral wedge shoes. Yes, that much for these gold beauties…Wait…perhaps we DO need these? What do you guys think? 2. Reality TV stars Making MoviesThe Situation, apparently, wants to do movies. Should we start a group that will monitor those who plan on representing him? Because, clearly, we can’t have them finding acting work for this guy. 3. Bad HabitsIs snacking after 10PM one of your unhealthy habits? If you wish to be rid of it, you may want to share Melissa’s adventure over at College Candy. 4. Unwanted VisitorsIn this case, vampires. If you don’t want them soiling your cushions or, you know, drinking your blood, keep these things in mind. 5. PestsWe are referring to creatures here that just love to ruin all the hard work you’ve put on making your garden beautiful. Check the link for great tips. Are there more things in life you think we don’t need? We’d love to hear your opinions! |
