7 Kind Things to Do This Year …

7 Kind Things to Do This Year …

I always believe in doing acts of random kindness. You can really change a persons mood by doing this. Don't just do it for people you know, but do it for strangers that you see walking past you. There are various acts of kindness that you can do. In the blog below, I am going to give you 7 kind things to do this year.

7. Deposit Coins in an Expired Meter

When you see an expired meter and someone is parked in front of it, then deposit some coins in it for the individual. Surely, they are going to enjoy your act of kindness as it will save them from a ticket.

6. Send Care Packages to Soldiers

There is a site that I would like to give you: anysoldier.com. You should really look into this site. There are soldiers names, which you can go through and randomly send them care packages and letters. I always thought this was a good idea as I know they need to know we support them – imagine the soldiers face when they open a care package you sent over.

5. Help Someone Randomly

When you see someone in a parking lot struggling to lift something, don't be afraid to go over and offer your help. I remember when my Mustang got stuck on the beach, an old guy stayed and made sure he got the car out. See, it's things like that that will leave an impression on people.

8 Reasons I Love Sports Cars …

8 Reasons I Love Sports Cars …

Yet again my favorite subject and I would like to give you the reasons why I love sport cars. Sport cars are loved by millions of people and sometimes can be misused. You should always drive safe and responsible when you own one of these nice cars, because who would want to mess up the neat interior or exterior. Also, for your own safety and the people around you of course! Here is my 8 Reasons I Love Sports Cars …

8. Performance

Performance of the Engine amazes me with sport cars. Not just the kick back in the seat, but the braking and turning. Turning on the dime and braking when needed is a must for all sports cars. Some sports cars have decelerators to help them slow down faster for fast stopping.

7. Waxing the Car

The fun part is waxing the car! Sports cars need to look nice and Turtle wax is the way to go. However, I use the expensive type of wax. Buffing and shinning the car to reflect the sunlight is fun to me. That's kind of weird, but I like the effect and knowing I take care of my sports car.

6. Tuning

My husband does the tuning to our sports car and boy does he know how to tune. The car runs like a beast! However, lots of money goes into sport cars to keep them maintain, but that's an expense I don't mind paying. There also easy to tune and change oil.

7 Reasons to Date a Good Boy …

7 Reasons to Date a Good Boy …

If you have been having bad luck with dating, then it might be because you have been dating bad boys. You should try dating a good boy. Sure, at first, this may sound boring to you, but I think this is what you need. There are various reasons as to why you should date a good boy and in this blog, I am going to give you 7 reasons to date a good boy.

7. He Used Clean Language

I never mind the dirty language, but there are some girls out there that do mind dirty language. For that reason, dating a good boy is a plus. Good boys have a tendency not to cuss as much as those bad boys. At least, no when there is a girl in their presence.

6. He Cares About You

I have noticed that many good boys don't just sit there and think of themselves. They watch what they do because they care about you. They make sure they do not hurt you in any way.

5. He Probably Doesn't Sleep Around

This is great, because you will not have to worry as much about diseases or being compared to someone else. Good boys tend to be loyal to the one they are with, otherwise, they would not be a good boy.

8 of My Favorite DMB Songs …

8 of My Favorite DMB Songs …

I am a ginormous Dave Matthews Band fan. Not only do I love the band, but I love Dave Matthews all on his own. I’ve seen the band in concern something like five thousand times (slight exaggeration – it’s more like five) and I am never disappointed, even if I have nosebleed seats. Here are 8 of my favorite DMB songs, some complete with their amazing videos, some just featuring the music, but either way I hope you enjoy!

1. Crash Into Me

I grew up in Virginia, near Lynchburg – and, of course, the band was based in VA for the longest time. I remember the exact day I first heard this song, which also happened to be the day I promptly fell in love. This is one of my absolute favorite love songs – and one of my absolute favorite Dave songs! The lyrics are just so beautiful, so evocative – "I’m bareboned and crazy … for you." – and the video is an absolute work of art.

2. Halloween

A lot of may favorite DMB songs aren’t exactly popular on a mainstream level – and those are usually my favorite-favorite. "Halloween," for example, is something of a cult favorite among DMB fans, and you only ever hear it when they play live – and only then if you are very, very lucky. I love the rhythm of this song, the town, and the fact that Dave growls. Oh yes, he growls.

8 Comedians I Think Are Hilarious …

I love to laugh, so one of my favorite things is to sit down and watch a good comedy show, whether it’s on TV or in person. My sense of humor is pretty volatile, ranging from campy and cheesy to morbid and cynical. I think you’ll see what I mean when you check out these 8 comedians I think are hilarious!

1. Mo’Nique

I first saw Mo’Nique when she was doing the Queens of Comedy with comedians like Sommore and Adele Givens, whom I also love. Mo’Nique is by far my favorite, though, although I love her standup more than I love her sitcom appearances. I love her because she loves herself – and because she applauds and celebrates the beauty of fuller figured women. She is so hilarious – and quite beautiful, especially when she laughs!

2. Nick Swardson

Sometimes I think gross humor is funny – and my love for Nick Swardson pretty well emphasizes that. I don’t know what it is about this strange little man-child, but I think he’s awesome. I love his movie roles but it’s his standup routines that really gets me. He’s like a little boy using dirty words. And the kid is just adorable; he still looks like he’s twelve or something.

3. Chris Rock

Oh, Chris Rock. You pretty much either love him or hate him, but I love him. He’s more well known as a movie star these days, but I still love his comedy specials best. The man is just funny. His facial expressions, his stories, his jokes, his observations. I have to do a small plug here, too: he put together a documentary called Good Hair that is just awesome. I’ve already watched it about 10 times.

8 Gorgeous Red Shoes to Wear on Valentine’s Day …

Whether you plan to wear pink, red, or black this Valentine's Day, one thing's for sure: you'll want to consider wearing red shoes, too! They're sexy, fun, and eye-catching, the icing on the cupcake of your carefully chosen cupcake. But a lot of the red shoes I've seen lately look trampy and cheap, not pretty and sweet. I did a little more digging, and found a bunch of marvelous red shoes at one of my favorite online shops, ModCloth… and here they are! Here are 8 gorgeous red shoes to wear this Valentine's Day.

1. Sure Shine Heel in Crimson

Sure Shine Heel in Crimson

The name of this shoe tells most of the story, for you're sure to shine in them. They're made by Kensie Girl, with a 3-inch stiletto heel, made of glossy red faux patent leather, curvy and sleek. Pair with a fave LBD or with a pair of skinny jeans and a sequined tunic, and you're ready to shine on Valentine's Day!

2. Words Can’t Express Heel in Red

Words Can't Express Heel in Red
Price: $137.99 at modcloth.com
Super-fancy, richly detailed, wildly funky — I can't decide how to describe these shoes! Let's start by saying they're red, made by Irregular Choice. Add that they feature quilted suede uppers, a 4½-inch heel (including the 1-inch platform)… and a frilly flower whose every petal is a different fabulous fabric, perched upon the heel. Wear these with an understated outfit, and get ready to be noticed and admired, not-so-secretly.

3. Red Carpet Roll Out Wedge

Red Carpet Roll Out Wedge

Wedges are hot this season, and to make this pair even more sultry, they're made of a fiery red vegan-friendly faux suede with cutout detailing on the uppers, a covered wedge, and dual rows of shiny gold-tone studs on the top of the foot. Pair with a long black skirt (or skinny jeans) and a sassy red top (or white, if you can't match the reds).

8 Celebs I Dislike for No Obvious Reason …

Some celebs have great style, some win me over with their works and some are acting so bad, no wonder I don't like them. However, there will always be a certain number of celebs I just can't stand no matter how hard I try. It's not because they are bad, rude or untalented… I just don't like them, period. There's something about them that puts me off and, no matter how hard I try I just can't get myself to like them. So, here's a list of those, for a change.

1. Miley Cyrus

I've said it before and I'll say it again – Miley is a sweet kid and a very talented singer. The only problem is that I just can't stand her. She's got a great style and all but, one look at her, and my lunch is as good as lost. There's something about her face that bothers me but I still can't quite figure out what… And, I'm not talking about looks here but something more than that.

2. Jessica Simpson

Well, I guess she's not the most talented one out there and, if the doctors ever find a way to transplant brains, she certainly wouldn't qualify as a donor. But, again, that's not the reason why I don't like her. I've always remembered Jessica as "not Britney but the one that looks like her" but, the lack of personality isn't exactly it, either. I'd say it's all of the above, plus the" factor X". You know… the thing that makes you say, "Thank God stupidity is not contagious".

3. Justin Bieber

Baby, baby, baby, oh yeah! Love the song, can't stand the kid! What's with all the fuss, anyways? I mean, he's just a kid who happened to be a good singer – he certainly isn't the only talented child in the world! You take a kid, get all the big names to work with him, give him the hit songs and there you have it – the next singing sensation! The market is there, the kid still has a couple of good years before his voice starts to change, so all you have to do until then is figure out how to squeeze out as much money as you can. The only problem is that, until that happens, I have to be the one bombarded with his "image and likeness" – I open a magazine, there he is, turn on the TV, there he is again. Whoa! Taylor Swift has kissed Justin Bieber! OMG! Katy Perry said he's cute! Double OMG! …blah…

7 Cool Valentine’s Day Quotes …

If you're looking for a love quote to put on a card to your loved one, than see if any of the 7 cool Valentine's Day quotes I've listed below are of interest to you. They were fun to find! I'm always up for something that strays away from the traditional 'Roses are red, Violets are blue…'. Maybe one of the quotes below will inspire you to write your own lovely limerick.

7. I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. – Unknown Author

Isn't this the truth? When someone mentions Valentine's Day, I think of heart-shaped items, kisses, love letters, and romantic moments. However, the Latin word 'cupido' does mean 'desire', which is why he's associated with love and usually Valentine's Day as well. He is considered to be the god of affection, desire, and erotic love, which makes sense because he is said to be the son of the goddess Venus.

6. Love is missing someone whenever you're apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you're close in heart. – Kay Knudsen

I like quotes that rhyme. This one is sweet, it rhymes, and it isn't cheesy. I think it's perfect for a Valentine's Day card to just about anyone, since it isn't directed toward any particular person. It is merely a statement and a lovely one at that.

5. The Eskimos had fifty-two names for snow because it was important to them: there ought to be as many for love. – Margaret Atwood

It's hard to imagine that there would be that many names for snow, which is what attracted me first to this quote. I do have to agree with Miss Atwood though, love is definitely important enough to require more than just a single word for it.

9 absolutely essential cleaning tips …

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! It seems to be what a woman’s life consists of! But, we women have friends that look into all the ways to make cleaning easier on us, so we have more time to go shopping! I’ve got nine little secrets to cleaning to share with you, so listen up!

1. Save Time & Money!

Forget buying all kinds of cleaners and special rags for cleaning. The basics you need for cleaning your entire house are as follows: old t-shirts or old towels, a toothbrush, a couple spray bottles, broom, mop, 1 small bucket, vinegar, baking soda, bleach, and furniture polish, and eucalyptus oil. Mixing 1/3 vinegar with 2/3 water in a spray bottle will take care of cleaning most everything in your home, like windows, counters, floors, etc. (Some people add eucalyptus oil for a better smell) Clean your bathtub and sinks with baking soda and vinegar. And furniture polish will take care of all your wood! How simple is that?

2. Store Where You Use

Store your items where you use them – not across the house. Store your plates and dinnerware closest to your table. Keep your glasses next to the fridge, your knives and cutting board next to the area on your counter where you cut, etc.

3. Start High & Work Down

Start at the ceiling and work towards the floor. Go into a room, knock the cobwebs down from the ceiling, clean the ceiling fan, dust the high stuff, dust the low stuff, straighten furniture, and finish with the floor. To do otherwise could undo some of what you’re already done!

7 Ways to Avoid a Stroke …

You might be part of the unfortunate bunch to have the type of genetics that seems to include a long line of family members who have suffered from strokes. However, even if genetics seem to be working against you, there are still at least 7 ways to avoid a stroke. I’ve posted these 7 ways in a list below. Take a look at them and see if you already do some of these things. It’s definitely never too late to start.

7. Exercise

Most people have finally come to realize that adding exercise into any part of your day will give you great health benefits. Exercise is not only good for the heart, but also muscles too. Studies show that doing light housework, going for a short walk, or pulling weeds in the garden is enough to reduce the chances of having a stroke.

6. Cut down on the sugar

Excessive sugar isn't good for anyone, health wise or for teeth. Cutting down on the amount of sugar you eat will not only reduce the risk of diabetes, but it will also help you keep your weight in check a bit better. Your body can only use so much sugar, then the excess is stored as fat. When you quit supplying your body with an abundance of sugar it will then resort to using stored fat for the energy it needs.

5. Don’t eat out as often

Fast food and even some sit-down restaurants deep fry a lot of their menu choices. Most fast food restaurants have menus made up entirely of fried foods. They are great places for a quick meal, but eating too many meals at these places will clog your arteries with a fatty residue that is just waiting to develop into the perfect trigger for causing a stroke.

7 Gym Hygiene Tips …

Nothing is worse than arriving at the gym pumped for a workout, only to sit down on the weight bench and find yourself in a pool of another girl's sweat. While many people use public gyms to work out on a regular basis, it seems that the largest percentage of them could use a lesson or two in the world of gym hygiene. Here are seven important gym hygiene tips that everyone should know.

1. Hands off!

The quickest way to spread germs is to touch your face with dirty hands. Make sure that you are never putting your hands on your face after touching gym equipment or you can wind up with a nasty case of the flu. The quickest way to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands after a work out and be careful not to touch your face while you are in the gym.

2. Wipe everything down

Carry a towel with you from one piece of equipment to the next and give everything a quick wipe down before you start exercising. You don't have to bathe the barbells in Clorox wipes, but it certainly couldn't hurt to wipe up the drops of sweat the last guy left behind.

3. BYOM

Bring your own mat for floor exercises. If you are participating in yoga or other classes that require you to use mats, don't put your face on the nasty communal mats lining the gym floor. Instead, bring your own so you can be sure it is clean and germ free.

8 Fashion Tips For a More Mature Gothic Look …

I love gothic clothing and culture, but even when I was younger never really went for the full-on look, as I don't like to dress the same as everyone else. Now that I'm a bit more mature (only a bit), I still like elements of gothic style. If you share this taste, but feel that you don't want to overdo it, the key is to pick out elements of gothic style. Try wearing one of the following …

1. Boots

Who says that you can only wear gothic boots as part of a gothic outfit? Try a pair of Victoriana ankle boots with a work suit or a long dress. Or take a pair of platform boots with straps up the legs and wear with jeans, skirt or leggings.

2. Hair Colour

You can get a gothic touch by changing your hair colour. If you have dark hair, using a deep red can give your hair a lovely sheen without being too strong. For a bolder look, try a temporary colour or hair clips. Or if you have long hair, add streaks to the top layers (these can then be disguised for work by pulling your hair into a ponytail.

3. Makeup

One way of adding a gothic touch is with makeup. It's best not to apply it too heavily though, or you'll look like you're trying too hard. Stick to the old rule of either emphasising the eyes or the lips.

7 Tips to Keeping your Bathroom Smelling and Looking Great …

Whether you care to admit it or not, most people spend a good 2 hours a day in their bathrooms. There is no reason why it shouldn't be a place that is inviting and appealing to the eye and nose. Whether you have a large or small bathroom, there are a number of ways you can make it look fantastic without burning a hole in your pocket. Here are 7 tips to keeping your bathroom smelling and looking great.

1. A few well placed plants

Potted plants can do wonders for any room and more so for a bathroom. If you have a little space in your bathroom, consider placing a few pots in a neglected corner. The natural light your bathroom receives should be sufficient to nurture your selection. It gives the room a homely and warm atmosphere while at the same time absorbing any unpleasant odors.

2. A weekly scrub down

A weekly thorough bathroom scrub down is essential to keep it looking and smelling clean. Use good quality cleaners and brushes to scrape down all the dirt and grime that collects after repeated use. Also if a regular scrub down is performed, it is usually easier to complete than if your cleaning activities are less frequent.

3. Spray the rugs with fabric freshener

Bathroom rugs get damp with the moisture that collects in bathrooms and can start to stink. A monthly pop in the washing machine can take out the dampness but it is also wise to regularly spray them with a fabric refresher. This keeps away the dank odors away and makes your bathroom smell fresher.

7 Reasons Not to Drive a Big Car …

Why is it that in today's eco-conscious culture big saloons and people carriers are still the most popular vehicles on the road? Huge SUV's designed for conquering the desert, giant 4x4s with fifty seats and one passenger: they're literally everywhere you go. And you know what ladies? I can think of a million reasons why I'd rather drive something smaller, cheaper and (let's be honest here) cuter.

1. Gasoline Genius

SUV's, people carriers and fancy saloons use a LOT of petrol. There really is no getting around that fact – even hybrids burn more fuel than your average supermini! I don't know if you've noticed, girls, but everyone's kind of short of cash at the moment, and the less of it we spend on transport, the more we have left over for other necessities. Like shoes, for example.

2. Cheap Chic

While we're on the subject of money, SUVs cost a lot of it. A brand new, four-seater supermini will, on average, set you back less than a third of the price of a second hand Escalade! And we're talking a top of the range little car here: straight off the show room floor, anti-lock braking, aircon, electric seats … the works!

3. Perfect Parking

If you work in the city or drive to school, you'll know what I'm saying here. Parking can be a real pain in the neck. Trying again and again to back into that one free space, surrounded by streams of waiting traffic and crowds of pedestrians … It's just a nightmare, and one that is made infinitely worse if your car is big and unwieldy. Trust me girls, in situations like these you want a supermini. You'll be reversing into that spot like a parking pro!

7 Best Reference Apps for the iPhone …

Of all the apps on my iPod Touch and iPhone, there are a few I use almost every day — my reference apps. They're incredibly handy and helpful, and there are thousands available for almost every purpose or topic. I've tried so many of them, so I can tell you which is better, dictionary.com or Merriam-Webster… here are the 7 best reference apps for the iPhone… well, at least the ones I use most!

1. Solar Walk

Solar Walk
Price: $2.99 at itunes.apple.com
This app is a must-have for any backyard astronomer, giving you an up-close look at everything in our galaxy, including the planets (and ex-planets, like poor demoted dwarf planet, Pluto). It's amazingly detailed, rendered in 3D, and available in a range of languages. It's so good, it won an Apple Design Award in 2010.

2. Mactracker

Mactracker
Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
Wondering when your precious Mac in your mother's basement was made? Or which OS it can run? This handy app can tell you almost everything about every Mac ever made, and also most Apple electronics and computing products, including the iPhone, iPod, and more. I don't know why I love this app so much… possibly because I'm a hopeless nerd and Mac devotee?

3. MoMA

MoMA
Price: FREE at itunes.apple.com
This app is amazing, a remarkable reference tool for the entire Museum of Modern Art collection, with information on exhibits, tickets, artists, and more. It's an excellent time-killer, to browse through the collections while waiting in line… and it's helpful while trying to identify that print you love in the shop widow across the street.

8 Gorgeous Anthropologie Dresses to Drool Over or Sew ….

I have a confession: whenever I feel the urge to sew a dress, the first thing I do is check Anthopologie. I drool over their lovely dresses and then somehow, a design pops into my head. If you follow craft blogs, you have probably encountered one or two sew-ers who love to make their own versions of these dresses. I am guilty of this as well. Here are 8 that I’d love to “dupe,” for lack of a better word. Now if you can’t sew, you can always buy these. Prices are included for your shopping convenience.

1. Sun Shade

Price: $158 at anthropologie

The color is pretty and will be perfect for spring. I have a hard time sewing sleeves so this is a perfect afternoon project for me. Great sewing options would be adding a smocked back. This way, you no longer have to add a zipper. You can also use fabric with blue stripes and call your version “ocean shade.”

2. Take Action

Price: $168 at anthropologie

This is a pretty easy dress to make as well. I suggest a fabric this rich and fun, too, because look at it: it’s beyond perfect. You don’t have to add a zipper since it has an elasticized waist. That’s always a good thing. Make it a mini if you dare. That’s what I’d do, anyway.

3. Study of Shapes

Price: $158 at anthropologie

Halter top and A-line bottom: two easy things to sew. I am not a huge fan of this fabric or pattern so I’ll probably go with a plain version. Make sure that you stick to the slightly wide halter ties because they will make the back part of the dress even more gorgeous.

4. Gull Wings

Price: $168 at anthropologie

You will become one cutie nautical goddess in this easy to construct dress. Three parts I imagine will be fun sewing: the white piping ruffles, the sexy keyhole-style back, and the waist tie. If I ever give this dress a go on the sewing machine, I think I’ll choose a teal/yellow combination. Blue/white seems costume-y for my taste.

7 Tips for Getting Your Dog to Behave …

Dogs misbehave. It’s a way of life. I’ve got good dogs, but they do things they shouldn’t – like go in the house, or refuse to listen when they’re called. The Lab, especially, is a princess and likes to have her own way. They bark when they shouldn’t and do all sorts of things that aren’t bad, necessarily, but they need to learn better practices. Here are 7 tips for getting your dog to behave better.

1. Practice

Practice makes perfect. Teaching a dog the right behavior is a lesson in patience for the pooches and their owners both. You can’t get fed up and you can’t quit. You just have to persevere and keep practicing – it will pay off in the end. Just remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and dogs won’t learn in a day either.

2. Act Like the Alpha

Your dog needs to know who’s in charge. Case in point: both my dogs and my parents dogs will listen to my dad when they won’t listen to anyone else. He exudes that Alpha male factor that makes them recognize someone else is in charge – not them. This can be difficult for humans to learn. It is also funny; I know this because everyone laughs at me when I try to mimic my dad’s low-toned growl to make the hot dog stop barking.

3. Behaviorist

Sometimes, going to a behaviorist who specializes in dog training might help. This is especially helpful for dogs who really misbehave, such as those who can’t get along with children or other animals. If you’ve adopted a dog from a shelter, this might be an option as well; you don’t always know what ordeals those poor dears have been through before finding a happy home with you.
