| 8 Tips on Selling on Craigslist … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 11:49 AM PST Are you trying to sell some unwanted stuff around the house? Well, craigslist is the way to go, but remember you will get people haggling about the price. People will ask for lower price and some will spam you with unwanted links. I want to give you some tips to 8 Tips on Selling on Craigslist … 8. Catching AudienceGood grammar and catchy words can make some people go crazy over your ad on craigslist. You should always put something on there that is worth buying. People go for the weirdest things and might buy what you have. Always use a catchy ad title and words. They will email or call. 7. DetailsOn your ad always be detailed! This is needed, because some people need to know every detail to what you're selling. You should always tell them if the item works and everything that is wrong with it. Sometimes you should tell them it's broke in the ad if it is, because there is ways to fixing what is broke. This works for video games, electronics and other stuff. 6. Post in The Right DirectoryDon't post in the wrong place! Always post local, unless you sell items over the Internet and ship. Computers should be sold through the computer area and the video games in the video game area. |
| 8 Reasons Girls Love Celebrity Boys … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 11:22 AM PST Many, like myself, wonder why girls go head over heels over celebrity boys. Personally, I view them as normal people. Sure, they are on television, but nonetheless, they are real people and I don't look at them any different. Of course, I am thankful for the entertainment they bring along, but I don't act like they are a piece of meat – I know, it's funny. Anyhow, I am going to give you 8 reasons girls love celebrity boys. 8. TalentedGirls tend to like boys that have a true amount of talent. When you are in school, if a boy has talent, then more girls tend to like him. Well, the same thing goes for celebrities. 7. The HotnessGirls can't seem to get over the hotness that comes along with that talent. I have saw, in my opinion, some pretty bad looking celebrity boys that had tons of girls crawling for him. Being a celebrity on the red carpet can make you look pretty hot. 6. EntertainmentWhere there is talent and hotness, there is going to be entertainment. Girls love entertainment, especially movies. This is a good reason to have a crush on that celebrity boy. |
| 7 Songs I Love by Edwin McCain … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 11:04 AM PST Edwin McCain is hands down one of my favorite artists. I’ve been a fan ever since his first album. I just recently found out that I barely missed one of his shows, the first one to occur remotely near where I happen to be living. I am still entirely sad faced. To alleviate the heartache, I thought I’d share these 7 songs I love by Edwin McCain! 1. I’ll BeThis is hand’s down my favorite. For me, it is the quintessential love song. It is so beautiful. I know it gets overplayed during romantic moments, both in real life and entertainment, but you know what? It deserves that. It is gorgeous. It kind of made me fall in love with Edwin himself! 2. GuinevereThis is a sadly little known song from Edwin’s first album, Honor Among Thieves. It is so romantic, and somehow really steamy, without being at all lewd. It’s based on a love story like that between Lancelot and Guinevere, and it’s just gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. |

| 8 Ways to Keep Yourself Well … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 10:50 AM PST Winter is the season for getting sick. You might catch a cold, you might feel the flu, or the constant cold temperatures and grey days might just make you feel run down and altogether icky. Rather than dealing with that kind of winter malaise, you can do a lot to take care of yourself – starting with these 8 ways to keep yourself well. 1. Work Up a SweatEven though you might think it uses up more energy than it gives back, staying active and making sure to exercise will get your blood pumping and your heart beating. Exercises ultimately energizes you, and that is one of the best ways you can make yourself stay well, especially in the winter time. It doesn’t have to be anything serious; if you’re not into gym workouts, just taking a walk or taking 10-20 minutes for an exercise video will do the trick. 2. Get a MassageMassages are extremely therapeutic. There are even those who say that getting a Swedish massage, even if it only lasts for 45 minutes, can help to activate your immune system, which in turn will fight off all those nasty winter bugs. Besides that, when you make yourself feel good, you are also helping yourself to stay well. 3. Wash UpThere’s a reason there are so many antibacterial soaps and wipes and hand washes available right now. Remember when you were a kid and brought home everything? If you have kids, think about how, now, they come home with every bug that passes through the classroom. Germs are tenacious, and one way to successfully combat them is to wash your hands frequently. You don’t have to get obsessive about it, and certainly be careful about making your skin get dry and cracked. Just have a scrub any time it seems like you’ve come into contact with anything germ laden. |
| 7 Things That Make Me Experience Writer’s Block … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 10:26 AM PST Ah that writer's block! I totally hate it and knowing that it might happen when I'm not expecting to be "disabled" really scares me. I mean, imagine you have an important job to finish up and you keep experiencing a huge block day, after day, after day! Now, I don't know what causes your mind to shut down but there are some things I'm having problems with: 1. Sunny daysMost people find sunny days inspiring! I do too… for everything except writing, unfortunately. Knowing that it's a sunny day outside fills my mind up with a lot of positive thoughts and sometimes, the number of those thoughts is so big that I can't concentrate on just one thing. One moment I'm thinking about this, the next moment I'm thinking about that and before you know it, I need to take a break and get my thoughts sorted out. 2. Change of work environmentNothing gives me a bigger, more lasting writer’s block as the dramatic change of environment in which I work for. Different computer and a different room can significantly affect my inspiration. My “muse” does surprise me sometimes so the change is not always for worse. In fact, getting a new computer has actually given me an inspiration and a chance to write wherever and whenever I want. 3. Narrow spacesMy fiancé's computer, for example, is one of the worst possible places I could ever work in. Located under the wall mounted TV, placed in the corner, with two huge shelves marking the ends of a triangular desk … well, it's literally like a Bermuda triangle in there – every good idea, every witty sentence gets lost in the speed of light! |

| Top 7 Best Presidents in My Opinion … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 10:07 AM PST I've never been much of a history buff, but I do like learning about what accomplishments past presidents have been capable of. After reading about the well-regarded presidents of all time, I made a list of my own. Here is my list of the top 7 best presidents in my opinion. 7. Harry S. Truman
President Truman had a long list of accomplishments well before he ever became president. After he was elected president he ended the war in Europe, which helped to stop the loss of any more troops, both our own as well as those of allies. He approved the plan to re-build Europe, as well as help in reconstructing Japan after dropping two atomic bombs on it. 6. Thomas Jefferson
There are a lot of aspects that went along with President Jefferson's wealth and personal beliefs, but there were three major accomplishments that took place while he was President of the US. First of all, President Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence. Surprisingly, he had wanted a clause inserted into the Declaration that criticized the monarch for introducing slavery. I find this information odd because he gained most of his wealth from his plantations which were ran primarily by slaves under his care. He also founded the University of Virginia and passed the statute of Religious Freedom in Virginia. 5. James Polk
President Polk was placed into office before the Civil war took place. He was concerned with expanding the US and succeeded in this goal. He was able to purchase New Mexico, Arizona, and California after winning the Mexican-American War. He also threatened Britain with war and they agreed to share their ownership of the Pacific Northwest. |
| 7 Ill Effects of High Heels on your Body … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 10:05 AM PST Most of the women in my family spent most of their lives wearing high heels to work. I have personally only worn them a few times and one of those times nearly resulted in a broken ankle. I'm all for donning a pair of heels when wearing an outfit that requires a bit of elegance, but I'd much rather put on a pair of comfy tennis shoes. Here are 7 ill effects of high heels on your body, just in case you aren't aware of just how detrimental these fashionable accessories can be. 7. Lower back painHigh heel shoes are created with fashion in mind and not comfort. There is usually a lot less support in heels than in running shoes or even sandals. The constant pressure on the balls of your feet causes weight distribution to be less even and lower back pain is often the result. Nerves can also become stressed in the lower back because of the odd posture held when wearing high heels. I've dealt with nerve pain in my lower back for many years and it is no fun at all! 6. Foot painThe shape of high heel shoes is meant for holding the foot in a particular position to benefit your appearance, not provide comfort. Resting all your body weight on the balls of your feet is going to cause considerable pain after awhile. Walking around on the balls of your feet all day also tends to create yellowed areas on the bottom of your feet that remain sore even after the high heels are removed. 5. Sore CalvesThis ill effect does often pass once you get used to wearing high heel shoes. However, daily use of high heel shoes not only causes sore calves, but also protruding veins in your legs. Once veins begin to stick out from your legs, they don't usually tend to go back in. This can create some unsightly looking legs for a woman who once prided herself on having nice looking legs. This is something to keep in mind when wearing heels on a regular basis. |
| Posted: 09 Feb 2011 09:48 AM PST I can think of a number of things that make me smile. Of course my kids, husband, as well as the many friends and family members I have are always good at making me smile. I’ve listed below an additional 8 things that make me smile, no matter what type of day I’m having. 8. Receiving a much needed phone call from a friendI have one of those friends who seem to be able to read my mind. She’ll instantly call the moment I’m feeling blue. I’m sure some of you know what I’m talking about. Many people have friends who are close to them and then there is that special one who always seems to know exactly when you need someone to tell you something that will make you smile. 7. Getting seed catalogs in the mailThere is a stack of seed catalogs located next to my desk at all times. Some of them are missing pages, but they never leave the stack unless the newest version from the same seed company can be put in its place. Peeking into the glass front on the mail box and seeing the flower-laden cover of a seed catalog never ceases to put a smile on my face. 6. The arrival of new plants and seeds in the mailThe next best thing to getting a seed catalog in the mail is when the plants or seeds ordered from said catalog finally arrive. Even though I know exactly what is inside the package, I still can’t keep the smile from creeping across my face. There’s something very exciting about getting a package filled with seeds and plants to put in my garden. |
| 10 Inspiring Quotes About Love … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 09:32 AM PST There is probably no other topic that has been the subject of so many quotes as love has. Some are amusing, others sad, but here are some I've picked out that are thought-provoking and inspirational. 1. 'A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.'
How right Gandhi was when he said this! We've all been hurt through loving someone, and it takes a lot of courage to try again. But if or when we do, it can be so rewarding that we're glad we took that step. 2. 'Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.'
Zelda Fitzgerald must have known a thing or two about love. It is often said that love is limitless; ask any mother how much she loves her children. We can love in so many different ways. 3. The only abnormality is the incapacity to love
Have you ever met someone who seems incapable of loving and allowing themselves to be loved? I feel sorry for such people, as they are missing out on so much joy and emotion. |

| Posted: 09 Feb 2011 09:07 AM PST There is no getting around the fact that people change as time goes by. We may find ourselves in a relationship that is no longer working and know we need to end it. When faced with the end of a once close relationship we often put off the inevitable by procrastinating and not addressing the situation head-on. What are the best ways to let him down easy? There are essentially seven ways to best break off a relationship and minimize hurt feelings. 1. Be kindThe Golden Rule tells us to treat others as we would like to be treated. With that in mind, tell him the news the same way you would prefer to hear it from him if the situation were reversed. 2. Be presentLetting him down in person shows him you respect him as a person and that you value the relationship you once shared. Do not ever break it off over Facebook, or in a text! 3. Be braveDo not use email, Twitter, the phone or any other impersonal mode of communication to inform him that the relationship is over. While it may be effective it would also be considered by most people to be tacky, cold and callous. Don't let him hear the news second hand. Have the courage to tell him yourself; at least he will not have the pain of being the last to know. |
| 7 Tips to Help you Forgive and Forget … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 08:58 AM PST There are many occasions when someone close to us does or says something that is almost impossible to forgive leave alone forget. It could involve breaking your trust in some way, betraying you or generally being insensitive to you. At times like this, it probably seems like there is no way you will ever get over the anger and disappointment but holding on to it will get you nowhere. Here are 7 tips to help you forgive and forget. 1. Your enemy is unaffected by your angerThe first thing you have to understand is that the focus of all your hurt and anger is unaffected by your constant venom and disgust. They might be aware that you are hurt and unhappy but it is certainly not going to affect them the way it is affecting you. When you come to this realization you may also acknowledge that forgiving and forgetting is the best way to become happy again. 2. Try and pick up some learning from the experienceWhether or not you are believer in fate and destiny, you can most likely acknowledge that everything happens for the best. Every experience you go through will teach you something and honestly you will learn more from the bad ones than the good ones. So in an effort to forgive and forget try to focus on the learning you gained from the experience. 3. Listen to the explanation and apologiesSometimes it can actually help you to listen to the explanations and apologies offered by the individual who has hurt you. Knowing that they are sorry and understanding why they did what they did can hasten you on your journey towards forgiveness. So take a few minutes and listen to what they have to say. It just might help you. |
| 7 Things You Didn’t Know About Coffee … Posted: 09 Feb 2011 08:57 AM PST Necessity. Vice. Lifesaver. Addicting. Magic Juice. These are things that most of us know about coffee from experience. That, and the preference we have for drinking it (I'm a black-and-strong brew kind of gal). 1. BlackBlack coffee has ZERO calories, so drink up (so long as you follow the 3-4 cups per day guideline). I bet all you diet revelers are basking in the glory of your hot cup right now, but sadly, most of you rely on the sugary, foamy concoctions courtesy of your local barista – which can oftentimes contain more calories than your lunch. Read on… 2. SweetenedDespite the lack of calories in an untouched brew, 30% of coffee drinkers (in the United States) add sweeteners (pssst… you're ruining it!). But if you HAVE to use sugar, use a REAL packet or spoonful of granules – artificial sweeteners alter the taste of coffee. And if that's your purpose, WHY ARE YOU DRINKING COFFEE? 3. CaffeinatedDark roast has LESS caffeine than light roast. That said, espresso has 1/3 the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. My question? Why doesn't it feel like that? I am bugging out of my mind after drinking an Americano. Alas, it's true (it's a Jedi coffee mind trick). Two pots tomorrow, then. But dark roasted blends are also more dehydrating. *sigh* OK… two more bottles of water too. |

| 7 Kinds of Car Maintenance Every Girl Should Know … Posted: 08 Feb 2011 11:54 PM PST Every girl needs to know a little bit about cards. I am honestly only just now realizing that. The year I lived in Detroit, I didn’t have a car, I just used the Better Half’s. Now I do have one … and something is always going wrong with it! I’ve also finally realized what a hassle it is to wait for my parents to visit once it’s broken down, so my dad can do something about it. I am on a mission to learn small car repairs! And during the course of that mission, I’ve discovered 7 kinds of car maintenance every girl should know. 1. Checking Tire PressureYou know, sometimes your tires get a little low. Sometimes that’s okay. Sometimes, it’s not. Sometimes, in fact, it might point to big trouble – you might need a new tire, or you might need to add a little air into your existing one. For this one, you may need to buy a little pressure gauge – then you’re going to have to learn how to deal with the valve system on the tire without getting freaked out because it’s hissing. Yes, I did this once. 2. Changing TiresI know my dad taught me this once. I know he did. Like, firsthand, up close and personally, so I would know what was what. And I’m positive I learned about it in my mandatory driver’s ed class in high school – but we only read about the steps, we didn’t actually do them. My knowledge of how to do this thus got lost in the sands of time, but I need to learn again. It’s easier than waiting on AAA, or relying on the kindness of the strangers speeding by you on the highway. 3. Changing Spark PlugsI’ve never had to change a spark plug, but it happens. They pop out and need switched out, or simply tightened. It’s a simple job once you know what you’re looking for and what to do when you find it, and so it’s worth figuring it out before you ever have to get to this point. |
| 5 Beautiful Bling to Bring Home … Posted: 08 Feb 2011 10:06 PM PST 1. A Touch of Fierce
Fierce in the form of a fang necklace. We suggest a silver version, much like the one Valerie Boster is wearing here. Because, you know, a fang necklace in natural colors is much too masculine. 2. A Touch of CountryThis set of embellished bracelets look cute and can be your everyday go-to accessories. I suggest you make your own, though, so that you can include the beads that you like. 3. A Touch of Old TraditionsWhile I love making dreamcatchers, I’ve never been one to wear them as jewelry. Perhaps because I’ve never made TINY dreamcatchers… Anyway, get yourself a necklace for that old world feel. 4. A Touch of the WorldGo colorful and silver-set with fab pieces that remind you of Morocco and other parts of Africa. Check out the link for pieces that Karen finds beautiful. 5. A Touch of the SeaWhy limit yourself to nautical-inspired dressed when you can channel the theme through your jewelry as well? Start with these simple but cute anchor earrings. I don’t know about you but I can never have enough bling. In fact, I’m in the middle of crafting another necklace stand for my growing collection. Are you guilty of bling-hoarding as well? |
