7 Reasons why Garlic is Good for you …

While garlic may make your breath stink and make it harsh to kiss, there are still some benefits of it. Years ago, I didn't know there were so many benefits to garlic, until a friend of mine pointed it out to me. I know, I'm still not as big of a garlic eater as I should be. I would like to pass the information to everyone and give you a blog on 7 reasons why garlic is good for you …

7. Natural Immune Booster

Garlic is a natural immune booster. It helps fight disease and sickness. So, if you do not like being sick (no one does that I know of), you should consume some garlic regularly.

6. Thins the Blood

Garlic also thins the blood. This helps to lower the blood pressure. It also helps to stop any clots from forming.

5. Memory

Another reason I tell you that you should consume garlic regularly is because it helps improve the memory. It also helps to improve the brain function. I don't know about you, but I would like to have a good memory for as long as I can.

7 Tips on Coping with a Blizzard …

7 Tips on Coping with a Blizzard …

So my state recently got hit to the mother of all blizzards. The snow was piled up so high, it was almost taller than me. And everybody went crazy, even though this is an area accustomed to blizzards. Sadly the Better Half, who has only experienced two east coast winters, ever, was one of the crazies. I felt bad – when I wasn’t giggling secretly to myself. Still, blizzards can be scary and also boring, because of the likelihood of getting snowed in someplace. So here are 7 tips on coping with a blizzard that may help next time!

1. Keep Warm and Hydrated

The heat in our apartment went out right after this last blizzard. Very bad. You have to stay warm during a blizzard, inside and outside. Because of the colder temperatures, it’s also important to stay hydrated, because that will actually help you stay warm. Best piece of advice: don’t, under any circumstances, let your feet get cold or wet. The rest of you will soon follow, and be miserable.

2. Wait to Shovel

This seems like it’s self-explanatory, but apparently not, judging from what I saw this last time. If you’re getting bucket loads of snow, don’t start shoveling or snow blowing while it’s still coming down. That’s an exercise in futility. Even if you can’t wait until it stops completely, at least wait until it slows down a bit.

3. Have the Right Supplies

When you’re driving, during the winter it’s a good idea to have certain things, just in case. Have some water in your car. Have a gas can, some flares and flashlights, a first aid kit, and things like that. It’s also a good idea to have some blankets, and some spare shoes and socks, if not an entire outfit of spare clothing – warm, of course!

7 Things to Know About Online Shopping …

7 Things to Know About Online Shopping …

Online shopping looks simple, fast and very easy so, once you start browsing through various online shops, you'll definitely feel the need to make a purchase. However, shopping over the internet isn't all fun and games so it's best to do some research before you decide to hit the "checkout" button. Here's some basic things you need to have in mind:

1. You can never be too safe

There's always the way to hack into the system and turn your supposedly safe shopping experience into a nightmare. Okay, visiting trusted sites only is a good start but, let's face it, if hackers could manage to find their way inside Pentagon's database, how much time and effort do you think they will need to take control over a simple online shop? Don't use your company's credit card or any of the other cards associated with your savings accounts – get a new card you'll load before each purchase. PayPal is also a quick, safe way to get the transaction done without the risk of revealing any info that, if fallen into the wrong hands, might cause you to lose big money.

2. There are hidden costs

Okay, so you see this dress and think, "Great, 30 bucks, I'm taking it!" but, you won't stop to think about shipping and handling costs until you reach the checkout and already feel too attached to the garment to let it go. I often get quite disappointed when I realize that, with VAT and shipping costs added, my fabulous find doesn't seem so fabulous anymore because, for that amount of money, I can get it in the shop, without the special online sale. Ten bucks here, five bucks there, eagerly waiting for the postman… Sometimes it's just not worth it.

8 Cards to Send for a Wedding …

8 Cards to Send for a Wedding …

Finding the perfect "thank you" cards for a wedding can be difficult – and expensive. Since I’m randomly and sporadically in the process of planning my own wedding, I am constantly on the lookout for ways to cut corners and save money without having to sacrifice stylishness. To that end, Target has seriously been my best friend. Here are 8 cards to send for a wedding when you need to say "thank you" to your guests. Let’s see if you like them too!

1. The Natural Approach

The Natural Approach
Price: $22.99 at target.com
Sometimes natural is the best choice. These thank you cards are simple but lovely, with a matte finish that looks extremely high quality. Of course, generally speaking, your thank you cards should tie in with the wedding theme, so these will work if your wedding colors were more neutral and natural as well.

2. Sweet Simplicity

Sweet Simplicity
Price: $18.99 at target.com
Sometimes all you want is something simple, though. Cards like these are simple but extremely elegant (and FYI, I’m pretty sure you can get them in silver as well). A card like this one leaves you the opportunity to write your own message, whether it is generic or personalized to every recipient.

3. Beachy Peachy

Beachy Peachy
Price: $16.99 at target.com
Beach weddings are extremely popular. Not right now, of course, unless it’s a destination wedding, but you get the idea. Beach weddings deserve beach themed cards, and this one is appropriate without being too cheesy. It’s sweet as well, the sight of the stick figure bride and groom together. I don’t know, I wouldn’t ever have a beach wedding but I think this card is cute.

10 Life Lessons Everyone Needs to Know …

10 Life Lessons Everyone Needs to Know …

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could live your life in retrospect or hindsight? You’d always know all the things you need to know. Learning life lessons, however, comes the hard way: through firsthand experience. Still, sometimes you can get a gimme – like by checking out these 10 life lessons everyone needs to know.

1. Do What You Love

There’s an old adage that says, "if you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life." That may be a slight exaggeration, but at the heart it’s true. It’s far better to do something you’re passionate about, than to choose a path that makes someone else happy. I know that’s not always possible at all times, for a variety of reasons – but at some point in your life it will be, and you should take that chance.

2. Don’t Try to Please Everybody

Similarly, although the instinct to please the people you love is understandable, it’s not always practical – or good for you. And, of course, some people spend their time trying to please people whose opinions ultimately don’t matter – ahem, ahem! This is a hard life lesson to learn, especially if your first instinct is to make everyone happy. That can be a good trait, but only in moderation – you can’t please people to the detriment of your own happiness.

3. Do Unto Others

However, that doesn’t mean you have to be a mean and nasty person. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" is another cliché, but it makes for a good life lesson. You can’t make someone be nice to you or respect you or treat you politely – but you can treat them that way, regardless, and come out the bigger person.

10 Best Foods to Eat While You’re on Your Period …

10 Best Foods to Eat While You're on Your Period …

So it's really is that time of the month again. Your Aunt Flo is paying her much unwelcome visit and with her are her gifts of cramps, bloating, and fatigue. Your first instinct may be to reach for the chips and ice cream and lock yourself in your room for the next 5 days, but with these helpful tips, you can break out early! Here are the 10 best foods to eat while you’re on your period.

1. Water

This may seem like a no-brainer, but many women completely forget that their bodies are losing as much fluid as they are and while you may want to reach for the Coca Cola, you best bet is actually H2O. Unlike coffee, colas, or teas, which have caffeine (which could increase muscle cramps) water is pure and good for your body's health all around.

2. Leafy Greens

Leafy green vegetables are loaded with iron rich nutrients that your body needs when you're menstruating. Have a small salad with dinner and you can be sure that you're feeding your body just what it needs. Be careful of eating too much though, as some leafy greens can lead to bloating.

3. Fish

Salmon and tuna are both fish that are rich in Omega 3's and other fatty acids that are great for relaxing the muscles in your body, which may decrease the severity of your cramps. Try a nice tuna roll from your local sushi restaurant, or try grilling up some salmon yourself at home.

7 Flattering Shirt Dresses …

A recent appraisal of my spring clothing has revealed something shocking: I have an overabundance of shirt dresses. I'm not sure when, or how, this happened, but I'm delighted. Shirt dresses are so versatile, and so flattering, I wear them all the time. In winter, I wear them with cute boots, patterned tights, and a cardi; in summer, I wear them with sandals and a pretty jewelry. Now I think I need more of them, so I've been searching my favorite fashion sites to see what they've got. Here are 7 flattering shirt dresses.

1. Comedy Hour Dress

Comedy Hour Dress
Price: $99.99 at modcloth.com
This super-adorable cotton dress tops my must-have list. I assume they named it after the dresses Lucille Ball wore on "I Love Lucy," and it does look like something she'd have worn. It's gorgeous, basic black with white polka dots and trim at the cuffs, collar, and waist. I'd wear this with black patent pumps and a silver necklace.

2. Branching Out Dress

Branching Out Dress
Price: $69.99 at modcloth.com
Western-inspired chambray meets delicate creamy lace, weekday casual meets flirty date night, and suddenly I have to add this dress to my shopping cart. The lace panels are sheer, so be sure to layer this over a cami… and don't forget the creamy tights and cute ankle booties!

3. Spots of Luck Dress

Spots of Luck Dress
Price: $74.99 at modcloth.com
Is it a wrap dress, or a shirt dress, or both? One thing's for sure: it's darling. It features a navy blue background with red polka dots, a pretty collar and full skirt, with one button at the side and a corset lace-up at the back. Pair with red accessories and shoes, and your favorite red lippy.

8 Foods That Can Trigger a Migraine …

8 Foods That Can Trigger a Migraine …

Anyone who suffers from migraines can tell you how painful and debilitating they can be. They're not just headaches — often they come with extreme light and sound sensitivity and even vision changes, like water spots and zig-zags. No-one's really sure what causes them, but we all have our own unique triggers, like stress, hormones, and things we consume. If you suffer from migraines and aren't quite sure what your triggers are, doctors recommend keeping a food journal, which may help identify the foods or beverages that might cause a migraine. And I can help you get started! Here are 8 foods that can trigger a migraine.

1. Alcohol (beer red wine)

We all knew alcohol can cause a hang-over headache, but for some, it can also trigger a migraine. Red wine and beer seem to be the greatest of the alcohol offenders, but it can vary from one person to the next.

2. Chocolate

Oh dear! While dark chocolate can help prevent a variety of ailments, it can also trigger a migraine. No-one's certain why, but it may have something to do with the caffeine, and it seems to be worse with milk or white chocolate, which contain less real cocoa.

3. Pickled or fermented food

Pickles, sauerkraut, and other pickled and fermented foods may also contribute to, or trigger, a migraine. Keep track of when you eat any of these, and how much, and see if they may be a trigger for you. Some people are completely unaffected by then, but for others, pickles are a tasty, tempting curse.

8 Pick-Me-Ups for Beauty …

Sometimes all you need is a pick-me-up. Have you ever gotten up, looked in the mirror, and just felt blah? I think all women – and probably a surprising number of men as well – have those sorts of days. Well, here are 8 pick-me-ups for beauty that can help you get through those days.

1. Always Use Lotion

Making sure your skin, especially your face, is moisturized can go a long way toward making you feel good. Sometimes I feel like my face just looks too blah and my skin too dull for me to even think about going out without a face full of makeup. Keeping your skin moisturized will also keep it looking healthy and vibrant, however, and who needs makeup when you have a natural glow?

2. Praise Pinks

There are some days when a touch of color is all you need. The color of choice for most this season appears to be pink. A little blush, a little lip gloss, or even a natural flush of color can be all that is necessary to pick you up. Heck, you can even give your cheeks a little pinch.

3. Luxuriate in the Tub

Luxuriating in a long, hot bath can do a lot to make you feel better. As someone who spends half of her life in the bathtub (what? I like to read in there. And take naps. What? Our apartment has the most awesome bathtub ever. What?!), I can attest to this fact. Points if you use bubble bath, or products from LUSH and others like it.

10 Signs You and Your Partner Might Be Drifting Apart …

10 Signs You and Your Partner Might Be Drifting Apart …

Sometimes, people drift apart. You’re in a relationship, and nothing’s really bad, exactly, but things are different. Little things start bothering you, maybe, or little red flags start waving around in your head. It can be painful or painless – it really all depends on the couple. Either way, here are 10 signs you and your partner might be drifting apart.

1. Less Intimacy

Here, I’m not talking about sex – that’s another sign altogether. Intimacy is an entirely different matter, and when your relationship is missing it, you will notice it. You and your partner may, over time, simply stop showing each other any affection. You may not cuddle at night, or hold hands, or do intimate activities together any longer.

2. Lack of Communication

Communication is the key in any relationship. It is such an integral part that, again, you will probably notice this fairly quickly. You two might still be talking to each other, but you may no longer be communicating anything about your feelings, your moods, and so on. You might not be discussing the really important things.

3. Nothing to Talk About

Then again, you might not be talking at all – about anything. Realizing that you and your partner no longer have anything to talk about can be a gradual process. It is not uncommon for some couples to simply realize it one day, like they’ve been hit with a ton of bricks by the realization.

7 Reasons to Date Country Boys …

I have decided to do a blog on 7 reasons to date country boys. However, that does not mean that the other types of boys are not good, so don't be offended. I didn't exactly marry a country boy in the terms of him being raised on a farm. Yet, he still has some of the same attributes. Either way, let me continue by giving you those 7 reasons …

7. Good with His Hands

I have noticed that they are good with their hands. If something needs to be done, then they seem to always have that solution to getting it done. They are good problem solvers around the house for sure.

6. Knows How to Use Equipment

I'm no sure about those guys that do not know how to use chainsaws. Country boys know how to use their equipment.

5. Does Not Mind Getting Dirty

Growing up, I saw some boys that absolutely hated having dirt on them. I found this a bid odd. I mean come on, what type of boy is afraid of getting dirty? I prefer it when a boy does not mind getting dirty – yet, he also has a clean side to him and doesn't mind taking a nice shower.

It's always a tough dilemma, choosing the right nail colour. There are just so many different colours, formulas, and finishes to choose from. Each season there are 'it' colours, but there also stock standard favourites. These are just a few colours that you need right now.

1. O.P.I. Limited Edition Katy Perry Edition in 'Teenage Dream'

O.P.I. Limited Edition Katy Perry Edition in 'Teenage Dream'
Price: $18.10 at asos.com
Teenage Dream was the pop soundtrack to summer and, with this nail polish, you can make that summer last a little bit longer. This glitter pink polish is ferociously flirty. I love the dusty pink shade. Definitely one for the divas.

2. O.P.I. 'Here Today Aragon Tomorrow' Suede Effect Nail Lacquer

O.P.I. 'Here Today Aragon Tomorrow' Suede Effect Nail Lacquer
Price: $18.10 at asos.com
I'm really drawn to this colour right now. This lush emerald colour hits all the right notes. It's perfect for those wanting to make a bold statement. The suede effect is just an added bonus. When wearing this, however, remember not to wear any base or top coat otherwise the suede effect will be lost!

3. Models Own Sultry Nail Polish Collection in 'Proper Copper'

Models Own Sultry Nail Polish Collection in 'Proper Copper'

Feel like a million bucks with this metallic copper on your nails. This quick drying formula is a god send, and there are plenty of colours to choose from. This is probably my 'must have' for right now. It's definitely an on trend colour for all seasons.

10 Things Never to Do in Public …

10 Things Never to Do in Public …

Though it’s good to be comfortable in your surroundings here are 10 Things Never To Do In Public. Seems these days like the difference between right and wrong many don’t know the difference between time and place. I’m sure everyone has seen people do all of these or may even be guilty themselves… how embarrassing!

1. Talk To Yourself

One thing not to do in public is talk to yourself. So you forgot something and suddenly remembered, that’s wonderful! However, do you need to announce it to the world? So you’re trapped in a sticky situation and aren’t sure what to do and need time to think about it. Again, wonderful, however, do you need to go over it aloud in front of everyone on the train? In front of your fellow employees? No. Talking to yourself in public just makes you look crazy. It’s best to keep silent and keep yourself from being rumored to be that girl who sits there and talks to herself.

2. Pick Your Nose

Another thing that most people should never do in public is pick their nose. Sure it’s annoying when you don’t have a kleenex or something’s peeking out of your nose, this does not make it excusable. Toilet paper is a wonderful replacement for kleenex and can be found in every bathroom. Do not pick your nose in public. Not only is it disgusting it also provides many others with laughs.

3. Go To The Bathroom

Another thing that guys are more frequently guilty of than girls you should never do in public is pee. Guys think it’s okay to go along the side of a building and pee, or in an alley. It’s not. As of lately girls themselves have been guilty of this crime, indecent exposure! If you’re drunk and need to go to the bathroom you hold it or find a public bathroom. Peeing outside is unnecessary and not to mention unsanitary and again a ticket for indecent exposure. Also, it being unhealthy to hold it when you have to go is not a justifiable excuse for peeing outside. Have a little self control!

7 Tips on Selling Things Online …

Do you want some helpful tips on selling things online? Well, I have tons of ideas and tips to share for you. When it comes to selling things online, you need to know exactly the right approach to take and how to advertise. Let me give you my 7 Tips on Selling Things Online …

7. Catchy Inventory

What you're selling is a very important part to success. You need to make sure you sell something other people want. These items can be anything such as electronics, knickknacks, or even collector items. Collector items sell real well and this all determined on what items they are. Rare video games go for tons on ebay or even other online Webstores. You can also sell rare comics or even rare war items from the World War 1 or 2.

6. Choose the Right Store To Sell on

This is something you need to think about for a long time. You can take three different ideas that I'm about to tell you about. You can do it for free. You can do it with fees and they advertise or you can make a website and do it yourself through a few approaches. The free approach will take signing up with a free Webstore and advertising your store through many techniques. This is a hard approach, but doable. You can use Ecrater or free Webstore, they both provide free services and free to post. If you decide to take the fee way, then you're going to sign up with eBay or Amazon. These companies allow you to sell your items in their Webstores and they advertise for a fee. Listing fees and selling fees apply as well. If you have a website, you can just use auction software that uses PHP. That's a hard way too. The choice is yours.

5. Advertising

You're store is going to need to be well known to the public and that means you need to know how to advertise. Article marketing is one way to advertise through web linking. You have to make tons of articles that have revenant information about products you sell and add your link to the bottom of the article. This helps advertise your link through Google and other search engines. Another way to advertise is through Google Adwords or advertising through classified ads. You also can make a banner to allow others websites to use to advertise your products.

7 Advantages of Short Nails …

Millions of women all around the world have no problem paying every month to get their nails groomed, decorated, coated with a few layers of UV gel or even transformed from totally short to unbelievably long. Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I've been there myself more than once. However, after having to cut my nails really short and give them a nice big break from all that filing, baking and all, something has changed. I was quite excited to get my nails done again for Christmas and New Year and then, two days before my sister was about to finally sit down and focus her attention and skills on me, I was like, "You know what? I don't really feel like doing this." Six months of having completely short nails has made me realize how cute, practical and totally amazing they are and that's what I want to share with you today. So, here are my pros:

1. They are healthy

Doesn't matter if your nails are strong or weak, if you want them to remain short, you don't have to coat them with any of those gels and whatnot. Now, I'm not going to deal with the quality of those materials now but just mention one simple thing we've all learned in the first year of elementary school – objects shrink when chilled and expand when heated. That goes for your nails too and happens every time you go outside, walk into the room, take a shower or wash your hands and that's why some nail polishes tend to crack after a day or so when applied in a thick layer. Not having to file them or coat them with anything to make them stronger lets them "breathe" and move naturally because they are like hair – if you let things get build up inside, natural shine will never come through.
