7 Beautiful Knobs for Your Cabinets …

If you enjoy finding and repurposing gorgeous antique tables and dressers and such, then you already know the delight of matching just the right knobs to bring the piece up to date while still retaining its vintage charm. You may be tempted to settle for what you can find in the local hardware store, but resist! Try a few of these instead! Here are 7 beautiful knobs for your cabinets, dressers, tables, and more!

1. Glass Melon Knob

Glass Melon Knob
Price: $8.00 at anthropologie.com
These gorgeous glass knobs come in a range of eight rich colors, from bright Prussian blue to deep amber to the palest of pinks, and everything in between. They come with everything you need to mount them right away, and the long bolt is made to be trimmed to just the right size. Each melon-shaped globe is capped with a slightly different metal piece, in brass, silver, or zinc. I'd use these to finish an antique vanity or end table.

2. Alexandra Knob

Alexandra Knob
Price: $8.00 at anthropologie.com
I wonder if the name of these beautiful vintage-inspired knobs was drawn from the last Russian czarina, Alexandra? For the prints on the scallop-edged bone china do suggest it, including postmarks and the like. They're very pretty and feminine, as she was, too.

3. Glass Zinnia Knob

Glass Zinnia Knob
Price: $6.00 at anthropologie.com
The price, and style, of these small glass knobs is right, ideal for adding a touch of color to your latest vintage find on a budget. They feature swirled glass in a soft blue color, topped with an iron cap, with a bolt that can be cut to exactly the right size.

Top 7 Tips on Blind Dating …

Top 7 Tips on Blind Dating …

I've never been brave enough to go out on a blind date with someone, but if I did, I'd follow these top 7 tips on blind dating. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid about the whole ordeal. I feel like safety is the key factor in blind dating, which is most likely because I'm a woman. It seems that when blind dates go awry, it's usually the female who goes missing, is mangled, or who doesn't have a way home. I'm sure as you read the following tips you'll see the reoccurring theme of safety.

7. Don't forget to talk

Being a Chatty Cathy might not win you points, but sitting there and staring at your blind date definitely won't earn you another date in the future. Be pleasant. Conversation is going to be the only way you'll find out more about this person. Have some questions in mind before going on the date. Don't write them down, though, that will seem a bit odd. Chat about current events if you can't think of anything else. Hopefully you won't both be the quiet type.

6. Have money to pay for your share of the evening

Typically guys tend to pay for the majority of the date, at least the dinner portion. But, if you are a woman you can't always depend on this being the case. It's a good idea to take enough money to pay for your part of the night's extravagances; dinner, movie, bowling, or whatever you two are supposed to be doing that night. It's a good idea to have some extra cab fare if you decide to let your newly met date drive you to the next activity for the evening.

5. Drive your own car or take a cab

Having never met this person before, do you really want to place your life and safety in his/her hands? I wouldn't. I think it's best for each person to have personal transportation to the date sight. This will eliminate any awkwardness if you feel the date didn't go well. There's nothing stranger than riding in a car with someone whom you realize just isn't your type. It's worse when the person you are on a blind date with is mad that the date isn't going well. I don't like riding in a car with an angry driver. Talk about a frightening experience!

7 Things I Like to See in TV Dramas …

7 Things I Like to See in TV Dramas …

Television dramas comprise some of my favorite shows. House, Bones, Criminal Minds – I’m all over things like that. The thing is, I expect certain things from my television watching experiences. Certain elements need to be present for me to really enjoy myself. For instance, here are 7 things I like to see in TV dramas, or else I will promptly turn the channel forever and ever.

1. A Brilliant Character

There has to be at least one really smart character, because I think intelligence is hot. Of course, on shows like House and Bones, everyone is pretty smart – but, of course, the eponymous stars stand out with their smartness. House is the smartest man alive, as far as I’m concerned, and his cane makes me like him just a little bit better than Dr. Brennan.

2. Comic Relief

Somebody has to be funny at least part of the time. Ironically, in House, this is also Dr. House, and Wilson when he’s relating to House. In NCIS, Abby is comic relief, all the CSI shows always have someone funny. When you’re dealing with that much drama, somebody has to make you laugh.

3. Semi Believable Plot Lines

If something’s going on, it has to be at least theoretically possible. Like, Booth’s hallucination, I hated it but I bought it because he was in a coma or whatever, right? House’s hallucination, however, wherein he dreamed an assignation with Cuddy, was slightly more believable to me, because all his fantasies had the patina of withdrawal from a hardcore substance.

7 Reasons to Play Sports …

7 Reasons to Play Sports …

I played sports all through school, beginning in fourth grade. I found it to be very rewarding and I always felt better after practice or a competition. I've made a list below of 7 reasons to play sports. If you've ever been involved with sports, then you might be familiar with a few of these. Feel free to add your own reasons for playing sports, if you have any to share.

7. To have fun

I always had a blast playing ball with my friends. We would pay attention when necessary, but we always ended up laughing towards the end of practice. Even tension during game time was eased by cracking a few jokes with one another. Sports are supposed to be competitive, but they are also supposed to be enjoyable.

6. To learn how to multitask

When I played volleyball, basketball, and ran track in high school, I had to learn to juggle sports with school work and a part time job. Playing sports definitely taught me how to multi-task. I had to be able to take care of all aspects of my life and make them work together. I think this has helped me become the organized person I am today.

5. To improve coordination skills

Most sports usually involve some sort of hand-eye coordination. Basketball teaches people how to run while looking forward and dribbling a ball as well. Volleyball is often about timing the ball and hitting it with precision. These are just a couple of sports that require one to be coordinated when playing.

7 Of My Worst Fashion Don’ts …

7 Of My Worst Fashion Don’ts …

I'm not a fashion expert or the one that likes to gossip and stick her nose into everybody's business. However, leaving the house without even bothering to look at yourself in the mirror can have serious consequences, especially when your job involves working with people. Some people, however, really find juggling between their own style, fashion rules and trends, kind of difficult so the end result often puts me into a state of mind I can describe as, "If I weren't so shocked, I'd start laughing!" Here's what I consider mayor fashion sins:

1. Black lip liner

Black lip liner, eyeliner applied to the wrong place, call it whatever you want, just don't wear it. It wasn't cool in the late 80's or early 90's and it definitely isn't cool now, more than two decades later! The only thing worse than applying black lip liner is applying black lip liner without respecting the natural contours of the lips and, in case you think this pretty much sums it up, I'll just add the black lip liner + red lipstick to this bunch.

2. Helmet hair and sleeping "dents"

Human head is a 3D object which, of course, means that is has more sides than we can see when checking ourselves in the mirror. Now, isn't it funny when people forget this? Have this in mind next time you're taking a bus or metro – you'll see plenty of ladies and even gents that have taken the time to groom and polish everything except that place on the back of their heads. Yup, somebody has been sleeping on their back last night – you can tell that.

3. Synthetic dresses

Satin is nice, viscose is great too and I'd gladly accept any blend as long as it contains some percentage of cotton, silk or any of those natural materials. Dresses made from that shiny, stretchy, cheap synthetic material, in the other hand, are not worth my money. They look cheap despite the stylish cut and all those trendy details plus, there's no way you'll ever feel comfortable wearing all that plastic. You might even catch on fire! Yup, it has happened before!

7 Naughty Tricks to Try on Your Man …

First of all, I will give a little warning – if your mother lets you on here solely to get advice and she does not want you getting "sexual" advice, then don't read this. Some say you should be at least 18 years of age before you even read these tips. Winks. These are 7 naughty tricks to try on your man. These are tips that in my opinion your man is going to enjoy. If you have never released your naughty side to him, then now is the time to start doing so. Let me continue …

7. Slip a Surprise

The next time the two of you are in public, excuse yourself to go to the women's room. Take you panties off and stick them in your purse. Then, when you return, secretly slip them in his pocket and give him a wink. Guys say no-panties-in-public is a big turn on. Try this during a romantic dinner and watch his eyes pop out.

6. The View

When the two of you are staying in a hotel together, take advantage of that balcony. This one is one of my favorite naughty tricks. Sneak out on the balcony during the night, but make sure those lights are off or you may end up with an audience. This can be very calming, especially if the sound of water is around. Not to mention the fact that it can be naughty.

5. Striptease

Did someone just say "Striptease?" Yes, that guy will definitely find you naughty if you were to do a striptease right in front of him. This will leave to steamy lovemaking!

7 Fireplace Decoration Ideas …

A fireplace is much more than what it is. In any room, it easily becomes the focal point of attention. Most visitors who enter the room will find their eyes drawn to the fireplace immediately. It is important to decorate a fireplace tastefully and use this place to establish the theme of the room. Here are some great fireplace decoration ideas.

1. Seasonal decoration

Each season brings with it its own flavor and you can decorate your fireplace with the flavor of the season. In summer and spring, you can display the flowers of the season in bright, beautiful vases. In fall, pumpkins and gourds can adorn your fireplace. And, in winter, you can combine winter greens with silver painted pine cones.

2. Dried flowers

For those who like flowers and would like to have them around throughout the year, this is one of the best fireplace decoration ideas. Keep dried flowers in attractive vases so that their presence can gladden your heart and cheer you up every time you see them.

3. Mirror over the fireplace

A mirror over the fireplace mantle is a classic idea. If you are going for a traditional look, a large ornate mirror over the fireplace will look fantastic. However, if you have a modern-themed room, choosing the right kind of design and pattern of the mirror can give this idea a very trendy and contemporary look and feel.

8 Fun Things to Do with Chocolate …

In this age of carrot sticks and lettuce, chocolate has gotten something of a bad rep. Ladies, while it's so important to eat right a little indulgence every now and then makes all that salad bearable. Chocolate, I believe, can fix almost any problem, and guess what girls? It's not only terrific in tasty snacks! Here's a list of creative ways to treat yourself …

1. Get a Massage

Chocolate massage is the ultimate in luxury body beauty treatments and apparently it promotes a whole host of health-giving processes. In fact, experts suggest that chocolate therapies actively participate both in weight-loss and anti-aging programmes! Ladies, who knew?

2. Make a Martini

Girls, this is literally the most indulgent cocktail ever. Made from a combination of condensed milk, vodka and chocolatey goodness this wicked little bevvy is not for the faint hearted. Drink slowly (if you can) to avoid getting though too many – trust me ladies, drink indiscriminately and you will have a hangover!

3. Have a Facial

This decadent skin treatment is becoming increasingly popular and with good reason. Beauty experts tell us that cocoa facials leave skin moisturised and smooth, and exfoliate into the bargain. Dark chocolate works best, I'm told, as it's a fantastic source of antioxidants and packed with natural cocoa oils to reverse dryness and inflammation. Also, Philosophy carries a line of chocolate-inspired body care products that smell divine… try those, too, after you facial for an all-over chocolate experience!

9 Ways to Get the Promotion You Want …

9 Ways to Get the Promotion You Want …

We all know what it’s like. You’re ready to move up from your current position. Either another, higher position opens up or you’re simply ready to ask for a promotion. This is a scary predicament, because what if you don’t get it? That’s not the question to ask yourself, though. You’re better off asking yourself what you can do to make sure you get it. You can start with these 9 ways to get the promotion you want.

1. Find a Mentor

It’s a proven fact that employees who have a mentor in a higher position than theirs are far more likely to be promoted. Plus, it really helps you to put things in perspective. Your mentor can go over interview questions with you, let you know what you can do to make yourself look good, and tell you how to boost your performance, among many other things.

2. Make Yourself Indispensable

If your company knows you do great work, they’re going to want to reward you with it. Even more, they’re going to want to do whatever they can to make sure you stay with them. Make sure that you are necessary, that they can’t live without you, that no one else can do your job the way you can. They’ll be eager to see how your talents translate elsewhere as well.

3. Promote Yourself

Sometimes, you have to promote yourself to get a promotion. What I mean is, you have to let people know that you’re interested in moving up. Talk about your long term career plans. Discuss what you want to do for the company. If no one knows you want a promotion, how are you ever going to get one?

7 Fun Facts on Summer …

Summer is almost here and I know that many of you cannot wait for it. Oh yes, the swimming weather is right around the corner. In a way, I will be happy to say goodbye to the cold AND the cold I have now! Let me give you 7 fun facts on summer …

7. Mosquitoes

As annoying as they may be, these are insects that have been around for thirty million years. They have chemical sensors on them that are able to tell when a mammal is one hundred feet away from them. They also have heat sensors, which allow them to detect when the warm-blooded ones are around. Along with this, they have sensors that allow them to detect movement. The first activity of an adult would be to mate. The females lay their eggs and live anywhere from days to months afterward. As for the male mosquito, he dies days after mating.

6. Bathing Suits

The first bathing suits for women came out during the 1800's. During this time, it was improper if your skin was anything but creamy white. These suits were long sleeved bathing dresses with bloomers under them. The only swimming a woman did was wade in the water and jump waves. Wow, the world sure has changed.

5. Midsummer

When it was Midsummer, the Ancient Pagans would celebrate it with bonfires. By doing this, they believed their crops would grow just as high as they were able to jump.

8 Ways to Deal with a Lack of Space …

8 Ways to Deal with a Lack of Space …

Probably everyone has had to deal with a lack of space, whether it’s in a particular room, like the bathroom or kitchen, or throughout the entire house or apartment. It can be seriously frustrating, not in the least because there’s nowhere to put all of your stuff. An easy fix would be to get rid of some of that stuff, of course, but sometimes that’s not possible. Instead, here are 8 ways to deal with a lack of space that might give you some ideas!

1. Look Up

Although you might not have a lot of square footage, you can easily take advantage of the space on your walls. Naturally, you can put up shelves literally anywhere, at varying heights, for lots of extra space. However, you can also store things in interesting places – like on top of your refrigerator or, if you have cabinets that don’t go all the way up to the ceiling, you can store items you don’t readily need on top of them.

2. Look Down

Of course, there’s lots of room for storage on the floor as well. You can save ample space by storing items under beds, couches, chairs, et cetera. The bottoms of closets work well in this case too. You can buy shallow storage bins at Walmart, Target, or even at the dollar stores, and they don’t cost a lot at all.

3. Decorate with Storage

Not every storage container needs to be hidden, though. There are plenty of ways to decorate while still creating storage space. Again, wall shelves work well here, but so do bookshelves and things like that. If you don’t have enough closet space, you can instead use bureaus, nightstands, and so on, or you can go bargain shopping for a lovely chifferobe.

7 Celebs to Watch for in 2011 …

Admit it, sometimes you enjoy watching what celebrities are up to. There are some celebrities that seem to be bent on self-destruction and like moths drawn to a flame, we like to watch their progress. Other celebrities are simply people whose lives we like to follow. In 2011 there will be much to watch; here are 7 celebs to watch out for in 2011.

1. William and Kate

Prince William has won his beautiful lady and will make her his bride this spring. Like his mother's wedding to Prince Charles, William's wedding will be a spectacular event watched by royal watchers around the globe. No doubt this will be THE EVENT of the year and the newlyweds will continue in the media spotlight.

2. LiLo

Lindsey Lohan has been on a revolving door track in rehab and 2011 may determine her fate once and for all. Can she stay clean and sober? Does she have a career left? Will she manage to stay out of jail? Has she learned anything from the past couple of years? Only 2011 can tell.

3. Brangelina

Rumors pop up on a regular basis about this pair; Brad and Angelina are splitting up, no they are not splitting up, they’re pregnant again, they’re adopting again. This is a couple that is on the right track; at least they seem to be. They are humanitarians on a global level and they live what they preach. Kudos to Brangelina and keep your eyes on them in 2011.

7 Apps You Must Download to Your iPhone …

My iPhone is most certainly an extension of me – and my life. I need regular access to my emails, bank accounts, organizer, calendar and multiple means of staying in contact through every social media platform that exists. But I have some favorite applications that I use on a regular basis, which follow:

1. LoseIt

LoseIt
With LoseIt, you can track your exercise and keep a daily journal of the food you eat. Also, set realistic goals for weight loss. When I first started tracking my meals, I was shocked by the amount of calories that I was NOT properly consuming as an active adult – as well as how much skating burns PER HOUR of activity (practically a whole days worth of food). No wonder I'm always so hungry…

2. Beerby

Beerby
If you are a craft beer drinker like me, you will enjoy tracking and rating your favorite beers with Beerby. Using location-based platform, you can check in with what and where you're drinking, see what your friends are having and obtain characterized, themed badgers (instead of badges) for completing certain drinking tasks. Beer me!

3. Hipstamatic

Hipstamatic
Sure, iPhone comes with a perfectly good camera for taking photos, but with Hipstamatic (a $1.99 app), you have an upgradeable catalog of lenses, film, flash and filter options (some are included with the app) to create gorgeously haunting vintage-style pictures (they call that analog). It's almost as though you've been a professional for years.

The 7 Most Amazing Cars Ever Made …

All cars are not created equal, just ask the Dodge Neon. So, if I had a seven-car garage to fill it up with unparalleled automobile awesomeness, here's what you would find inside.

7. The Mach Five

Speed Racer's racecar. It sports buttons marked A through H allowing it to do everything from break the sound barrier to go underwater to firing homing robots. Did I mention that it's also a convertible?

6. The Black Beauty

The Green Hornet's car is a nearly indestructible custom set of wheels made special by his sidekick Kato. It sports multiple gun mounts, Stinger missiles, wheel spikes, ejector seats, and even a record player, just to name a few of the amenities.

5. Bumblebee

An alien entity from the planet Cybertron, who, when on earth, manifests into the form of a Volkswagon Beetle or a Chevy Camaro, depending, of course, on which version of Transformers you're watching. How can you wrong with a car that can turn into a giant robot and double as your best friend all at the same time? Besides, Bumblebee helped Shia Labeouf bag Megan Fox. Maybe this should be #1 after all…

7 Ways to Incorporate 1960′s Fashion into Your Look …

Every Halloween, someone else attending at least one of the parties I go to dresses like a 1960s hippie. It's usually a pretty good costume, but I always want to pull that poor soul aside and show them the other aspects of the fashion from that era, the gorgeous colors, the beautiful details… because once I do, I know they'll want to wear the look themselves! If you agree that there's more to 60s fashion than fringed hippie stuff, then keep reading! Here are 7 ways to incorporate 1960s fashion into your look.

1. Just Pollen' Around Top

8 Responses to “I Love You” When You Don’t Feel the Same Way …

If your love life is as much of a disaster as mine, you're more likely to be the one who is met with silence when you tell someone you love them. But what if it's the other way round, and you know that you don't feel the same way, or you're not sure? Is honesty always the best policy, or can you let someone down gently? Here are some suggestions as to what you should say.

1. I Wish I Could Say The Same

This might seem a little brutal, and has to be said with care. Providing you explain that you just don't feel the same way, the other party will then know where they stand. Said with the right tone this might work, but if you say it too bluntly, it might be hurtful.

2. I Can't See Myself Feeling That Way

If you really are sure that you won't ever be in love with someone, then it's best to be honest about it. Knowing this means that they have the choice to move on, rather than live in hope. Again, be nice the way you say this!

3. I Don't Think I Can Give You What You Want

Again, if you are certain that you won't share their feelings, be honest about it. A dead silence or a lie just won't do. How would you feel if someone told you they loved you but didn't mean it?
