| Posted: 09 Mar 2011 11:36 AM PST The top 10 pet names for cats that I have listed below are the most common ones I found listed on a variety of websites. Surprisingly, these popular cat names have never made their way into my household and we've had a lot of cats over the years. Growing up on a farm allowed me the opportunity to have 26 at one time. They were all spayed or neutered by a retired veterinarian who lived down the road. Among them were names like; George, Amadeus, Spit Spat, Bermuda, Austiano, Nubuk, Cameron, Tyketto, Cha Cha, Ashton, Jaspina, and Gulliver. If you have the desire to name your feline one of the more popular names for cats today or are simply curious what these names are, then take a look at the list below. 10. Max – number 1 on top 10 male cat names on petplace and petbabynames.comI've known quite a few dogs names Max, but have yet to meet a cat with this name. It sounds like a good strong name though. I do know a little kid who is called Max, which is short for Maximillian and he's a tough little guy! 9. Bandit – number 1 on top 10 for male cats pm catnamesmeow.comAgain, I've known a couple of dogs who actually earned this name, due to their bandit-like nature. I can see how it would be a great name for a cat who likes to take things that aren't his. I have a cat now that would make a great 'Bandit'. He goes by the name 'Jack' and he is an ornery one. He is pure black and likes to hide in the shadows with whatever item he's stolen. 8. Goldie – number 1 on top 10 female cat names on catnamesmeow.comMy son once had a goldfish named 'Goldie'. I know, pretty original, hey? He was only 6 though, so it's understandable. This would be a great name for a cat that was golden or yellowish in color. I could see how it would be a perfect one for a female cat that also has golden fur that is long and luxurious as well. |
| 7 Tips For Improving Your Twitter Account … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 10:47 AM PST Social networking is big business these days. If you don't have a Facebook page or a Twitter account, it's as if you don't exist (on the internet at least). Starting a twitter account is simple, but how do you make the most of your experience? Whether you want to attract lots of followers, or simply engage in the world around you, the following few tips will hopefully help you get the most out of twitter. 1. Make Your Account Easy To FindThe simplest way to make your account easy to find is to use your real name. This is helpful if your twitter account is for social networking and business purposes. If you don't feel comfortable using your real name, think about choosing a nickname or alias that others can easily identify you by. If you are using twitter in conjunction with a blog, you can always make your blog the account name. 2. Promote your Twitter AccountIf you want lots of people visiting your account, then it's important to promote it. Give your twitter account high visibility. Mention it on your blog, put it on your Facebook, include it in your email signature, print it on your business card… the possibilities are endless! 3. Choose a Suitable Icon/AvatarYour avatar will say a lot about your twitter account. It has the potential to set the tone of your account. If it's a personal account, using a photo of yourself is a good idea. If your account is associated with a brand or business, then a logo or similar icon would be better suited. |
| 8 Ways to Be Careful with a New Relationship … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 10:35 AM PST A new relationship is like a tender young flower. I know that sounds cheesy, but just think about it for a minute. The rules of dating are ever more complicated, and you have to go easy if you want things to last. There are definite dos and don’ts when you’re involved in a budding relationship, and you have to tread carefully so you don’t move too fast – or make a wrong move altogether. There are a number of ways to be careful with a new relationship; here are 8 of them that might make things easier for you. 1. Don’t Rush the LabelsSometimes, labels ruin everything. I myself hate labels, for relationships, statuses, sexuality, and all kinds of other things. Who cares? If you’re happy with him – or her – and he’s happy with you, it doesn’t really matter what you call each other. Just worry about getting to know each other first, about what you have in common and what you like about each other. Rather than introducing him as your anything, just use his name – after all, that’s who he is. 2. Don’t Go too FastSometimes moving fast can be tempting, especially if you’re really into the person you’ve just started seeing. You’re happy together, you feel giddy, you want to spend every spare second with your new catch. That can get tricky, though, because you not only start to lack proper perspective, but you also soon wind up without any mystery left. You know everything there is to know about each other and it’s only been a few weeks. You need time apart; it will increase your excitement in the long run. 3. The Rules of DivisionTo that end, it’s also incredibly important to make sure your time is properly and adequately divided between other things. Relationship gurus maintain that it’s vital to maintain what is known as the 50/30/20 rule, i.e., half of your time can be spent with the person you’re seeing, while 30 percent should be spent hanging out with your friends, and you need to have at least 20 percent of your time devoted solely to yourself. That way, you and your new partner don’t smother each other, you won’t be completely dissing your friends, and you won’t lose yourself, either. |

| 7 Reasons I Can Enjoy Life In The 30′s … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 10:16 AM PST Turning 30 is no longer this mortifying experience for most people. It has become one of the more liberating ones. While the 20's was a time to experiment with new things and rough it out, the 30's are a great time to come into your own and just enjoy life. Here are 8 reasons why you can enjoy life in the 30's. 1. More moneyFirst of all, when you're in your 30's, you have been working for at least 10 years and you've made some money, grown in your job and perhaps invested some funds. In a nutshell you have more money. You can eat at fancy restaurants, buy fancy clothes and carry fancy handbags, something you could never do back in your 20's. 2. Better living conditionsMost of us spent our 20's living in closet sized apartments sharing with one or two roommates. Thankfully our 30's are going to be much better. Since we have more money, we are going to live better. Goodbye to tiny holes for apartments and hello to comfortably sized homes. 3. Long term partnersAnother wonderful part about the 30's is that most of us, men and women alike, are done playing the field and are ready to settle down. It is a time for us to find and be happy with long-term partners. It's quite literally the beginning of the rest of our life. |
| Posted: 09 Mar 2011 10:12 AM PST For those of you that are in debt, you need to learn how to turn your life back on the right track and get out of debt. Right now, I am going to give you 9 tips to get out of debt … 9. Cut Those Credit CardsThat's right, take that credit card out of your wallet right now, grab the scissors and cut that thing! I don't care. You do not need it and really, you do not want it, unless, of course, you want a high interest rate and get even further into debt. Credit cards are no good and those companies try whatever they can to suck people in – don't fall for it. 8. Don't Overpay Your DebtSure, I do believe in paying off your debt, but there is a such thing as overpaying it. You should make sure you leave enough money for other expenses as well or you could end up sinking further in the hole. 7. Avoid Eating OutIf possible, avoid eating out. By cooking your own meals, you will be saving money. You should only go to those fancy restaurants for special occasions. |
| 8 Reasons I Dislike My Home Town … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 10:09 AM PST I meet people from all over the world, and they all seem to come from interesting, historic, cultural cities. However, it's often said that the only good thing about my home town is the road out of it! Now, I'm not going to identify it (as I'm so embarrassed to come from there), but there are lots of reasons why I never, ever, ever want to live there again … 1. CultureOr rather, the almost total lack of culture! There are a couple of good theatres, but that is about it. Most people seem more interested in patronising the many bars than in exercising their minds. The only cinema offers the usual multiplex fare, and isn't even near the centre of town. 2. AccentIt's no exaggeration to say that on the rare occasions I go back 'home', I think my ears are going to bleed. The accent really is that bad. Musical it is not. Fortunately I've had to alter the way I speak, as I've lived in other places, so I hope I sound a little better! 3. ExpensiveHouse prices are utterly ridiculous in my home town. Once, not that long ago, they were within the reach of the average person, but now I wonder how anyone can afford to rent or buy. There isn't even anything to compensate for the high prices. In my opinion, housing is at least 50% overpriced (although that's true of most places these days). |
| 9 Things It’s Okay to Do After a Breakup … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:53 AM PST It's okay to do certain things when you are going through a breakup. Personally, if you feel comfortable doing things and it's not against the law or hurting you, then you should be able to do it. Since I am a girl, I am going to come from a female perspective on this one and give you girls some points. 9. CryI always say that it is okay to cry. If you feel that you have to cry, then go ahead and do it. 8. Talk to Your Girlfriend a LotIt is okay to talk to your girlfriend a lot. Perhaps you have some things you have to get off of your chest. 7. Beat the PillowTo the point where you actually have to go out and purchase a new pillow. Yes, I fully understand this one and in my own opinion, I think it is a great way to get the anger out. It makes it even better when you know it is his pillow that he always slept on when the two of you were together. |
| 7 Weird Things I Notice On Guys … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:17 AM PST Some guys fascinate you with their physique, some have a certain aura of attraction floating around them and some rely on their bubbling personality. Similar to this, some girls notice looks first and ask questions later, while others tune their radars to scan for those little signs that label him either dateable or un-dateable. I, for example, notice some pretty weird things. How weird? Well, I can't say for sure so do check out my list and you tell me… 1. LegsI like that Vin Diesel, I-can-bench-press-my own-weight kind of guys but a strong, muscular torso just has to be in balance with his lower body. It's kind of a Libra thing, I guess – balance, perfection and all. Unfortunately, a lot of guys just forget to pay attention to this type of exercises too, so we get a very weird looking combination of Vin Diesel and Woody Allen. So not attractive! I also hate the so-called chicken legs as well as short, stubby ones. That's what's so great about summer – you can always check out the whole package before making any decisions you'll regret later on. 2. NailsLong pinky finger nail is a definite turn off, at least for me! I know guitar players usually have long nails on some fingers but still, I don't see this as attractive. Come on guys, you have those plastic thingies for that! But, okay, let's skip the musicians for now and say they do have a certain excuse to grow their nails. What about guys who don't even play any instruments? Why do they grow their pinky nail? Well, let me tell you although I bet you already know – so they could pick their nose and ears easily. Gross! |
| 7 Issues Couples Fight About … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:01 AM PST Couples argue: it’s pretty much a fact of life. No matter how much you love each other, no matter how well you get along otherwise, every couple has issues. It’s not the end of the world by any means, unless you find yourselves arguing more than you do anything else. No one wants a relationship based on fighting. The good thing is that you can familiarize yourself with the most common issues that cause couples to fight, and then you can figure out how to make them non-issues. 1. MoneyMoney can be an enormous issue, for a variety of reasons. You might not have enough; when finances get tight, it’s easy – and understandable – to get frustrated. There might be issues involving joint or separate accounts, whose money is being used, and so on. There are ways to keep money from being such a hot button issue – and most of them involve talking to each other. 2. SexSex is a huge issue and it can prompt a lot of tension, which can naturally lead to a lot of fights and arguments. The sex issue has different sides, primarily depending on the perspectives of either partner. Rather than arguing about sex, though, it’s better to talk about it. However, the best option is to simply have it, and to make it as amazing as possible. Intimacy is a vital part of any relationship and having sex with the person you love can be highly intimate, not just passionate. 3. The PastIt happens at one time or another, at least, that the past makes an appearance in every relationship. You might be dwelling on something your partner did once, or vice versa. While past occurrences can have important bearing on the present, you should never live in the past. If you have to discuss it, then by all means do – but don’t throw past issues up in each other’s faces. |
| Top 8 Celebrity Breakdowns Of All Time … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 08:59 AM PST Sometimes we all go a little crazy. The bad thing about being a celebrity is that when that happens, there is almost always a camera trained on your every movement. Who knows if these rants are really indicative of who each of these people really are, but they sure are fun to gossip about! 6. Christian Bale
Photo Credit: tinker.com We all the heard the on set rant by Christian Bale spewed while he was filming the latest installment in the Terminator franchise where he screamed at a lighting tech for moving a light during a particularly emotional scene. Honestly, this rant was so amazingly funny that I liked him more after hearing it. YouTube this one as it's full of classic one liners. Career Killer Factor: 2 out of 10. 7. Christian Slater
Photo Credit: wallpaperpimper.com During a drunken tirade, Slater punch a female partygoer in the face, bit the man who came to her aid in the face, kicked a janitor, tried to steal a cop's gun, and then denied remembering any of the debacle upon awakening in jail. Career Killer Factor: 6 of 10 6. John Rocker
Photo Credit: sportsnet.ca During a radio interview in 2000 John Rocker gave his thoughts about playing baseball in New York with the following quote. I’d retire first. "It’s the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark looking like you’re riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids. It’s depressing… The biggest thing I don’t like about New York are the foreigners. You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anybody speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish people and everything up there. How the hell did they get in this country?" No wonder his carrer ended shortly after… Career Killer Factor: 8 out of 10 |
| 7 Top British Fashion Designers … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 08:39 AM PST It's nice to know that our little country still turns out some of the most recognisable creations in the world of fashion. The only problem is the chance of ever owning an original is probably a dream for most of us. Luckily most of them now have ready to wear collections. Here's some top British designers some of whom will be familiar to you, others not. 1. Alexander McQueen
Photo Credit: nitrolicious.com Undoubtedly the King of British fashion until his untimely death in Feb 2010, he's the man who introduced skull printed silk scarves into Harrods. If you've got a couple of thousand bucks handy why not buy one of his gem encrusted purses. 2. Vivienne Westwood
Photo Credit: sewmanstore.com If McQueen is King, Viv is Queen. She'll always hold a place in my heart because she's partly to blame for me dying my hair bright blue and wearing plastic bin liners and safety pins in 1977. Always up for something avant-garde I'll never forget her ad campaign for Axminster Carpets. She made a wedding dress/ball gown complete with long train and hat, all out of living room carpet. 3. Phillip Treacey
Photo Credit: sanfranciscosentinel.com A hat isn't just for a wedding. Well it certainly isn't if you own one of Phillip Treacey's magnificent creations. They are more a sculpture than a hat and definitely the crowning glory for when you want to feel like a princess. |
| 7 Ways to Gracefully End a Friendship … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 08:38 AM PST Ending a friendship is not to be taken lightly girls, but sometimes there's someone in our lives that just causes us pain. To begin with, it's important that when you take the step to terminate a relationship, you're absolutely certain that it's what you want: you've identified the 'friend' as the cause of profound problems and you're sure these are more damaging to you that the continued friendship is beneficial. If this is the case, ladies, I've put together a list of 7 steps to help you say good-bye to a toxic relationship without loosing your cool and behaving badly. 1. Identify Your ReasonsIt sounds odd girls, but ending a friendship should not be an emotional undertaking. You need to be collected, reasonable and, most important of all, prepared. Make sure you've identified exactly what the problem is, and that you can explain it in words the other person will understand. Remember, it's possible your would-be 'friend' has no idea there's even a problem so you may really have to break things down. 2. Be CertainYou should never end a friendship over a petty fight or a simple misunderstanding. Give yourself some time to mull matters over: your 'friend' might have done something that seems unforgivable now, but in a week or so, you will have gained a little perspective and realised the situation is actually reconcilable. 3. The Right SettingThis one's actually pretty important, girls. You need to find a setting that's neutral with no charged associations that might make you emotional – don't pick the park you and your friend use to play in as kids, for example – and the place needs to be relatively private as well. In all likelihood, ladies, there's going to be a scene, and when it arrives, you don't want a whole bunch of spectators. |
| 7 Things to Consider While Buying a Laptop … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 08:00 AM PST Laptops are becoming more and more common. However, most people who go out to buy laptops do not know enough about them to be able to buy the one that would be most useful to them. Also, often they get cheated by savvy salesmen who can easily identify customers who are not technically savvy. Here are things to consider while buying a laptop. 1. Size of the laptopThe most common screen sizes available today range between 12.1 inches and 14.4 inches. However sizes both bigger and smaller than these are available. If you are likely to travel a lot, a smaller screen may be more useful to you as they take less space, especially convenient if you are a frequent air traveler. But, if you are likely to be in one place more often, you would probably prefer a larger screen. 2. Weight of the laptopThe weight of the laptop is definitely one of the things to consider while buying a laptop. A heavy and bulky laptop can result in constant back and neck pain if you are traveling a lot with it. If you are likely to be in one place, you will probably appreciate the many additional features that come with a bulkier laptop. 3. Input devices of the laptopWhile it is possible to use a mouse with a laptop, it may turn out to be cumbersome in many situations, like in an airplane for instance. You will need to decide which input device you are more comfortable with- the touchpad or the pointing stick and then buy a laptop that has the input device of your choice. |

| 7 Steps for Making Your Will … Posted: 09 Mar 2011 06:32 AM PST It's not something we like to think about, but we all need a will to make sure our loved ones know what our legacy will be. I know it doesn't sound like a fun activity, but making a will is important, and no matter how young you are, it ought to be done now. Here are the 7 steps for making your will. 1. Think it throughBefore you commit to paper, think about what you have and who you want to enjoy it later. Think about who you want to execute your will, and why. Consider all of your assets, too, not just the obvious cash and investments. Feel free to take notes, and think about this for a long time, like a few weeks. 2. Make a listOnce you've had a few weeks to think about everything, make lists, and edit them. Revise them for the next couple of weeks, and then start committing to a serious list more like a will. 3. Choose an executorNow you need to consider who you trust enough to execute your will. This person needs to be mature, and ready to spend some time on the project. This is the person who will make sure the wishes you've willed will be carried out. |
| Posted: 09 Mar 2011 05:47 AM PST Today Buckingham Palace announced a second royal wedding set to take place this year… in a brief statement, the engagement of Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grand-daughter would wed just three months after her cousin, Prince William, marries his sweetheart, Kate Middleton.
Zara Phillips, a champion show-jumper, will wed Mike Tindall, her rugby captain, in a ceremony on July 30th, at the Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh. A reception will follow at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Though I can’t imagine why anyone would want to plan any wedding so soon after what is probably going to be the wedding of the decade, I’m excited we onlookers will have the chance to see two royal weddings in just one year! They seem very down-to-earth and very much in love, and I can’t wait to see them exchange their vows… how do you feel about another royal wedding this year? |
