| Posted: 11 Mar 2011 11:41 AM PST There's always one in the crowd, isn't there. You know the ones I'm talking about. The gal at work who insists on wearing an outfit that causes the guys to turn their heads towards her and the women to roll their eyes as she walks by. I think there's a time and a place for everything; clothing styles included. Here are 7 office wear no-nos that you might want to avoid. It might be a good idea to steer your friend clear from making any of these mistakes too! 7. Sheer dresses while wearing a thongNice. Right? I just don't see how women can think this looks good. I'm sure a few are completely oblivious to the fact that the skimpy black thong is nicely outlined right through the dress. I also know that a few enjoy the commotion this type of outfit stirs up in the office. This is fine for the beach, but respectable clothing should be worn in the workplace. 6. Cut-off shortsDaisy Duke can wear these anytime she wants, but you might want to leave yours at home. No matter how comfy they might be and whether you are male or female, leave them in the dresser drawer for wearing on the weekend. Jorts (jean shorts) aren't work attire, unless you're self-employed and at home. 5. Shirts that gape in the button areaI have a phobia of gaping button-up shirts. Thankfully I always check to see what I look like before heading out in anything. I noticed one day that the shirt I had on severely gaped where it was buttoned over my bra. How embarrassing would that be to have someone point that out! If I have even a faint fear of my shirt deciding to do a gaping trick, I wear a camisole under it to avoid a peepshow. |
| 7 Things You Could Regret Saying in an Argument … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:39 AM PST At a point in life, we get mad. Many times, we get so upset that we spew out words that we regret saying. I am the type that likes to think before I talk. Let me give you 7 things you could regret saying in an argument … 7. "You Don't Even Make Enough Money"Wow, I'm not sure why you would be judging someone on the amount of money they are making, but this is one of those things that you could end up regretting in an argument. Even after the argument is over with, the individual you told this to could go on living life with the thought that they are not good enough for you because they do not make enough money in the back of their head. 6. "I Should of Married Someone Else"Eeek – I could never see myself telling my husband this one, no matter how mad I was at him. Of which, I barely even get mad at him, because he doesn't do anything to make me mad. However, if your husband or wife makes you mad, you shouldn't say this. You could go your entire marriage (if you have one left after this) regretting the fact that you said this. 5. "You're a Loser"Even if they really are a loser, you may regret it. If this individual looks up to you and you go and call them a loser, you could push them to suicidal thoughts. |
| 7 Great Skinny Jeans by Cheap Monday … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:27 AM PST By now you would think that most denim designers would have gotten their skinny jeans down to a science, but sadly that's not the case. Some wear too low, others are too tight in some places and downright baggy in others… what's a girl in need of skinnies to do? Don't fret, sweetie, for I can recommend a designer who has nailed skinny jeans, and makes them in varying lengths (since we girls also come in varying lengths). Who is this wonderful designer? They're called Cheap Monday, and here, my dear, are 7 of their great skinny jeans. 1. Lean on Me Jeans
 2. Urban Explorer Jeans
 3. Show Promoter Jeans

| 7 Things Never To Say To Your Boss … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:18 AM PST Whether you have a reasonable or absolutely idiotic boss, there are certain things you can never say to him. Even if you need to communicate these ideas to the big man, it is best you cushion it with some serious sugar talk as saying it as it is could cause major problems for you in your work. Here are 7 things you should never say to your boss. 1. That's not my jobWhen your boss tells you to do something, shooting back an immature 'that's not my job' is not a good idea. Bosses just want the problem solved, issue fixed and job done. They don't really care who does it. Even if it is not your job, answer in the positive with 'I'll get that done for you' and perhaps rope in the relevant staff. You may also want to drop a mail copying your boss instructing the relevant person to complete the task. 2. It can't be doneHearing negative and stubborn comments like these can really put your boss off. So despite all your misgivings about the task he is asking you to do, hold back on the irresistible – 'it can't be done'. Rather than that, say something like, 'Ok there are a number of factors that will make it difficult but I will try my best'. 3. I told you soNo matter how much you expressed your concerns and misgivings about a project, when it turns out you were right take that as vindication enough. There is no need to go to your boss and rub it in with an 'I told you so'. He probably already hates you for being right and this will just make it worse. |
| 8 Reasons Why Celebrity Fitness DVDs Are Annoying … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 10:12 AM PST If there's one thing that you can guarantee will be in the shops in time for Christmas, it's fitness DVDs promoted by celebrities. Not the real stars of course, as they're too busy earning millions doing the day job. Instead, the DVDs carry the names of minor celebrities – here are eight reasons why I find them annoying … 1. Front(wo)manNobody needs to be a genius to work out that putting a celebrity's name on the box is a marketing exercise. Naturally, they're not fitness experts, and the real work on devising the routines has been done by a professional. So it seems rather false for the DVD to be promoted as if the 'star' is responsible for it. 2. Her Again!Presumably, these DVDs must make money, as many stars do more than one. This begs the question, though – why do they need to do that, if the first one was any good? It rather implies that it was somehow inadequate – or would do if we didn't know that they're just trying to squeeze as much money out of their fading career as they can. 3. Same PicturesAnother thing I really find annoying is that they all carry the same kind of pictures on the cover. Granted, you wouldn't expect a fitness DVD to be promoted by pictures of someone fully dressed, but they always show a) a badly lit, unflattering 'before' photo and b) a smiling, trim 'after' photo (doubtless airbrushed). |
| Posted: 11 Mar 2011 09:56 AM PST Microsoft has been around long enough that this giant corporation is able to offer quite the selection of products and services. I've done a bit of reading up on Microsoft and found out some interesting facts. Even if you aren't a fan of this company and consider yourself to be more of a Mac or Linux person, you still might find these tidbits to be a good read. Here's my list of 8 facts on Microsoft. 8. It's almost as old as I amI had no idea that Microsoft was founded in 1975. It was started in Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to a couple of different cities in Washington. The current location of this ginormous corporation is Redmond, Washington. 7. It took 11 years for Microsoft stock to go publicI guess I'd always assumed that a company's stock was always available to the public, so I was surprised when I found out that Microsoft's stock didn't go public until 1986. I found out that owners can offer private stock in their businesses and they have a lot more control over how these stocks are handled. There also isn't a need for a group of board of directors with private stock holdings. Owners and investors are the ones in charge of coming up with how investments and returns will be dealt with. 6. The Xbox 360 was launched in the fall of 2005Where would my boys be without this magnificent machine? Lost. That's where. They can communicate with their friends, it's a superb form on entertainment, and it increases hand-eye coordination. Granted most of the communication is in the form of grunts and shouts while playing endless rounds of Halo. |
| Posted: 11 Mar 2011 09:56 AM PST 7. Bullying in SchoolI tell you, there is a lot of bullying going on in school today amongst our children. I hear about it a lot from my little girl – she tells me the things that go on around here. It is said that seventy one percent of students report bullying as a problem in their school. 6. GunsI know this fact might not have much to do with bullying in your point of view, but I believe it does, because bullies, sometimes end up bringing guns to school. Then again, I also believe that the result of bullies cause people to bring guns to school. Either way, it is said that one out of every twenty kids has seen a student with a gun in school. Do you think these facts are true? 5. School Shootings87 % of students have said that shootings are a desire to get back at those who have bullied them. See, I told you that sometimes, bullying will result in the kid bringing a gun to school – perhaps bullies need to realize this one. |
| 10 Most Important Celebrity Scandals in 2010 … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 09:44 AM PST For some celebs, making scandals is the only way to stay relevant while others have their reckless, cheating spouses to thank for this type of negative publicity. Some of those things make us go LOL while others leave us feeling kind of sad, wondering how that person must be feeling right now. Moreover, when I look back at this past year, I can definitely say reading gossip magazines was everything but boring. So, here's the list of some very scandalous events that have certainly made 2010 a very profitable one for tabloids: 1. Sandra Bullock and Jesse JamesAny man would be lucky to have Sandra as his wife but Jesse apparently isn't just any man or isn't a man at all. I will never understand why people cheat and, if they really must do so, why don't they at least find somebody better? Jesse has ruined the best thing that has ever happened to him and for what? Affairs with trashy webcam models! LOL! Talking about a fair trade… 2. Eva Longoria and Tony ParkerUnlike Sandra and Jesse, Eva and Tony really did seem like the match made in heaven. Unfortunately, being married to this gorgeous Desperate Housewife didn't seem like much for Tony so he felt the need to spice things up by hooking up with their mutual friend Erin Barry. Eva filed for divorce and I'm really glad she did so. I mean, a drunken night out is one thing but discovering hundreds and hundreds of text messages your husband used to send to the other woman is just unforgivable! 3. Liz Hurley playin' it safeMen are not the only one prone to scandals and dishonest behaviors, of course, and I'm going to go one step further and backup my claims by mentioning Liz Hurley. This girl was like, "Okay, my marriage is not working well and I'm going to get a divorce" and, don't get me wrong, that's fine with me. The only problem is that she kind of forgot to inform her husband about it. She did tell him afterwards but not before she has managed to find a replacement first! |
| 7 Gadgets for a Healthy Kitchen … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 09:41 AM PST If you are anything like me, you have kitchen cupboards and drawers full of gadgets and whatnots, every sort of grater and knife and measuring device imaginable. Just how many of them do you use? I have a couple of favourite knives, always use the same set of measuring spoons and cups and the processor used to come out of hibernation a couple of times a year. I have however, found that since I now take more care about what I eat there are a few items that I use all the time and they are what I would call essentials for any healthy kitchen. 1. JuicerI don't mean one of those funny pimply squeezy things or the wooden bulbous thing that I can't remember the name of for lemons (reamer?) but the full blown electrical all-dancing juicer. If you like smoothies and juice blends, a juicer is an absolute must-have. 2. SteamerIf you don't eat steamed vegetables, try some. The difference in some items really is quite significant. It's also great for fish. There's no need to have an electrical steamer, a Chinese bamboo basket does the job. You might even find you prefer a microwave steamer. 3. Non-stick skilletEvery kitchen needs at least one excellent non stick pan for oil free frying. Invest in one really good pan, look after it by never using metal utensils and scourers and it will last for years and years. |
| 8 Great Spring Break Activities … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 09:04 AM PST Spring break is quite close to descending, and many people – adults and kids alike – have no idea what they’re going to do yet. Some people may have to eschew an actual vacation, while some will be taking off for places unknown for their breaks. Either way, there are tons of things you can do to celebrate your time off, starting with 8 great spring break activities sure to make it an awesome vacation. 1. Go SkiingThis has been the most awful winter in recent memory, and a surprising number of places have been affected by it – even those warm, sunny sanctuaries most people flock to during spring break. So, thumb your nose at the snow by making it work for you and head off for a week of skiing – or snowboarding, or just hanging out in front of a fireplace with lots of hot chocolate and books. 2. Go SunningIf you can, you should try to head out somewhere sunny. The South, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Riviera – take advantages of those places where spring has sprung a little early, and you can enjoy the sand and the water! It’s not just for college kids looking to party, adults can enjoy it too, even if you have little ones. 3. Hit an Amusement ParkIf possible, think about spending your time off at an amusement park. Plenty of them will be open; tons of them are open all year round. Again, if you have kids, this is an excellent choice – but anyone can enjoy it. After all, a trip on a roller coaster can make anyone feel like a kid again, and if your spring break falls on the right date, you might not have to deal with super long lines. |
| 8 Tea Infusions You Have to Try … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 08:43 AM PST Girls, I love tea. It's such a diverse and versatile hot beverage, and can be anything from soothing to refreshing, relaxing to energising –not to mention just downright tasty! It's healthier by far than coffee, with less caffeine per cup, and certain blends are packed with loads of great things to leave you feeling great. Here's alist of my 8 favourite blends, ladies; give them a try! 1. ChaiChai tea is delicious. A warm, spicy and aromatic brew, it's usually made with a blend of White Ayurvedic and Samurai Chai. What's more, ladies, it's super healthy, and chock-a-block with antioxidants to fight nasty free-radicals, and energy to keep you perky throughout the day! 2. RooibosRooibos is a fantastic caffeine-free South Africa tea blend. It's out-of-this-world refreshing, girls, and so good for you too. It aids digestion, helps to keep your skin firm and clear and it's also rich in antioxidants. Buy it blended with blueberries, or stir a teaspoon of honey for the ultimate in tea-drinking pleasure! 3. Tropical PineappleThis is delicious juicy drink, and it just tastes like a summer morning. Bright golden in colour and made with orange blossom and real chunks of candied pineapple, it's bursting with juicy flavours and a whole host of essential vitamins as well. |
| 7 Shows that Can Teach You a Lot … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 08:36 AM PST When you think about it, television has a lot to teach us, and you don’t even have to tune into your local PBS station to learn. I’ll be honest, these days I’m learning a lot from reality shows, for better or for worse. House teaches me a lot about medicine and Bones teaches me a lot about pathology, but these 7 shows that can teach you a lot have subtler lessons – and they really are quite important. 1. My Big Redneck Wedding
 2. Toddlers and Tiaras
 3. 16 and Pregnant

| 7 Must Have Apps For Your iPhone … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 08:01 AM PST There are several reasons that iPhone is one of the most popular phones in the world. One of the reasons for its popularity are the number of apps available especially for iPhones that can make your life easier, better or just merrier. Here is a list of must have apps for your iPhone. 1. SkypeOne of the biggest reasons that make Skype one of the must have apps on your iPhone is its ability to provide free video calling on 3G which works even when there is no WiFi about. You can also use Skype to call or text other Skypers for free when you are in WiFi zone. 2. NetflixFor a nominal subscription fee, Netflix allows you to stream any number of movies and TV shows a month. Now, you don't have to waste your time twiddling your thumbs while waiting for your delayed flight when you can be watching your favorite movie on your iPhone with Netfliix. 3. StanzaFor lovers of the written word, this is surely one of the must have apps for your iPhone. Stanza allows you to access any eBook that does not have DRM protection. | 10 Animals That It’d Be Fun To Be For A Day … Posted: 11 Mar 2011 04:58 AM PST We've all had the thoughts, what if? What would it be like to breath underwater? Two fly? To climb trees with the greatest of ease or walk without legs, up walls? These are all animals that exhibit some crazy everyday abilities that are basically unimaginable to all of us brainy bipeds. 10. Hummingbird
You get to not only get to be teeny tiny, but also super fast. This is basically the Flash of animals. I doubt even Cheetahs are faster than these little dive-bombers. Think about it, you get to whip around super fast all day from porch to porch and drink red Kool-Aid. I'm sold. 9. Blue Whale
This is the largest mammal on the planet, it can dive to depths we can't even imagine, and it sings like something out of some creepy Spielbergien alien movie. On top of all that awesome stuff you get to have epic sea battles with obsessed bearded sea captains and mythical beasts like the giant squid. This is the most under appreciated animal on the planet, for sure. 8. Kangaroo
You can grow up to seven feet tall, you get to hop around all the time, a backpack is built into your stomach, and you get to live in Australia. It doesn't get much sweeter than that. Plus, if you ever got bored of hopping around the outback you could always find work as a boxer. Sounds like the easy life to me. |
