| 8 Beauty Items It’s Worth Spending More On … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 11:15 AM PDT If women added up the amount they spent on beauty products every year, it would probably total enough to buy a small country. We can certainly waste quite a lot of money on products we then don't use or like, or buy overpriced creams that are no better than cheaper versions. However, there are some beauty items it's worth spending more on, even if you economise on other things – here is what I'd spend more on. 1. Tweezers
Having the kind of eyebrows that constantly need tweezing, I've been through several pairs of tweezers, and it definitely isn't worth buying cheap pairs. They aren't that good at gripping, and you end up trying and trying to grasp some hairs. A good pair, on the other hand, will pick up even tiny hairs. 2. Foundation
This is especially true as your skin matures. It's wise to invest in a good, light-reflecting foundation to give an impression of younger skin. But whatever your age, cheap foundation generally doesn't match your skin terribly well, nor does it have a good texture. 3. Primer
Primer is, if you like, the undercoat for your foundation, and just as if you were painting a wall, provides a base coat for the main layer. We all want our makeup to last, rather than have to keep touching it up, and a good primer will help to achieve a durable finish. |
| 7 Reasons I Love the P90X Workout … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 11:14 AM PDT First off, I have to tell you, P90X is the toughest workout I've ever done, so it's not for the faint of heart. It's even tougher than the workouts I did with my personal trainer, and that's saying something. But, getting beyond the physical pain and the irritation with the endlessly cheerful video host, I'm a true P90X convert. Why, you ask, do I love an exercise regimen that makes me so sore I can't sit or stand without wincing? Here are 7 reasons I love the P90X workout… 1. It's cheapWhat I mean by "cheap" is that it's not as pricey as most gym memberships, since you're just paying on flat rate for the DVD set, and that's it. You'll need to invest in a yoga mat and tension band, but that's it, really. The total cost for the P90X DVDs, mat, and tension band? Less than $200. See? Cheap! 2. You can do it at homeIf you're like me, it's hard to find the time to get to the gym, so working out at home has the advantage — you're already there! Plus you don't have to worry if your yoga pants are ratty or your hair is sticking up funny because you just rolled out of bed. Working out at home rocks, especially when you're doing P90X… no-one will have to see your weird hair or game face. 3. It's for your whole bodyMost workouts only cover one bit of your body, or they're all yoga, or they're all cardio. P90X is total body, including stretching, yoga, cardio, and all of your muscle systems. There are even different versions: the standard, the lean (for women) and the athlete (which is double the intensity of the standard). All of the workouts are all-inclusive, so you're getting everything you need for total body fitness (even a diet plan) in the P90X routine. |

I love printed curtains because they are an easy way of making a statement. Below are some of my favourites. 1. Asian Poppy Curtain
 2. Tree Garden Curtain
 3. Antoinette Damask Curtain

| Top 7 Good Careers in My Book … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 10:47 AM PDT Everyone knows that some jobs are more desired than others. I can think of at least 7 that I wouldn’t mind having, so I thought I’d list them for you. See what you think and if you have any you’d like to add, feel free to do so in the comment section. Here are the top 7 good careers in my book. 7. A fashion consultantHow fun would it be to get paid to tell other people what they should wear! I think it’d be a blast. The only downfall would be if you were a consultant for a celebrity who later gets bad comments in a fashion magazine on an outfit that you picked out. That might be rather embarrassing, but I think it would be highly unlikely to happen if you were really good at your job. 6. A food criticI always thought it would be lots of fun to go around tasting food at famous or up-and-coming restaurants so I could write a review on what I was served. It would be difficult to write an article about a place that was truly horrible, but it would still be fun to get paid to eat food and write. These are two of my favorite things to do! 5. A wedding plannerThere’s nothing more exciting to a couple than beginning their life together with an exquisite wedding. Being able to help them plan and prepare for the ultimate event would be a blast. Think of all the gorgeous decorations, dresses, flowers, cakes, and other aspects of a wedding that you would be able to experience. I think it would be a lot of hard work, but a simply amazing occupation. |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2011 10:34 AM PDT We all make mistakes and as a result, we all find it necessary from time to time to extend an apology. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the perfect words to express how truly sorry we are. There are many ways to make a heartfelt apology other than simply saying "I'm sorry.” Here are 7 ways to say “I’m sorry.” 1. Write it outCompose an “I am sorry” letter. For some of us it is easier to commit our feelings to paper rather than expressing ourselves verbally. If you are more comfortable writing the apology or if the person to whom you owe the apology is not speaking to you, writing a letter of apology is a good option. It’s also a good way to say exactly what you mean, with lots of time on your side. 2. UndoIf our actions have caused damage to another, perhaps fixing the damage is the apology you can offer. Our actions generally speak louder than our words; undoing the damage we have caused shows the other person we are genuinely remorseful for our damaging action. Did you break their favorite lamp, or ruin their shoes? Then replace them, add a heart-felt apology, and hopefully, move on. 3. DinnerTake the person you are apologizing to out to dinner at your expense. A nice dinner can be a real icebreaker and go a long ways towards soothing hurt feelings. Just make sure it’s the dinner they want, not the dinner YOU want. |
| 7 Most Talented Artists Working in Comics Today … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 10:26 AM PDT Over the ages there have been countless artists who have left indelible marks on the pages of comic books forever. Legends like Kirby, Eisner, and Finger just to name a few, but a salute needs to be made to those shaping the industry for the present and future today. Here are the top movers and shakers animating the world's funny books. 7. Frank QuitelyFrank Quitely is a great artist. He's done top shelf projects for countless heroes from every angle of the industry. His art is oriented more toward realism, and my only real problem with his art is how he draws faces. He often includes too many lines making characters look much more old and withered than I think he intends. He's otherwise stellar, though. 6. Ryan OttleyBest known for drawing Robert Kirkman's Invincible, he has been thus far sectioned away to indie books, but his art is definitely mainstream worthy. His art is a perfect mesh of realism and cartoon. His characters are well defined, but still able to retain the look of a far out super hero story. 5. John Romita JrWhen I was younger I wasn't the biggest Romita Jr. fan, but I have to say that over the years this guy ahs really grown on me. His art fairly cartoony, but still great nonetheless. He's the best when drawing heroes like Spiderman and Kick-Ass who tend to live in a more far out zany world. |
| 8 Floral and Lovely Spring Projects … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 09:30 AM PDT Hmmm do you smell that? That is the smell of spring, of life, of warm days ahead. Well, all right, it’s still freezing where you live but really, there is no stopping you from spring dreaming. One great way to do that is to tackle these floral and lovely spring projects. Who knows, these might just make the beautiful season arrive faster. 1. Floral Pillows with Ultrasuede Petals
We start with the crafting genius that is Martha Stewart. This project is great because you will need materials only for making the petals. In fact, you don’t even have to attach them to the pillows. You can use these beautiful petals to embellish curtains, table runners, place mats, etc. 2. Floral Lanterns
There are two things I love about this project. One, it was beautifully written. And two, these lanterns are so easy, you can make them with your kids! I bet these would look gorgeous once you place tea light candles inside the jars. 3. Coffee Filter Flowers
Crafting with coffee filters is oh-so-fun! Take it from me, I’ve just made coffee filter pom poms for my bedroom. But since we’re featuring here floral and lovely spring projects, these colored beauties are more appropriate than what I did. They will look gorgeous in any room of your house, for sure. 4. Rolled Flower Cuff
This appeals to the fashion-lover in me and I bet some of you will feel the same. I am in love with the color of the fabric that Mandy used here. I am also loving the clever use of toilet paper roll. It’s looking like re-using is one of the themes of these floral and lovely spring projects and I’m loving it! |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2011 09:12 AM PDT Whenever someone lies, cheats or does their partner wrong, they tend to get that huge pain of guilt that flows through their body whenever they are around this individual. Many times, signs of guilt can easily be spotted by the other individual and that can send a horrible feeling through their body as well. In the posting below, I am going to give you 8 signs of guilt that I believe you should watch for … 8. They Start to Buy You GiftsSure, they probably purchased you gifts in the past, but lately, they are starting to buy you more and more gifts. Not only are they buying you gifts a lot more often, but they tend to have a higher price on them. 7. Frequently Picks Fights with YouBy doing this, your partner will have a reason to storm out of the room. That's all I am going to say about this one. So, just watch it if your partner is picking fights a lot and storming out of the room. 6. Very MoodyLately, your partner seems to be very moody. They seem to be so depressed around you, but when it comes time to leave, they seem excited. If you have noticed your partner being very moody, then it is important that you try to talk to them. |
| 8 Things You Don’t Know About Second Life … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 08:17 AM PDT Second Life is a global gaming phenomenon that allows you have to virtual life in a virtual world along with other people. Each individual can create an account and avatar and enter the Second Life world for an alternate living experience. Here are 8 things you probably didn't know about Second Life. 1. No one can kill youIn Second Life, no one can kill you or harm you so much that that your avatar disappears. You may end up in of the 'damage enabled' zones but even here, all that can happen is that your avatar's health is reduced to zero and you are teleported back to your home location. 2. Teleport if you need to get awayWhenever you need to get away, if someone is bothering you or you don't like where you are, all you have to do is teleport away. You may find that you are constantly getting troubled by other avatars that get their kicks in this way. The best thing to do is just teleport away. 3. Female avatars will get griefYou should know that if you choose a female avatar you will find yourself the subject of attention as soon as you enter. There are characters whose sole pleasure in life is to trouble the first timers particularly if they are women. So if you choose to enter Second Life for the first time as a woman, be prepared for some grief. |
| 8 Different Teas and What They Do … Posted: 22 Mar 2011 06:12 AM PDT Tea can be extremely soothing and therapeutic. The thing is, there are so many different kinds, and each of them can do different things for you. Until researching this blog, I had no idea what most teas were meant for, and I thought y’all might be interested in it as well. So, here are 8 different teas and what they do, so you can see which will benefit you the most! 1. Green Tea
Green tea is becoming increasingly popular, especially as a means of energy and weight loss. This type of tea uses leaves that are unoxidized, which means that, after they are picked, they are heated up. That gets rid of any oxidizing enzymes. Green tea is great when you need antioxidants, and it is an extremely healthy alternative. 2. Black Tea
Black tea is maybe the most common tea, and there are several varieties of it. However, they all have a lot in common. These teas go through a natural process for oxidation, and they act as something of a pick-me-up as well. 3. Chamomile Tea
Chamomile tea is a common and popular choice as well. It is one of the more widely used herbal teas, and for good reason. It has many soothing properties, making it helpful for a number of different problems. For instance, it can help to soothe stress and anxiety when you are tense, because it actually works as a natural kind of sedative. As such, it also helps with insomnia, sleeplessness, and restlessness. |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2011 06:03 AM PDT Most women today lead a pretty crazy lifestyle. We work hard, play hard, and generally tend not to take a break. Sometimes though ladies, we really need to stop for a moment and indulge in a little R&R after all the go, go, go. I've put together a list of eight reasons to treat yourself; trust me girls, there's always something that needs rewarding! 1. You've Had a Bad DayAfter you've battled through hours of hell at work and managed to deal with idiots on the phone, broken heels, smudged eyeliner and period pain, ladies, you really deserve a break. Take a long hot aromatherapy bath when you get home and do it right. Light candles, get a glass of wine; the works! Believe me, girls, you'll feel a million miles better for it in the morning. 2. You Got a PromotionThis one's a no-brainer, girls! Obviously, if you've been promoted at work its cause for some special treatment. Before you go out on the town with friends to celebrate, indulge in a little time especially for you. Book a massage, get a manicure; indulge in a gorgeous new briefcase to match your fantastic job! 3. You Lost that Last PoundWhat a great reason to treat yourself, ladies, but with this one, it's probably best to stay away from the tasty treats. Go shopping for fab new clothes to flatter your new figure, get a great haircut – this is the time for some serious remodelling! |
| Posted: 22 Mar 2011 05:21 AM PDT Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon turns 35 today… Happy birthday, gorgeous!
While she may be best-known for her roles as Elle Woods in the “Legally Blonde” movies, she won her Oscar, and Golden Globe, for her portrayal of June Cash in “Walk the Line.” She’s lovely, graceful, elegant… and I can’t wait to see her in her new movie with Robert Pattinson, “Water for Elephants.” After reading the book, I know she’ll be perfect for the part! Happy birthday, Reese! |
| Posted: 21 Mar 2011 05:44 PM PDT Earlier this month, pop star Ke$ha one-upped the traditional autograph by tattooing her trademark dollar sign onto the ankle of a fan.
Ke$ha posted a video of the tattoo on YouTube on March 3rd. It shows her giving the fan an impromptu tattoo with an ink pen and (unsterilized) safety pin. The tattoo looks a bit… blurry… but I suppose if I gave someone a tattoo with that kind of equipment, it wouldn’t look much better… I don’t know. Would YOU let your favorite celeb give YOU a tattoo? I mean, unless it was Kat Von D… |
| 8 Times When You Should Probably Lie … Posted: 21 Mar 2011 12:15 PM PDT We are taught right from our childhoods that 'honesty is the best policy'. And, most often, it is. But, life has a way of making exceptions to the best policies. That is why there are times when you should probably lie rather than tell the truth. 1. Encouraging a patient to fightThis is perhaps one of the most obvious times when you should probably lie. If it is important that the patient should not get resigned and give up the fight for his or her life, it may become important to lie to them about their exact diagnosis. 2. Answering a child's questionsBringing up a child is not easy as children are intensely curious and have millions of questions about everything they see around them. However, there are many ugly aspects of life that there is no need for children to be exposed to when their minds are tender. It is best to lie about such ugliness when your child is young. 3. Reassurance to your parentsYour parents have done the best they could to bring you up in the best possible way. They are also aware of their shortcomings and mistakes. But, there are times that they need your reassurance. These are one of the times when you should probably lie, let bygones be bygones and let them know that you think the world of them. |
