| 8 Alarm Bells In A Relationship … Posted: 26 Mar 2011 11:18 AM PDT Isn't hindsight wonderful? I suspect that we've all been in a relationship where we ignore the warning signs that something wasn't right. It's only after it's ended that we recall what we would have noticed if we hadn't been so blinded by love. Well, however hard we fall for someone, we should still look out for ourselves. Here are some alarm bells to watch out for. 1. Mobile OnlyIt's fine for someone to only give you their mobile number to begin with, but if you've been seeing each other for a while and you still don't have their home number, then ask yourself why. Do they want to control when you can call them (mobiles can easily be switched off)? Or is there someone at home … like a wife? 2. Mi Casa No Es Su CasaNow, my home is definitely my castle, so I don't invite anyone there until I feel completely comfortable with them. Still, if I'd been seeing someone for a few months and they still hadn't invited me home, and came up with excuses not to, then I'd definitely think that there was someone else in their life. 3. Blame GameEver known someone who blamed their parents or spouse for everything that's gone wrong? We're all adults, and have to take responsibility for our own lives and our choices. There's nothing attractive about a man who spends dates moaning about his exes and how it was all their fault. If that happens, exit via the bathroom window … |
| 7 Women I’m Happy To Have in My Life … Posted: 26 Mar 2011 10:56 AM PDT Some women go through our lives leaving a huge mess that needs years to clear out. Others are there to listen, support, teach you something interesting, give our lives that happy spark and be there for us just like we're there for them. Yup, there is a list of women I'm happy to have in my life and there is a list of some I'm happy to see as far away from me as possible. Today, I'll be listing this better half that's definitely worth mentioning and loving every day. So, here are they: 1. My motherNot all girls can say their mom is their best friend, I know, so I'll completely understand if you can't quite relate to this. I can't say mom is prefect, of course, I know I wasn't always the perfect daughter myself. However, this woman was always there to listen, give me the best advice possible and try to understand me, despite the fact that "that's not how things were done back when she was a teen." She is the most important woman in my life and she definitely deserves the first place. 2. My sisterShe can be incredibly mean, ruthless and even ungrateful, but when things get ugly, I know I can count on her. She has something like a "sixth sense", an ability to smell bad people a mile away and, even though her methods of informing me that I'm about to make a mistake are utterly strange, I always appreciate her advice and feel happy because I know she cares for me. She's my little nervous wreck and my little mean witch but I guess that makes all those times when she's incredibly nice feel extra special. My sis will always be my number two, right after mom and right next to my bro. They are my life. |
| Posted: 26 Mar 2011 10:51 AM PDT The following 7 facts on felines are a combination of ones I learned over the years and some I just picked up as I searched the net for this blog piece. I love cats and find them to be not only entertaining, but extremely fascinating in so many aspects. I hope you enjoy reading this list of facts about cats. 7. Purring isn't only a sign of pleasureCats use purring to comfort themselves as well as to signify when they are happy. If a cat becomes severely injured or is very sick, he/she will most likely be purring constantly. One of my cat's was hit by a vehicle and his leg swelled up, but wasn't broken. He purred for about a week straight. That fat cat was very lucky to be alive in the first place. When I took him to the veterinarian to get checked out, it was the vet who told me about cats purring when they are in pain too. 6. A group of cats and a group of kittens are called two different thingsMany cats are called a 'clowder' and many kittens are called a 'kindle'. We'd always referred to a lot of cats as a bunch or a herd and tons of kittens were either called a batch or a litter, when they were tiny. I was glad to find out the real names for a group of cats and kittens. 5. There are 30 muscles in a cat's earThis large number of muscles enables cats to move their ears 180 degrees! Most ear movements require the use of about 12 muscles. As much twitching I've seen my cats' ears do, they must be giving those muscles a great workout. |
| Posted: 26 Mar 2011 10:36 AM PDT Who doesn't love spring time? Spring time is a time of renewal; a good time to form a new outlook on the world. Make spring time the best season with some of these helpful tips… here are 8 ways to welcome spring! 1. Clean Out the CobwebsClean out both the literal and figurative cobwebs. Literally, spring is a great time to CLEAN HOUSE! Shake off the winter blues and clean out your seasonal winter accumulation. If you haven't used an item in a year throw it out, sell, it or donate it. Dust everything and get your house smelling clean and looking bright. It’s also a good time to clean off your computer and 2. Clean Out the Cobwebs FigurativelyRenew your mind. If the first part of the year has been less than stellar, make spring a new beginning. Make your New Year's resolutions come true. Don't hold back, accomplish whatever you need to in order to feel good about yourself. There’s no time like the present! 3. WindowsAfter the cobwebs are cleaned out of your house and your mind, open up the windows and let the fresh air in. Fresh air from the outdoors is not only good for your health but it is wonderful for refreshing your thoughts. The only caveat? Make sure you have your allergy meds handy. |
| 9 Ways to be a Better Friend … Posted: 26 Mar 2011 10:33 AM PDT No one wants a one-way friendship, although it happens to all of us at one time or another. Remember how hurt and taken advantage of you may have felt when that happened to you? Certainly you always want to be a better friend than that. There are many ways to do it, but you can begin by checking out the following 9 ways to be a better friend. 1. Love Yourself FirstOften, it’s impossible to be a good friend to other people if you can’t be a good friend to yourself as well. It’s true that you have to love yourself before you can love someone else, and that goes for your friends as well. To begin being a better friend, you need to start by liking yourself too. 2. Make Smart ChoicesThere are some people out there who just can’t be good friends, no matter how hard you try. Every friendship requires energy, patience, and time. You have to choose to be friends with people who are going to put the same amount of effort into the friendship that you are. I recently broke up with my BFF because over the course of a year, it became painfully clear that he was no longer willing to do that. Everything was all about him, all the time, and the energy and resources I put into making him feel better about his life were starting to negatively affect all aspects of my life. Not cool! Sometimes you have to cut your losses. 3. Make TimeAs stated, every friendship takes time. One way to be a better friend means making sure that you’re willing to give time to your friends. That doesn’t mean just showing up and being there when they are in crisis. You have to be a friend through the good times, the bad times, and the neutral times. |

| 7 Bedtime Rituals to Help you Sleep Better … Posted: 26 Mar 2011 09:45 AM PDT Do you find yourself tossing and turning at night, stirring up a mini-storm on the bed, much to your partner's annoyance? Here are a few tips you can try to relax yourself before bedtime so that your body is prepped to fall asleep quickly. Sweet zzzzzzzs…! 1. Hot bath for Sound SleepAt night, your body temperature starts dipping naturally. Associate Professor at New York University School of Medicine Joyce Walsleben recommends a long soak in a hot tub for about 20-30 minutes. This helps your body temperature rise and the subsequent drop at bedtime relaxes and lulls you into deep sleep. 2. Dimmer is BetterStarting late in the evening the body releases a chemical known as melatonin, which can be best explained as the 'hormone for darkness'. This chemical makes you sleepy but only if it receives the right sort of impetus from the environment. For this reason, you may want to consider installing a dimmer in your bedroom. It will allow you to turn down the lighting of your room as the evening progresses, thereby putting you in the right frame of mind for sleep. 3. Say no to StimulantsThose who find it hard to sleep are often advised not to drink coffee after noon. This is because caffeine sticks around in your system for a long time and disrupts your sleep cycle. Same goes for nicotine. You may think smoking before bedtime will help you relax. Quite the opposite, in fact. It will alert the brain and speed up your heart rate. Good luck sleeping with a supercharged heart and brain! |
| Posted: 26 Mar 2011 09:33 AM PDT I recently upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate as did my husband and I must say that we both really enjoy Windows 7. I was using Windows Vista and he was using Windows Xp. We like it even more than Windows vista. For those of you that have not updated to Windows 7 yet, I think you would like it. Below, I am going to give you 7 reasons to use Windows 7 … 7. SimpleWindows 7 is simple, attractive and fast! It has a better way to find and manage those files. It has Jump Lists and enhanced views of the taskbar, which helps to perform those everyday tasks with ease. It is designed for more reliable performance. It has cool features such as Windows Media Center, Windows Touch and HomeGroup. I like how everything on it seems to be easy to use. I mean, I haven’t came across anything that is complicated yet, but of course, that does not mean that it doesn’t exist. 6. The Booth PerformanceI must say that I have noticed the boot performance is better. The boot performance was a big complaint about Windows Vista. Microsoft has the goal to make Windows 7 take only 15 minutes to boot up. As for Windows Vista, it takes 30 seconds to booth up. 5. The DesktopI really like the desktop features of windows 7. Not to mention the fact that the taskbar has larger buttons. Right now, I have my desktop set on switching pictures ever so often – that’s a pretty cool feature for people like me who cannot decide which picture they want on their desktop. I can now have them all! |

He drives for McLaren, a team he hopes to drive with for the rest of his career. He debuted in 2007 and missed the championship by a single point. The next year he claimed his revenge beating the runner up again by a single point. 3. Fernando Alonzo

He has won the World Championship twice in his career, the first time being at the age of 24 which was then the record for youngest ever world champion. | 8 Things that Could be Holding You Back … Posted: 26 Mar 2011 06:07 AM PDT Do you ever get that feeling you're just not reaching your full potential? You could be achieving so much but something keeps getting in the way? Throughout our lives we pick up habits – some good, some bad – and the worst of these can interfere with whether or not we attain our goals. I've done a little research and put together a list of 8 common reasons we're just not getting where we want to go; have a look, ladies, perhaps one of these issues will look familiar to you … 1. Bad Time ManagementDividing your time up equally and intelligently between your commitments is real skill, ladies, and one that not all of us have learned to a sufficient extent. If you often find yourself trying to do two things at once or rushing through a tricky job, chances are, you need a lesson in how to plan your day. Get a book, search the net; success could be a few organisational techniques away. 2. Poor Body ImageSo many of us allow our warped perceptions and inflated anxieties surround our bodies and their size prevent us from trying the things we really want to do. A lot of women refuse to go to the gym, for example, because they feel too fat when they get there. It's time to grow up, suck it up and get that butt into gear. If you're overly conscious of your body, to the extent that it inhibits what you will and won't do in a day, you should definitely talk to a professional – be it a therapist or a fitness pro. If you don't, opportunities in life will continue to pass you by, and, girls, that's no way to live. 3. ProcrastinationDo you often find yourself putting off the things you need to do until literally the last five minutes? Does that term paper remain unwritten until right before the hour that it's due? Procrastination is a dangerous habit ladies, and one which will cripple the quality of your work. It's not possible, for example, to write a great essay in half an hour. Don't put off the things you're don't really want to do; make a cup of coffee, sit down and get to on with it. Ignoring your responsibilities won't make them go away. |
| Posted: 26 Mar 2011 05:35 AM PDT Actress Lindsay Lohan will take a cue from Madonna, Beyonce, and Prince and will drop her last name. In the future, she just wants to be known as Lindsay.
Lohan’s mother, Dina, in an interview with PopEater.com, stated that Lindsay will shorten her name. Dina and her other daughter, Ali, will change their last names to Dina’s maiden name, Sullivan. The name changes stem from Lindsay’s parents’ bitter divorce. Dina says that neither she nor her girls want anything to do with Michael Lohan, including the use of his last name. Michael Lohan denies this, and there’s no record of Dina, Ali or Lindsay filing paperwork to legally change their names. It sounds like an ugly situation all around… especially given Lindsay’s legal woes… stay tuned! We’ll keep you updated on the name change, if it does really happen. |
| Posted: 26 Mar 2011 03:07 AM PDT One of m favorite actresses, Keira Knightley, turns 26 today… happy birthday to you, Keira!
The willowy actress is best known for her roles in period films, like Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, and — of course! — the Pirates of the Caribbean series. I love her for her unique style and her positive self-image, because, by Hollywood standards, she’s less curvy than most. Like me! Plus she’s wildly talented with a vast range, from action/adventure to romance. Happy birthday, Keira! |

| 7 Ways To Be Nice To Your Maid … Posted: 25 Mar 2011 12:24 PM PDT If you have a maid, it is important to look at her as someone who supports you in your daily chores that you don't want to or are unable to do. Just because you consider the job she does to be menial does not mean that she does not deserve your respect and consideration. Here are some ways to be nice to your maid. 1. Treat her with respectThis is the most important of all ways to be nice to your maid. Your maid is also a human being and deserves all the respect, civility and consideration that you have for others of your own standard. Just because she is poorer than you does not mean that she can be disrespected. 2. Trust your maid's abilityIt is important that you are willing to trust your maid to do her job well. First display your trust and then bring up issues if you have any. Do not start by showing distrust for your maid's ability. 3. Trust your maid's honorJust because someone is poor does not mean that they will cheat or steal. While it is important to be on your guard, it is also important to display trust. If you have reasons to distrust your new maid, do not keep her. But, if you have no reasons to believe that she is dishonest, be willing to trust her. |

Here are several for which you should make space in your closet. Dibs on the ballet flats! 5. The Mythical KindNow these may not fall under the traditional definition of fun but you have to admit that Greek gods have plenty of it (in that meddle with mortals kind of way). | 10 Things to Do When You are Bored … Posted: 25 Mar 2011 12:08 PM PDT Maybe it is a rainy day and you are stuck inside for hours. Maybe your car broke down and you have no way to escape the house. No matter why you find yourself stuck at home, boredom can drive a woman crazy! Here are 10 things to do when you are bored to keep yourself amused. 1. Start a BlogYou can start blogging. Blogging is a fun way to be creative and it also allows you to interact with other people. You can blog about anything you like. If you do not think that you are up to writing a long blog, you can always become involved with Twitter where you can post short status updates of your day. 2. Plan a Girls NightStart planning your next adventure with the girls. Don't limit yourself to the typical night of clubbing or going to the movies. There is nothing wrong with grabbing some coffee, your favorite pajamas, and having all your friends gather around the television for a movie night that is filled with laughter and pizza. 3. Find a New HobbyIf you are someone who finds that they are chronically bored, you should think about getting involved in a hobby. The odds are pretty good that you did something in high school that you have since let slide. This would be a good time to start back up again. |
