7 Benefits Of Going Back To Education …

7 Benefits Of Going Back To Education …

I often think that in a way, the teenage years is the wrong time to be studying, as it seems boring and something that is forced on us. On the other hand, when you are older and need to work, is the time when you wish that you could return to studying! Still, with home study, grants and flexible courses, there are many opportunities to return to education. It's never too late! Plus there are many benefits …

1. Career Choice

In the past, most people stayed in the same job for life, but those days are gone. Owing to factors such as job insecurity and dissatisfaction, it is not uncommon for someone to change jobs several times, or even change career totally. For a career change, you are likely to need appropriate qualifications, so going back to college can bring you the career you always wanted, or one that you've now developed an interest in.

2. Sense Of Achievement

Obviously this depends on having the finances to fund it – not everyone can afford to study for enjoyment alone – but being a mature student can bring a great sense of satisfaction. Just ask the people in their seventies, eighties or even nineties who gain degrees! It can also boost your self-esteem if you never thought you were capable of study.

3. Second Chance

University is seen as a time in your life when you are free of responsibilities and can live it up. The truth is that many students feel socially awkward and may find it difficult to cope with the course and financial pressures. If you dropped out, or couldn't afford to study, there is always another opportunity if you want it enough. It's never too late to study.

7 Signs that You Grew Up in the 80′s …

The 1980's was a classic decade of big hair, blue eye shadow, and heavy metal rock bands. Growing up in the 80's meant knowing the latest music and learning how to tease your hair to unbelievable new heights. It was all about wearing slap bracelets and sneaking around to watch MTV with your friends. If you are smiling fondly at these memories, there is a good chance that you are an 80's baby too! Here are 7 signs that you grew up in the 80's.

1. You Rocked Big Bangs

Hair was big in the 80's, but it all culminated with the highly teased bangs. Using a can of hairspray and a fine tooth comb, you would curl your bangs tightly and then tease them to the sky. You got extra points if you rocked the big bangs and a side ponytail at the same time. You were top of the list if your boyfriend had a mullet.

2. You Loved Alf and Screech

Do you remember Alf? He was the furry brown alien that wisecracked his way to stardom and made America laugh. "Saved by the Bell" was another huge television hit during the 80's. Every girl carried a crush on Zack Morris or his sidekick Slater. Most of us had a soft spot for nerdy Screech too. If you were an 80's kid, you probably watched the Smurfs religiously on Saturday mornings and laughed along with PeeWee Herman several times each week.

3. You Know Every Bon Jovi Lyric

In the 80's the band Bon Jovi released the song "Shot through the Heart" and we have all been humming along since. All of the top 80's music artists collaborated in the unforgettable song "We are the World".

7 Reasons I Couldn’t Live without the Net …

If someone had asked me 10 years ago about my dependence on the Internet, I would have ranked it as being very low on my list of needs. However, times have changed and I've come to the conclusion that I would be utterly lost without Internet access. Here are 7 reasons I couldn't live without the Net. Feel free to let me know what some of your reasons might be for not being able to live without Internet service.

7. I'd miss out on all the celebrity gossip

As much as I despise the damage that gossip tends to do to people, a lot of it is very entertaining. I don't care about the stuff that belittles others, but juicy tidbits on who is dating who or who wore the best outfit to a recent celebrity gala is always interesting. I also tend to hear about celebrity deaths and famous births through the use of the Internet.

6. I'd have to depend on a repair man to fix my washing machine

I've fixed my washing machine three different times, thanks to the Internet, thus saving myself hundreds of dollars in fees to hire a washing machine repair man to do the same exact thing. I was able to research the problem I was experiencing with my machine, locate the correct part to order, and print off instructions on how to replace the malfunctioning part.

5. I wouldn't have access to news and weather whenever I want

I like being able to bring up a 10 day weather forecast when I'm getting ready to start an outdoor project. I also enjoy receiving an important news flash the moment something happens somewhere in the world. I think being able to keep track of weather and prominent happenings in the news helps me not to feel like I'm sitting here in the woods in the dark. I like to know what's going on around me, especially since I don't have access to any television stations.

7 Reasons Why You Should Pray …

7 Reasons Why You Should Pray …

In today's fast paced and hectic world, I find that more and more people are disconnected with God. Belief in god and the power of prayer can do a world of good to every one of us. You don't have to believe in the rituals set up by your religion to believe in God and to pray to Him. Here are 7 reasons why you should pray.

1. Sense of peace

Praying to God brings an immense sense of peace and well being to those who truly believe in the power of prayer. It is a great sense of relief to place yourself in the hands of a higher power instead of attempting to battle all the problems of life on your own.

2. Relief from stress

There is no denying that life has got more and more stressful in the last few decades. It is a well documented fact that those who don't believe in God and do not pray tend to suffer from more stress than those who do. Problems in life seem insurmountable when there is no hope of help.

3. Restoration of hope

When everything you do seems hopeless, the power of prayer can help in bringing hope back into your life. Praying helps us to hope for a better tomorrow and hoping helps us move forward and leave our problems behind. Praying also help fill you up with optimism for a brighter future. That's another reason why you should pray.

10 Most Popular Grave Sites in the World …

I've never been one to haunt the graves of the famous. I've visited Highgate Cemetery because I used to live close by and when I had a major obsession about the Russian Revolution it was interesting to see where Karl Marx is buried but other than that I can think of better ways to remember famous people I admire etc. Not so for others though. Visiting dead famous people is quite a pastime and here are 10 of the most popular grave sites in the world in no specific order.

1. Mark Twain

Last year it was the 125th anniversary of the publication of one of America's most iconic books, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira NY and 176 years after his birth, over 3,000 people visit his grave annually.

2. Bob Marley

The grave of Jamaica's most famous son has been the site of a birthday celebration organised by the government every year since his death in 1981. Bob Marley is buried in an expensive mausoleum that is also the place where pilgrims attend an annual reggae music festival.

3. William Shakespeare

Stratford-upon-Avon, a small town in Warwickshire, middle England prospers thanks not only to The Bard's grave but his house, his wife's cottage, the theatre that stages his plays, heaven knows how many claims of places he's visited or things he touched and it's made even better because the town and surrounding countryside is beautiful.

7 Ways to Eat More Fruits & Veggies …

We all know we need to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to get all of the vitamins and other nutrients our bodies crave — but aside from carrying a fruit cart around with us everywhere we go, how can we get all of the fruits and veggies we need? After a lengthy conversation with my marvelously fit personal trainer, I can help! Here are 7 ways to eat more fruits and veggies.

1. Swap the sides

Rather than making (or ordering) French fries as a side with a meal, try a small salad or a cup of fresh fruit. Even most fast food restaurants offer fresh fruit options instead of French fries, so take advantage of the apple fries — minus the caramel dipping sauce — as a simple way to eat more fruits and veggies.

2. Use them to top pizza

I am a great fan of the pizza — in my opinion, there's nothing tastier! I'm pretty open-minded about what I'll top one with, too… as long as there's cheese and tomato sauce, I'm happy! So I sneak in a serving of veggies by using them as a pizza topping. I love using green bell peppers, tomatoes, and even broccoli… yum!

3. Eat them raw

For some reason, fresh fruits and vegetable, uncooked, have the most health benefits, and they tend to be the most delicious, too. They're also really easy to eat, since all you have to do is wash or peel and enjoy!

8 Tips to Looking Wealthy …

Do you want to look chic on a limited budget, ladies? Giving the impression of wealth doesn't need to break the bank. I've put together a list of 8 tips to looking wealthy that are manageable even if your wallet's feeling a little on the light side.

1. Class is Key

The key to looking genuinely wealthy lies in avoiding all things trashy, bling and tasteless. In order to do Paris Hilton and Britney Spears-style trailer-chic, it's actually necessary to spend quite a lot of money. Avoid jerseylicious-inspired tight-and-bright combinations and opt instead for quality fabrics and classic cuts.

2. Natural Fibres

Ladies, avoid nylon and all its various offspring like the plague. Dressing like a wealthy person is all about the natural fibres. Linen, wool, pure cotton and cashmere: these are your friends. To find quality fabrics at low prices, shop off season and keep your eyes open for sales.

3. Don't Fake It

People are often tempted to buy counterfeit designer handbags, accessories and clothes, and to buy plastic pleather products instead of ones made of real leather. Girls, no matter how convincing you think your fake purchase is, trust me, it's obviously not. You don't need to wear labels to look chic, but it is important to go for items that are well-made and authentic.

6 Tips for Breathtaking Outfit Photos…

So you have great style and you want to keep a record of your growth as a fan of fashion. One great way to do this is to start a style blog. Now I am not exactly an expert when it comes to these things but I am a huge fashion blog stalker. From the many fashionistas I stalk online, I have learned a thing or two about great outfit photos. And so we have these tips:

1. Lighting

You want your readers to admire what you’re wearing, right? The best way to do that is to have photos taken in perfect lighting conditions. As much as possible, have them taken outdoors during the day. Photos taken indoors are fine but again, make sure that there is enough light to show your outfit. Place lamps strategically around you if that will help. Make sure that you crop the lamps out before you upload the photos, though. (See tip 5).

2. No Flash, No Shake

Unless you are aiming for that raw Terry Richardson vibe, flash is simply unnecessary. This is why I recommend photos taken with all the light your camera needs. Another thing that you must avoid are blurry photos. The best remedy is a tripod of course. A photographer who doesn’t have shaky hands will also be perfect. No assistant or tripod? Make do with books stacked on a table.

3. All in the Details

Outfit photos showing the whole body are great and all but sometimes, you just simply gotta show your readers details of what you’re wearing. How about a close up of your ring or the ruffles on your top? You don’t have to wear the items when you want to show details of your outfit. Take photos of your accessories or your dress laid out on the floor or the grass. This is great macro photography practice, by the way.
