"Bad Romance," Lady Gaga & RedOne (Lady Gaga)

"Dog Days Are Over," Isabella Summers & Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine)

"The House That Built Me," Tom Douglas & Allen Shamblin (Miranda Lambert)

"Love the Way You Lie," Alexander Grant, Holly Hafermann & Marshall Mathers (Eminem & Rihanna)

"Need You Now," Dave Haywood, Josh Kear, Charles Kelley & Hillary Scott (Lady Antebellum)

When nominations for this category were announced last time around, I was a little shocked to see Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" make the cut (and even more surprised when Beyoncé's "Singles Ladies"beat safer choices like "Use Somebody" (Kings of Leon) and Maxwell's "Pretty Wings"). With that being said, I fully expect Lady Gaga and RedOne to make a second appearance here with "Bad Romance" which is just as cleverly written as its predecessor.

Along with that songwriting duo, look for previous SOTY nominees Eminem and Josh Kear to be included among this group with two of the year's most heartfelt numbers: "Love the Way You Lie" (with co-writers Alexander Grant and Holly Hafermann) and Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now"(with the three band members sharing credit).

While not a crossover hit like "NYN", I'm taking a gamble and predicting Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me, the recent recipient of the Country Music Association's Song of the Year prize.

Rounding out this list, I have "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + The Machine. In the past, this category has been home to tunes revolving around female angst such as "You Oughta Know" (Alanis Morissette) and "Before He Cheats" (Carrie Underwood) so "DDAO" should have no problem following in their footsteps.

If any of these contenders don't go the distance, it wouldn't surprise me to see the following contenders in their place: "Breakeven" (The Script), "Nothin' on You" (B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars), "The Only Exception" (Paramore), "Soldier of Love" (Sade) and "Teenage Dream" (Katy Perry).

If one thing can be said about the Best New Artist line-ups of the past, it has been very good to musical teen sensations. In the last ten years alone, we've seen the Backstreet Boys, Avril Lavigne, Joss Stone, Ciara, Chris Brown and the Jonas Brothers attest to this trend. With the support of Usher and many Twitter/YouTube users alike, there's no getting around the juggernaut that is Justin Bieber. He appears to be a shoe-in.

Two of hip-hop's freshest, most invigorating acts, B.o.B and Drake, should have spots sewn up here as well. Both of these newbies took the number one spot on Billboard's Top 200 Albums' chart with their debut efforts and dominated the radio and video airwaves.

With her triumphant appearances on this year's Video Music Awards and Saturday Night Live, Florence + the Machine has made quite a impression in the latter half of the eligibility period. Although the lone female artist in my predix, she's in good company seeing as how women have dominated this race since its inception.

To be quite honest, I'm rather new to the Mumford and Sons buzz that is currently going on (or that has been going on). Since they are expected to make a good showing in the rock categories, my instinct tells me to jump on the bandwagon and include them here as well.
