| 8 Things To Look For In A Guy … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 11:53 AM PST Ladies, I'm sure most of you have already discovered that the good men left in this world are few and far between! It sometimes seems almost silly to hold out for a true gentleman and so often we seem to settle for whatever comes our way. Well, I am a firm believer in holding out! Good things happen to those who wait. If you are still waiting for your prince charming don't despair! Here are a few key things to look for in a guy. 1. Does He Have A Job
I cannot stress the importance of this enough! I have been blessed with a wonderful fiancé who works hard everyday and I know I will never lack anything. My dad is a very hardworking man, and so was my grandfather before he retired. I don't think any women should settle for a man who is too lazy to get a job and take care of her! Of course I realize some men have health problems that prevent certain jobs, but for a young, healthy and strong man there should be no excuse! 2. Does He Have Respect
The definition of respect in the dictionary is as follows: Feelings of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements • due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others. It is necessary for a guy to not only have respect for you and your wishes and desires, but for people in general. Watch his attitude and mannerisms towards others, how he treats them and how he speaks on the phone to them. Of course respect goes both ways, don't forget if you expect someone to respect you then you should respect them! |

| 7 Tips for Doing Quests on World of Warcraft … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 11:05 AM PST We all know there is a quest helper for world of warcraft, but there are some tips to knowing about where to find your next quest and where to start at your current level. Let me give you some advice on 7 Tips for Doing Quests on World of Warcraft … 7. Pick Quick Quest
Always choose the quest that's easy and fast to turn in. Faster the quest, the more experience you get. However, fast quest can also mean less experience. 6. Grind between Quest
Quest and grinding are two different things, but can be done together. You can have quest in world of warcraft that needs you to slay certain monsters in the game. This helps you get experience for your kills and do the quest at the same time. The further the quest is the more grinding you should do. You will find its it's a bit profitable and you gain experience for your lost time. 5. Grind While You're Rested
You're probably wondering why you should grind when your rested. The blue bar means you're rested and means double the experience for the monsters you kill. You will find when you're blue and do quest; you are wasting your rested double experience. |

| 7 “Did You Know?” Things You Should Know … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 10:08 AM PST How much do you really know about life? About the world? About, well, just stuff? Here are seven things you might not know yet… 1. Did you know your heart beats 101,000 times a day?
And during your lifetime your heart will beat about 3 billion times and pump about 800 million pints (that’s 378 million liters) of blood. A normal heart will beat about 70 to 80 times per minute. Over 70 to 80 years, it gives a few billion beats. That is one powerful machine inside you! 2. Did you know that all the gold ever mined still exists today?
Gold is basically, pretty much indestructible. Almost all the gold ever mined still exists today… all 165,000 tons (182,000 tons) of it, which happens to be only enough gold to fill two Olympic-sized swimming pools. All it would neatly fit under the Eiffel Tower. Not a lot, huh? That is because you have to drill through 250 tons of rock, then beat it to a pulp, THEN chemically treat it to get enough gold for only a single wedding ring! 3. Did you know that Barbie’s measurements (if she were life size) would be: 39-23-33?
I don’t know about you, but to me, that seems a bit unproportioned and abnormal. And yet, this is the image we are allowing our daughters to think that they need to look like. What happened to realism? |
| 7 Reasons to Love Bikes and Bikers … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 09:47 AM PST Dressed like Valentino Rossi, speeding up to 300kmph, these guys disappear from our eyesight before we even get the chance to think that there might be a cute face and quite a brain there, under that top-notch nicely painted Marushin, Nolan or OGK helmet. We might get a glimpse of that Hayabusa, GSX R, Ninja but I bet that's not enough to get most women interested, right? Well, contrary to many beliefs, bikers are not danger junkies so sitting behind a good, reliable driver and gliding on the road in, what in those moments seem to be the speed of light, could be a fun, one-of-a-kind experience you'll never forget and want to re-experience. Well, since I'm about to marry a biker I can tell you one thing ladies – horses are outdated, shining armours too, so open your mind because your prince might come in a completely different outfit… the one I've described above! Here's my 7 reasons to love 'em both, the bikers and their mean machines: 1. Bikers have strong legs and arms
Operating heavy machinery has to result in some muscle gain, right? Now try imagining how much strength it takes to manage a heavy thing like a motorcycle! He will be more gentle when it comes to holding you, that's for sure. 2. Riding will help you get in shape
Yup! A fun bike ride is an exercise at the same time, even if you're the one sitting behind the driver. Now, if you've never been on a bike before, let me explain this a little bit better. You see, wrapping your arms around the driver won't do any good – all the gripping has to come from the legs. When the bike is about to speed up, slow down or stop on the traffic light, you must bring your knees closer together in order to stay on your place instead falling backwards or bumping into the driver. Now, that's one heck of an exercise, believe me! |
| 7 Activities to Do in Autumn … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 09:24 AM PST Autumn is my very favorite season, and this is the first fall I'll be spending in New England. I'm so excited! The Better Half and I have dozens of things we want to do this season, some common and some unique, so I thought I'd share some of the things on our list! Here are 7 activities to do in autumn… 1. Apple Picking
I've actually never been apple picking, but I've heard good things. You know, apples, hot cider, doughnuts — I'm happy. And I'll confess, ever since I first read The Cider House Rules, I've wanted to go to an apple farm. I know I won't run into another Tobey Maguire, which is sad, but I think the cool, crisp air and the scenery will make up for it. 2. Backyard Fires
My mother-in-law to-be introduced me to the joys of a fire pit in autumn. Actually, it's great in the summer as well, but in the fall, when you can bundle up with friends and loved ones and hang out under the harvest moon, it really doesn't get any better than that. Plus the smell of burning leaves is one of my favorite scents. 3. Craft Fairs
There are a lot of craft fairs in my area at this time of year, and I want to explore as many as possible. You can find so many great items, many of them perfect for seasonal decoration. Plus I love wandering around the booths and exploring when it's nice and cool outside. |
| Posted: 03 Dec 2010 06:46 AM PST 1. Bad Kissers: Would You Run Away?
Let’s say that the guy you are dating is a bad kisser or there is simply no chemistry when you two kiss… Would you soldier on or put an end to your no-sparks status? 2. Watches : Go for Expensive?Erika found a 30-dollar version of a Michael Kors watch. The question is whether you’d splurge on the Michael Kors timepiece or opt for a much cheaper but equally beautiful SB? 3. Gardening: How can you Make your Husband Help?Guys seem to have this power to avoid chores around the house, don’t they? If you happen to need his help in the garden, here are tips that you will find useful. 4. Relationship Status: Are you Simply a Booty Call?I agree with this post on College Candy. Ask him what your status is! There is no point guessing what’s inside his head because that can lead to headaches. And paranoia. 5. Psychic Readings: What Would you Ask?Would you go for the classic “Who will I marry?” or something like that? Psychics can possibly help you with more aspects of your life. Check out the link to know what you can ask them. Found interesting posts lately that made you think or gave you answers to some questions that have been bugging your mind? Share them with us! Also, what are your answers to the questions above? Top Photo Credit: Auzigog |
| Posted: 03 Dec 2010 05:38 AM PST Biopics are always a popular subject for movies, and there must have been thousands made over the years. Singers, actors, kings, warriors – now admittedly, some of these are definitely more fictionalised than others. Some of the 'characters' are so fascinating that you couldn't make them up. Here are some of my favourite biopics. 1. GainsbourgThis is certainly the most unusual biopic of the many that I've seen. Singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg's fascinating life and career is given a far from conventional treatment that encapsulates his nonconformist spirit. The film takes a bit of getting used to in the way that it employs the use of a giant caricature to represent Gainsbourg's alter ego, but does him full justice. 2. Chaplin'Chaplin' is my joint favourite biopic along with Gainsbourg, both being about creative people that I greatly admire. Robert Downey Jr portrays Chaplin so well that he was even able to recreate some of the comedian's most famous scenes. A simply wonderful film and performance. 3. Walk The LineIt's rather surprising that, given his long and illustrious career, that it took so long to make a film about singer Johnny Cash – unless the filmmakers preferred to wait until Cash was no longer with us. Joaquin Phoenix gave an acclaimed performance as Cash, with praise also for Reese Witherspoon (who I normally find quite irritating) as his wife June. |
| 7 Reasons I Like Being Snarky … Posted: 03 Dec 2010 04:45 AM PST I don’t know if y’all have noticed … but I can get just a little snarky. I know exactly when it happened, too. I was in sixth grade, helping to write a Christmas play with the rest of my class, and discovered a penchant for witticisms. At the time it consisted of a lot of horrible puns and "Santa’s fat" jokes, but in time, I’ve honed the craft. Sometimes it makes me come off like a huge booger, though, so I thought I would look into some of the reasons why I express my snark. 1. Love of Sarcasm
I do, I love sarcasm. I love to hear it as well as give it – and thus take it as well. If I can’t take a little snark in return, I would be the worst kind of hypocrite. The day that happens, I’m going to hang up my snark hat. Until then, however, I continue to worship at the altars of my sarcasm mentors. A lot of them are British. For instance, I just fell in love with Ricky Gervais. 2. Defense Mechanism
For me, sometimes being snarky is a means of defense if I feel threatened. For instance, the Better Half had this friend when we met. He was an admitted jerk, even his friends said so. He came with the snark, so I stepped up with it as well, and we instantly understood each other. We also instantly disliked each other, but that’s another story! 3. To be Funny
I started being snarky to make people laugh, no joke. All the way back in grade school, ripping on the teacher who was going to play Santa Claus. Mean spirited snark should not be a joke – although yes, I am guilty of it – but then, I would never walk down the street snarking about women I pass the way I do in blogs about celebrities. I’d get hit, man. |
| Posted: 03 Dec 2010 04:06 AM PST I'm always curious about what trends are going to get started each year. Some catch on quickly, while others only seem to last a very short amount of time. I like the ones that come and go every few years. It's always interesting to see just how many times a trend will be popular before it sticks. Certain hair trends, such as the mullet, don't seem to want to stay in the past. But, I guess if you can pull it off, go for it! Here are 8 trends on the rise today that I have noticed. 8. Wearing pajamas during the day
I used to see people hanging out at the grocery store in their jammies and didn't think anything of it. I myself have stopped by the store to grab some milk for my morning coffee without taking time to get dressed up. Living in a small town, it's easy to get away with not getting all fancy to go to the store. I've noticed kids heading to school in their pjs too and not only during Spirit Week. I've even seen some donning a pair of fuzzy slippers to go with their pajama bottoms. 7. Sleeping with a cell phone
I'm not sure if this is a common trend or just something my sisters, my kids, and friends of all of them do. It might be a generational thing. When I was growing up, my grandmother still had her rotary telephone and Atari games were considered to be top of the line. The youth of today don't know how to live without technology, so they have resorted to staying connected with their friends in anyway possible. It's not as if they fall asleep mid-text either. I've seen my sisters change into their pjs, brush their teeth, and curl up to go to sleep with a cell phone in their hand. |
| Posted: 03 Dec 2010 02:18 AM PST On November the 11th several countries around the world hold a Remembrance Service or Veteran's Day for those military veterans that lost their lives and those still serving today. Here are 7 facts on Veterans Day. 7. A substantial amount of veterans have a good standard of education
Ninety per cent of veterans, in 2008, hold at the very least a high school diploma which guarantees literacy and numerical skills of a basic nature. A quarter of all veterans ages twenty five years plus hold a Bachelor's degree and some hold even higher qualifications. This helps to deter the myth that the military are uneducated. 6. More veterans tend to vote in Presidential elections
A survey showed that back in 2008 over seventy per cent of veterans voted in the Presidential election, this was only sixty per cent for non-veterans. This may be partly because they fought for the country and want to see the best person win, do good things for their country. 5. Almost ten million veterans are sixty five years old or older
The statistics in two thousand and eight show that a staggering, almost, ten million military veterans were sixty five or older. This is almost half of all the veterans in the US and in my opinion shows that there is still a lot that the new generations of veterans can learn from them. |
| Posted: 03 Dec 2010 02:04 AM PST To prevent hair splitting at its end and many other problems and for keeping it healthy and beautiful some washing rules must be respected which are not hard to follow, but neglecting them could lead to nasty situations. A few tips are more than welcomed … 9. How often to wash?
Specially we need to know that there is no point in cleaning it too often because it has a natural oil that feeds the hair. To let it do its job we must not wet or shampoo the hair for two or three days. We have to wash it at least once a week because maintaining a healthy scalp involves having a clean scalp. If we have a hard working job or do workout or any regular activity that sweats the hair then it has to be washed more often because a lot of salt exists in the sweat and it dries the hair and removes the oil. In this condition we need to rinse it well. Massaging the scalp before wetting it removes dead cells and dirt. 8. The split ends
They are a result of bad shampoos or excessive use of the dryer and long sun exposure or bleaching. The end of the hair is also the one that dries more. To prevent this we must moisturize it. 7. Don't overheat the hair
Even if this means sun exposure or drier it is known this makes damage so don't heat your scalp more than once a week. |
| 8 Tips on Coping with Panic Attacks … Posted: 02 Dec 2010 11:01 PM PST Panic attacks are nothing more than misfired body signals that lead to a false fight or flight alarm. Nevertheless, panic attacks are extremely uncomfortable and upsetting. No one is exempt from experiencing them. The attacks can happen anytime and anywhere. If these attacks are not managed, they can restrict your lifestyle and even lead to agoraphobia. To prevent this problem from progressing, here are eight tips to cope with the attacks. 1. Breathe slowly
During a panic attack, you may feel like you are having difficulty breathing. However, don't be fooled. You are just hyperventilating and are taking in too much oxygen. To normalize oxygen levels, breathe slowly through cupped hands or a brown paper bag. Do this until you feel that you are breathing normally again. 2. Live healthy
To avoid having excess adrenaline, exercise regularly. Eat healthy to keep your sugar levels constant. Avoid drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol. Don't expose yourself to unnecessary stress as this can cause your body to sound off a false alarm. 3. Talk to someone
Don't keep your thoughts and feelings to yourself. Write in a journal or start a blog. Talk to people who will understand and support you. Online forums are also a great source of tips and support from other people who have panic attacks. |
| Posted: 02 Dec 2010 12:25 PM PST Playing the lottery is considered to be a game of luck for some people and a way of life for others. I know people who diligently turn in their list of numbers each week, in hopes of winning thousands and even millions of dollars. I'm more of an occasional lotto player and here are 7 tips on winning the lotto that I've come across over the years. 7. Check your numbers
It's hard to win if you don't know what the winning numbers are. You have a year to claim the winnings, so don't throw an old ticket away without checking it first. Who knows, you just might be the holder of a multi-million dollar ticket. It also never hurts to double check a ticket, just in case you missed checking it the first time. 6. Don't give up after the first try
You can't win anything if you don't play, right? Just because your first ticket isn't a winner, this doesn't mean your next one won't be. Some people consider playing the lotto to be a game of chance where the odds of winning are slim. I never found playing to do me any harm, since I don't go crazy and buy 20 tickets for every game. I think most things are harmless when done in moderation. 5. Watch out for scammers
There have been quite a few cases where convenience store owners were accused of stealing lottery tickets. The scam involved the store owner claiming a lottery ticket wasn't a winner, when it actually was. The owner would then claim the ticket and get the winnings, no matter how small they were. I always check my ticket myself, instead of relying on the store owner to tell me if it's a winner or not. |
