| 8 New Year’s Bling and Sparkles … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 11:14 AM PST Make a dazzling entrance at your New Years Party with a nice selection Bling, sparkle and razzle and dazzle. Yes, you can! First, we have fabulous tips for gorgeous hair. Next, we add a few ideas for your nails and make up. Last, we have tips for simply the best way to accessorize your outfits. Follow these terrific tips for absolutely the best shine and glitter ideas out there… 1. Add SparklesBarrettes and bobby pins with rhinestone, crystals, and other gems add the perfect touch for parties. When your hair is thin, use bobby pins. Place them at the top of your head where they will catch the most shine. If your hair is thick, you can use stone encrusted hair clips. 2. Diamond HeadbandsWell, it doesn't have to be real diamonds, thank goodness, but sparkly headbands are absolutely gorgeous! Tease the hair on top of your head and push the headband forward for added volume at the crown of your head. Frame the rest of your hair in curls. Use a curling iron. For ringlets, hold the iron vertically. For lustrous waves, hold the iron horizontally. 3. Clips and CombsIf you love wearing your hair in an up-do, emphasize the bun with rhinestone clips or pretty combs. For an ultra modern, yet feminine style, wear a low bun on the side. Clip your comb on the topside of the bun where it will sparkle and shine with every turn of your head. |
| Posted: 04 Jan 2011 11:01 AM PST Overspending is a real problem that many people go through. It may seem like a problem that only afflicts the rich. However, there are many people who spend even if they don't have the money. There are many reasons that lead to overspending. Generally, overspending results from poor financial habits and emotional or social needs. To go deeper into the root of overspending, here is a list of common reasons why people overspend. 1. Paying with plasticMany people end up overspending because they pay for purchases using credit cards. Credit is not actual money but the result of using it is the same, only without concrete limits. They spend and spend only to end up not actually being able to pay for everything. Paying with debit cards is also just as bad. They have easy access to their money and it feels like the funds are inexhaustible. But in reality, they can spend all their money without noticing that they did. 2. Not having a written budgetA written budget helps you keep track of their spending. If you can see how much money is going in, then you will know how much you can spend without going broke. Likewise, if you see how much money you are spending, you will know what to modify in your spending habits. People who don't take time to create a written budget will find it hard to keep track of their money. Before they know it, they have spent more than they should have. 3. Shopping without a listShopping without a list is like taking an exam without studying for it. People who go into a shop without a list are more prone to buy anything that catches their eye. They are more likely to end up buying things they don't actually need. They can also spend more than they originally thought they would or should have. |
| Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:53 AM PST Many of the most memorable moments in my life occurred when I was a child. There are plenty that happened in my adulthood, like getting married, having kids, etc, but the majority took place when I was a lot younger. My kids always enjoy hearing about various things I did as a kid, just like I love hearing stories from my parents' childhood as well. Here are 7 of my fondest memories from my childhood. I hope you'll feel free to share some of yours as well. 7. Finally learning how to ride my bicycleGetting a new bike for Christmas was a fantastic feeling. Learning to ride it was a bit less exciting. There were lots of scrapes, bruises, and tear drops from the ordeal. I couldn't remember how to use the brakes at first, so I would crash into the chain link fence at the bottom of the yard. I'm surprised I didn't injure myself from crashing into the fence. I don't recall the actual day that I was able to ride my new bike successfully, but I can totally remember the feeling of accomplishment that I felt. It was amazing! 6. Going to the Renaissance FestivalI think almost every kid goes through an era where knights, princesses, kings, and queens are intriguing. My mom and dad took me to the Renaissance Festival when I was around 8. I think my son was around the same age when he finally got to experience the Renaissance era for himself. My parents and I spent the entire day at the festival and I remember not wanting the day to ever end. It was such a magical place for an 8 year old! 5. Riding on my dad's shoulders at Silver Dollar CityMy family and I would go to Silver Dollar City each summer when I was a kid. Being a tiny kid, it was much safer for me to ride on my dad's shoulders than it was for me to walk around the park holding one or both of my parents' hands. My dad is a tall guy, so I could see over the top of everyone. I liked seeing where I was going, instead of looking at nothing but knees and being bopped in the head by the passing purse or gift bag. |
| 8 Ways to Customise Your Clothes … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:51 AM PST We've all got a wardrobe (or two) stuffed full with clothes that we don't wear, perhaps because we don't like them any more, or they don't fit. It's good to have a clearout every now and then – but instead of disposing of these unwanted items, why not see if you can make something new from them? There are so many ways to customise your clothes – try some of these tips … 1. Change Length
Photo Credit: lutterlagkage Have you got a skirt that's too long for you, and the style's too boring? Chop it off! Make it into a mini, above the knee or just below, and it can live again. 2. Cut & Paste
Photo Credit: janssendesigns Sewing two garments together to make a third means you get something completely different. Have you got two tops that you don't quite like? Take the sleeves off one and fit to the other. Or cut pieces from one skirt and sew panels into another. 3. Trim
Photo Credit: hickety_pickety Imagine how a crochet trim (which isn't difficult to do) would add something extra to the cuffs of a sweater or top. Match the colour for a subtle look, or try a contrast colour. You could also try feather trim, fringing or sequins – check out your local haberdashers or market stall. |
| 8 Christmas Presents Dads Are Doomed To Receive … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:46 AM PST You've got to feel sorry for dads – every year they receive the same boring range of gifts. For some reason, men are so difficult to buy for. So every Christmas, dads all over the globe are forced to pretend to be excited as they unwrap one of the following limited range of 'dad' gifts … 1. Car KitsWhy is it that dads receive car kits even if they don't have a car? Is it one of those may-come-in-useful presents? Is it an appalling lack of imagination on the part of the giver? If it's the thought that counts, buying a cheap box containing a sponge, chamois and can of polish suggests that you don't think much of them at all. 2. SocksNow, socks are definitely a useful item (unless you have no feet). But they're not really exciting to unwrap, are they? For some reason, we think it a fun idea to buy novelty socks. Hell, I bet even President Obama had to fake enthusiasm when he unwrapped a pair of Tweety Pie socks from his girls. 3. Dressing GownsThis is a slight improvement on some of the other offerings here, but it depends on the type of dressing gown. You might just get away with buying a silky spotted one that Hugh Hefner (congratulations on the engagement to a woman 60 years younger … I think) might sport, but dad won't thank you for a towelling version or one in lurid colours. At least, he'll say it but won't mean it. |
| 8 Ways to Get Someone to Forgive You … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:39 AM PST No one likes to have a friend mad about something that happened in the past. I try to make amends when I can, but have finally learned that I can't please everyone. You may not be able to get someone to forget a thing of the past, but it is possible to receive forgiveness for whatever it was. The 8 ways to get someone to forgive you that I have listed below might prove to be useful someday. Take a look and see what you think. 8. Ask with sinceritySometimes all it takes is a bit of asking. People can be funny about how they go about forgiving someone. Most will offer forgiveness on their own, but there actually are people who have to be asked to forgive a person. This could mean that the process might take a long time if the person wanting forgiveness isn't aware he/she has to ask for it. 7. Show them utter kindnessA little bit of kindness goes a long way. Being nice to someone who is mad at you will usually make them realize you are truly a nice person and they will wonder why they were mad at you in the first place. Sometimes a nice gesture will soften hearts enough to dissolve all anger and forgiveness is sort of a given. Many friendships and serious relationships are patched this way. 6. Earn their forgivenessDemanding forgiveness only drives people further away. Depending on what happened, it might take time for you to earn forgiveness. There are some things that people just aren't willing to forgive. Earning forgiveness requires a lot of hard work on your part. You basically have to prove yourself to whomever is angry with you. It will be up to you to show this person that you are worthy of being forgiven. |
| Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:16 AM PST When I was little, a belt was just something I used to hold up my pants (I was a skinny-minnie). I didn't care what they looked like (though I did want Mork from Ork rainbow suspenders at one point). Now, a belt is a bona-fide accessory, able to nip my waist or call attention to another feature of an outfit. A good belt is still hard to find, but a quick check of my favorite online shop, ModCloth, has revealed a new batch of belts that I just have to have. Here are 7 cute belts. 1. Silence is Golden Belt
 2. Isn't She Lovely Belt
 3. Super Stud Belt

| 7 Signs She’s Dating You for Your Money … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 10:16 AM PST Women suck off of men and men suck off of women. Sometimes men even suck off of men and women suck off of women. Right now, I am going to focus on a woman sucking off of a man by giving you 7 signs she's dating you for your money. If you are a guy that is reading this, then you need to pay close attention to what I am telling you right now. 7. She Has Expensive TasteEven though she does not make very much money, it seems she has a lot of expensive stuff sitting around her house. Is this signs that she has used a guy before? However you stack it, if that girl has expensive taste, then you better watch that wallet and watch for those puppy eyes! 6. She Thinks of Date Night as ShoppingWhen you ask her where she would like to go, she tells you that she wants to be shopping. Now, I am all for shopping and taking the guy around too, but if you are the one that is paying, then she is definitely using you for your money. 5. She Asks You for MoneyOkay, she just comes out and asks you for money. I think it is okay to ask for money if she is in dire need for rent or something, but if she is constantly doing it, then you need to find out how to draw the line. |
| 8 Ways To Winter-Proof Your Pout … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 09:47 AM PST We all know that chapped lips are common for this time of year. As much as we hate it, we all have to face it as soon as the cold winter wind starts blowing! So rather than toughing it up and preparing yourself for 6 months of scaly, dry, cracked lips, why not do something about it? That’s right, winter-proof your pout! You can have a smooth, sexy mouth in just 8 easy steps! Fearlessly wear that red lip-stain and see-through gloss to the New Year’s Eve party because right here is the guide to knock-out lips in the dead of winter! 1. Stop LickingDo your lips feel tight around this time of year? Many of us resort to licking our lips in this dry winter air to moisten them. That’s a big no-no! Enzymes in your saliva can irritate your lips over time and lead to cracking and flaking. Make sure that doesn’t happen to you! Don’t lick your lips! If you feel the urge coming on, apply chap-stick or do something to get your mind off of it instead. Carry a little tube of chap-stick in your coat pocket so that you will always be ready to apply! 2. Bring On The BalmOne of the top ways to keep your lips moisturized is by using a thick lip balm to moisture daily. Not a chap-stick, but a lip balm. Chap-stick is designed to prevent and treat chapped lips, while lip balm helps moisturize and soften your lips. I like to apply lip balm after I brush my teeth and throughout the day when my lips feel dry. Play around with several different ones till you find the best brand for you. I can now say I’m pretty much addicted to lip balms! 3. Avoid Citrusy/Acidy FoodsAny types of citric foods, such as oranges, lemons, limes, mandarins, etc. or any types of acidy foods like tomatoes will aggravate and sting your lips if they are already chapped. And they tend to dry out perfectly moist lips in this dry winter air. It’s best to avoid it as much as possible. If you must eat it, do so in moderation and be sure and apply lip balm directly after you finish eating so you can prevent your lips from feeling tight or dry. |
| Top 20 Complaints Women Make About Men … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 09:38 AM PST The other day, I wrote a blog on complaints men have about women and I have decided that it is time for the women to take a shot! Of course, many of these complaints on here are not from me. Actually, none of these complaints are from me. I read blogs, articles, forums and magazines a lot. I also talk to friends and my team of writers a lot and they always open up to me about their relationship. Out of all of them, I have came up with top 20 complaints women make about men. Of course, not all women will have these complaints, but sometimes, a man will give a woman the right to complain. Looking through my list, it looks like some guys get in trouble, but i'm sure there isn't a guy out there that does all 20 of these things. Right? If you do number 15, then you're probably going to do number 12 as well – while you're doing number 15. lol. If number 4 is going on with your man, then perhaps it is time to try some techniques to help with this problem. If number 3 is what is bad about your man, then you need to sit down with him and tell him how important it is to have a relationship with the children. Now, if he does not know how to dress, then you shouldn't pick on that. You should like your man for who he is, not what he wants to be and if he doesn't dress to your liking, then that's not something you should try to change. Now, for number 5, you should show him some pictures of accidents. Trust me, I have witnessed cars after they have been wrecked. I have even saw bodies laying in caskets after they have been wrecked – talk to your guy about driving safe and explain to him just how important it is. So, with this top 20 list in mind, which one of these from the list do you complain about? If you have no complaints from this list, do you have anything you would like to add to my list? | 5 Reasons why Mila Kunis Rocks .. Posted: 04 Jan 2011 09:37 AM PST I have just seen the Black Swan. While I thought Natalie was amazing on it, I just could not take my eyes off Mila Kunis. Man, that girl is gorgeous! So I did some research and found more proof that she is one rockin’ lady. I shall add her to my list of “celebrities I wish I were friends with.” 1. She is Gorgeous
Some girls do not want to be friends with other girls who are more beautiful than them but I think anyone will want to make an exception with Mila. Sure she has eyes and a teeny-tiny body that can seduce just about anyone but I don’t think there is anything malicious about her. So yes, your boyfriend will be safe. Besides, having a girlfriend as gorgeous as her probably has amazing benefits. Let’s say…free drinks, perhaps? 2. She’s a GeekShe loves World of Warcraft. How cool is that? This probably has nothing to do with her being kinda nerdy but I like that she is the voice of Meg on Family Guy. Meg is one cool character. 3. She’s a Tomboy and is FunnyOh, she has a potty mouth. If you have read some of her interviews, you would immediately think that she is one fun lady to be with. Mostly because she can be one of the boys, too. She likes d*ck jokes and fart jokes and poop jokes. On improv acting, she has this to say: I think you just zone out and have diarrhea of the mouth and hope something funny comes out. On her big eyes: Yes, I look like Japanimation. Hilarious. |
| 7 Songs to Inspire a Happy Mood … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 09:25 AM PST All right, I have to confess, not all of the following songs are cool. They are the songs that make me happy, even if they’re not the sorts of songs I usually listen to. Some of them are awesome, some of them are cheesy, but they’re all on my playlist. I hope these 7 songs to inspire a happy mood can make you happy too! 1. "Always Running Out of Time," Motion City SoundtrackThis song is from the "soundtrack" attached to Tim Burton’s awesome Alice in Wonderland. It allowed me to hear Motion City Soundtrack for the first time, and I promptly fell in love. This song is my absolute favorite. The melodies, the sing song tone, and the wonderful, poetical nonsense lyrics always lift my spirits. 2. "1234," FeistRemember when this song was everywhere because of that commercial? What was it, iPod, iTunes? iDon’tRemember, but whatever the case, I promptly got this fun, poppy song stuck inside my head. Even still, whenever I hear it, I want to sing and dance along – and I just can’t be unhappy when I’m singing and dancing! 3. "From Me to You," The BeatlesI love lots of Beatles’ songs, but this is one of my top favorites from their early days. Hearing their little Liverpool accents bleed through this upbeat ballad makes my toes tap along with the beat. It’s impossible for me to listen to this song and be in a bad mood. |
| 7 Reasons Why Tall Girls Shouldn’t Give Up Wearing Heels … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 09:06 AM PST When life throws you a lemon, order some tequila shots and you'll find out that that lemon might be the best thing that has happened to you in a long time. Now replace "lemons" with "height" and "Tequila" with "shoes" and you'll understand exactly how I feel about the combination of tall girls and high heels. Hey, I'm a tall one myself but I would never let my height interfere with my love for shoes. So, if you are a tall shoe lover too, here's some reasons to motivate you to go out and don't be afraid to stand out: 1. Because you like themIf you like high heels, don't just settle down with watching other girls wear them. Go shoe shopping and I want to see you getting out from the store carrying a pair of those killer heels you've tried on. When you dress up to go out, check yourself in the mirror and try not to think of how tall those heels make you look but how gorgeous you look as a whole. 2. Because you'll get to bend the rulesNow is there anything sexier than a pair of looooong legs? Being tall does have it's good sides, you can't argue with that one. Short girls have to be very careful when picking their shoes – too wide ankle straps, for example, can make their legs appear significantly shorter than they really are. We, the tall ones, don't have that to worry about. We can wear all kinds of strappy models because, hey, we have an extra few inches. 3. Because you'll always have a clear view of the situationNobody will have a problem spotting you and you'll be able to see everybody and everything. That's what is so great about being tall – you just can't go unnoticed. You can, of course, but you'd have to make yourself not worthy of noticing. And that, my ladies, is something neither one of us could pull off no matter how hard we try;) |
| 8 Tips for Choosing Good Wine … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 08:54 AM PST I love wine. I am also horrible at buying it. Invariably, even though I try really hard, I pick out the worst, most vile tasting wines you can even imagine. I need to take a wine class or something – and it needs to be more substantial that the little tutorial I once took in Intercourse, PA. But until I stop procrastinating and do it, I found 8 tips for choosing good wine instead! 1. Make a Plan, Man
You need to know what you want the wine for before you do anything. Is it for cooking? Are you serving it with dinner or dessert? Do you want a sipping wine? These things will help you decide what to buy, before you have to start thinking about region, vintage, and so on. 2. Familiarize Yours with Stores
Just as every wine is different, every wine merchant is different as well. They sell their wines at different prices, they have different types, and they certainly have different brands. As a novice wine drinker, you don’t want to go into a store that doesn’t have anything for less than $100. That should wait until your palate is more refined. 3. Look AroundPhoto Credit: James Rye Again, if you are new to the wine game, never limit yourself. Don’t hang around exclusively in the Merlot district; if you’re a fan of red, you might like Pinot Noir as well. As well, don’t assume that you don’t like red, white, or rose; you may just need to taste a good example. |
| 8 Places People Need More Manners … Posted: 04 Jan 2011 08:50 AM PST Is it just me, or are people becoming more and more rude? What's happened to everyone's manners? It seems to be worse in some places, and once in a while the rudeness just kills me. Here are 8 places people need more manners… 1. TrafficThis is at the very top of my list of places people desperately need manners, and I'm sure everyone agrees with me. All day long, no matter where I drive, people are cutting me off, not using their turn signals, splashing clumps of snow onto my windshield, parking at odd angles across two spaces, and refusing to let other people merge. Really, are you in that much of a hurry that you can't show your fellow driver a little courtesy? 2. In lineI don't know if it's because it's the holidays, or if I'm just noticing it more because I'm standing in line more, but when did it become okay to cut into front of someone in line? Didn't we learn this when we were, like, three? If someone's already waiting in line for something, get behind them and patiently wait your turn, like everyone else. 3. ShoppingThis one may seem a bit odd, so maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but I sure wish people would pay attention to their shopping carts, in stores and in parking lots. They run into the backs of my legs while they're blindly reaching for peanut butter, or leave their empty cart running through the parking lot, somehow magnetically attracted to my car. Pay attention to your cart while you're in the store (in other words, stop running into me with it!) and put the empty cart in the cart corral in the parking lot when you're done with it. Please. I promise to do the same. |
| Posted: 04 Jan 2011 02:02 AM PST Dogs are great. In fact, Santa just added a dog to our family. He is a cute little dachshund – a rescue. He is adorable and gets as much love as my pit bull. Right now, I am going to give you 10 facts about dogs … 10. Curling UpHave you ever noticed a dog laying down, curled up with their tail covering their nose? Do you wonder why they do this? They do it because of the cold weather. If your dog is doing this, it would not hurt if you gave them something to cover up with. 9. Sweat GlandsWhen your dog goes out for a run, do you ever wonder why they do not sweat or has the thought never occurred to you? Their sweat glands are located right between their pads on their paws. I always thought that was neat. 8. BonesYes, dogs love chewing on bones and there is no denying this one, but how many bones do they have in their body? They have a total of three hundred and twenty one bones. Wow. |
