8 Most Adorable Animal Movies …

I like movies with animals in them, whether they are animated or live action. The following movies are just some of the better ones I can recall seeing over the years. I remember thinking how cool it would be to have animals that talked to you in human-speak, but after seeing movies made with animals speaking their mind, it's probably for the best that I don't understand every word they say! Here are the 8 most adorable animal movies I can think off. Feel free to add more to the list!

8. Fly Away Home

http://st.kinopoisk.ru/im/kadr/7/8/6/kinopoisk.ru-Fly-Away-Home-7864.jpg

The 'based on a true story' animal movies are often the most touching. I remember hearing the story that this movie was based on before the movie was ever talked about. The film came out in 1996, which was around 3 years after Bill Lishman was able to get a flock of Canada geese to follow his ultralight aircraft from Ontario to northern Virginia. Of course alterations were made to the storyline to make it more entertaining, but the just of the event was right on.

7. Stuart Little

http://st.kinopoisk.ru/im/kadr/1/4/8/kinopoisk.ru-Stuart-Little-14801.jpg

I've always like Michael J. Fox, ever since I saw him on Family ties when I was a kid. He has the perfect voice for Stuart Little! I was skeptical about seeing this movie when it came to theaters. I was worried that I wouldn't like the film, since the mouse was animated and everyone else wasn't, but it turned out to be a very cute movie.

6. Snow Dogs

http://st.kinopoisk.ru/im/kadr/1/4/1/kinopoisk.ru-Snow-Dogs-14191.jpg

This was definitely one of the more comical movies revolving around dog sledding. There was still a bit of drama in it, but plenty of humor. Loosely based on a book by Gary Paulsen, Snow Dogs was a fantastic movie for the entire family. The dogs were precious and the animated expressions were a cute addition. Huskies are one of my favorite breeds of dog, so I wanted to see this movie as soon as it came out. I wasn't disappointed at all!

7 Ways to Have Fun in the Snow …

The great thing about snow is playing in it. As an adult, I miss being able to do that. And then I realized, there are no rules saying I can’t do it now. There are plenty of ways to play in the snow, after all, and they aren’t all just for kids. For instance, check out these 7 ways to have fun in the snow.

1. Building Snowmen

Ah, a classic. I haven’t built a snowman in years, and now I’m dying to. This activity is great for just about anyone. For example, it’s a wonderful family activity, of course, but friends who are looking to recapture the dewy days of their youth can do it too. Personally, I want to get out with the Better Half and build a whole snow family.

2. Snowball Wars

How is this not fun? Ambushing someone with a snowball out of nowhere, and then running for cover before they can retaliate – that really brings back memories! Have a snow fight with the people you love, plot and plan for an all out snowball war. Just remember to keep your flanks well covered and never let the enemy see you sweat!

3. Snow Forts & Igloos

In fact, before you have a war, you might want to build some protection. I have actually never built either a snow fort or an igloo. Have any of you guys? Is it difficult? Because I tell you what, I would love to try it. Given the temperatures out here right now, it might even last a while. Like until April.

8 Winter Crafts for Kids …

Winter brings with it, cold, blistery days, and we mom’s must see fit to shut the kids up inside, due to snotty noses and earaches. So, what’s a kid to do on days like this? Take a look at these ideas for inspiration!

1. Winter Snow Globe

Use recycled baby food jars to make these adorable snow globes!

You will need:
• Baby food jars (medium or large) or any other type of jar with a lid
• Florist clay (can be found at any craft supply store)
• Small figurine (see "Choosing your figurine" under "Helpful Hints")
• White and/or silver glitter or fake snow
• Hot glue gun or aquarium sealing glue (hot glue is less expensive)
• Ribbon or felt (optional)
• Garland plastic greenery (see "Getting your greenery" under "Helpful hints")

Directions:
1. Wash and dry your jar completely, including the lid.
2. Attach figurine to inside of jar lid using florist clay. If you are using a small object, it’s a good idea to build up the clay so the object will appear taller. To preview, simply place empty jar over the top of your figurine to see if you have the height where you want it. Attach any optional items with the clay (greenery, berries, etc.). Important: Use your imagination, but make sure whatever you use is waterproof and won’t dissolve.
3. Fill jar with water to within 1/2 inch (1 cm) of top. Use cold water. Warm water tends to cloud. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of glitter, or " snow" into water. This measurement is based on a medium to large baby food jar. Adjust glitter amount according to your size jar.
4. Using hot glue gun, line inside of lid with glue. Insert figurine in water and screw on lid.
5. Dab lid dry if any water dripped or spilled. Apply a layer of hot glue around the rim of the lid to seal shut.
6. Let stand and dry overnight — lid side up.
7. Decorating the lid rim is optional, and there are several ways to do it. Attach decorative ribbon with glue, use plastic holly berries for a holiday feel, or use colored felt as we have. This can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. Use white or craft glue to run a squiggly line around the felt then sprinkle with glitter and let dry. Glue on buttons, use stickers, or personalize your globe by writing your name in glue and sprinkling with glitter. You may also paint the lid rather than use ribbon or other embellishments. The possibilities are endless so have fun!

2. Jingle Bracelets

These are perfect for your little girl to make for friends and family for Christmas gifts!

All they require is pipe cleaners, small craft bells and beads.

For a simple bracelet, thread beads and bells on bracelet and twist ends together. You can get more elaborate and fancy by twisting pipe cleaners together and getting the scalloped pipe cleaners as well.

7 Interesting Things I Learned Reading Magazines …

Is it rational to buy something you'll only use once? Like a magazine, for example? Is money spent on magazine money well spent or money wasted? Psychologists say people buy magazines because they represent the perfect balance of real life and fantasy – reading about exotic destination, other people's problems and expensive clothes helps you zone out of your everyday life while reader-oriented topics, tutorials, tips and tricks are what keeps you interested. Well, I have to admit magazines are a great way to kill some time, plus, there's always the chance you'll actually read something useful. Here's a few things I've read in the magazines:

1. Aspirin can do magic

I always have a breakout in the worst possible time. You know those days when you get your period and your face starts blooming with huge, red, pulsating spots? Well, for me, period is not the only critical time. Whenever there is an important event I need to attend and look my best, I get a huge zit the very same morning. I had this bad one when my fiancé proposed, I looked like a freaking unicorn, I tell you! Now, that's where magazines come handy because, every once in a while, they suggest something you don't have to waste huge money on. Like aspirin, for example! So whenever you have a zit, just take an aspirin, power it, mix with a few drops of water to get a paste, apply the paste to the "cause of your headache" and leave it on for as long as you can. The zit will be GONE!

2. Adult toy industry is HUGE

Every once in a while, your favorite magazine will have a piece on sex toys and although some of them look cool, some will probably shock you. You'll read one, two, three of those articles and think "Oh, they certainly can't surprise me now" when you're about to read the forth. But, surprise, surprise! They will find something new! Like pearls that glow in the dark, for example. Why would I need something glowing out of my vajayjay? To be able to find it if I ever lose it in the dark room? Or, an 18-karat gold vibrator. Or, a glass dildo you can put in the freezer or dip into hot water depending on the season. LOL! Now, I can really imagine why would this be a useful piece of info, but you never know.

7 Ways to Prevent Chapped Lips …

Winter is a beautiful time of year, but in addition to being damaging to hair and skin, it can be death on your lips. Lips are sensitive, and they dry out badly during the colder months. You have to protect them all year round, but winter is the season for serious chapped lips. I don’t know about you, but I want mine to be highly kissable at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s! So, I found these 7 ways to prevent chapped lips.

1. Try Olive Oil

I swear, olive oil is like a panacea. I know it probably seems like I’m trying to find a way to work it into every post I have, but that’s not the case – it’s just so darn versatile! Although it might not be the most appetizing method, giving your lips a quick slick of olive oil – say, before you go to bed – can really soften them up and leave them supple. Just don’t lick!

2. Exfoliate

You know how important it is to exfoliate your skin, especially in winter. Well, lips are skin, right? Finding a good exfoliating product for your lips is ideal. You can use an old toothbrush – preferably with soft bristles – and your product of choice to get rid of dead skin and regenerate new skin. Just remember to be gentle and don’t ever brush too hard.

3. Moisturize

You need to keep your lips moisturized, just like you do with your skin. The easiest way to do this is with a moisturizing lip balm. The good news is that, these days, most lipsticks, glosses, and stains also come with their own built-in moisturizers. Of course, plan old Chap Stick works wonders as well. You can also use aloe vera if you have any.

8 Fun New Year’s Customs from Around the World …

I always think it is neat to learn about other countries and what they do different from me here in America. I am always interested in learning about other countries. New Year's is right around the corner and it has made me start thinking about other countries and how they celebrate New Year's. So, I have decided to write a blog on 8 fun New Year's customs from around the world …

8. Australia

New Year's is celebrated on January 1st in Australia. This is a public holiday. Many individuals use this day to camp out and have picnics on the beach. Like Americans, their parties will start on December 31st. When it comes time to ring in the New Year, they start to make noise with car horns, whistles, rattles and even church bells.

7. Belgian

In Belgian, New Year's Eve is known as Sint Sylvester Vooranvond. Individuals enjoy throwing parties. When the clock strikes midnight, they ring the New Year in by exchanging kisses and good luck greetings. New Year's Day is known as Niuwjaarrsdag. On this day, children write letters on decorated paper and give them to their god parents and parents.

6. Austria

In Austria, they call New Year's eve Sylverterabend. This is the Eve of Saint Sylvester. In honor of the saint, they make a punch that is spiced. During the celebration, you are going to find cool decorations and some champagne. By the firing of mororars, evil spirits from that year are chased off. Trumpets are blown from church towers during midnight and individuals exchange kisses.

7 Fashion Rules I Wish People Would Follow …

No matter where I go, no matter what season, I'm bound to see someone flagrantly breaking any number of fashion rules. I admit I'm not perfect, especially in the fashion department, but I do try my best… my worst offense is usually not knowing which patterned tights to wear with which tunic. I know the basics, like these, 8 fashion rules I wish people would follow.

1. Bra straps

http://s3prod.weheartit.netdna-cdn.com/images/4720788/tumblr_lb88m3Rowt1qcjuy6o1_500_large.jpg?1288650222

When did it become acceptable, not to mention fashionable, to let our bra straps show? An errant strap can completely ruin the look of an outfit, and letting them show on purpose just looks messy and more than a little trashy.

2. Muffin top

http://s3prod.weheartit.netdna-cdn.com/images/5677817/tumblr_ldq3443UbZ1qc80iuo1_500_large.jpg?1292914267

This usually comes down to wearing jeans that are the right size. When you wear jeans that are too small, you may be able to pull them on, and perhaps even zip and button them, but what happens to the extra bit of tummy luv around the middle? It gets pushed up, over the top of your jeans, giving you the look of an over-baked muffin… in other words, muffin top! I'm nowhere near fat, not even close, but even I can get an icky muffin top if I try to squeeze into a size 25 instead of 26 jeans.

3. Butt cleavage

This is another fashion no-no caused by jeans that are too small, or even just too big. When you lean forward, the world can see your underwear, or worse, your butt cleavage. One word: gross.

8 Confessions from Real Guys …

From time to time, we all have confessions, but we don't all choose to go in a confession box. Instead, we choose to post them online or send an e-mail to an open confession. Anyhow, these are 8 confessions from real guys. Yes, I have a thing going on where people can send me their confessions. However, the names that are on these confessions are not their real names and I have asked each guy if they mind me using their confession on this blog – they all agreed.

8. Sleazy Guy

When I found out that my best friend had been dating my ex girlfriend (starting as soon as we broke up), I was not happy at all. One day, when we was working out at the gym, there was this hot woman that was talking to the both of us. She seemed very interesting in him. When he went to grab a drink of water, I pulled her to the side and told him what a sleazy guy he was. After that, the girl and I hooked up. -Craig

7. Online Dating

I am a bit overweight – 5'6 and I weight 240 lbs. I was talking to a woman online. She sent a picture that showed me she was way out of my league. Instead of sending her a picture of me, I sent one of my brother. After that, we hit it off. Boy, was I nervous when we met! I had it in my head that I was going to claim I gained weight. Anyhow, I was shocked when I found that she had given a picture of her sister! She was about the same weight as me and had been lying all along. We are now married and have been married for 3 years. -Bill

6. Porn

As I surf the Internet, I come across some pictures of girls I like. I save them in a special folder. Around 2am, after looking through my folder, I headed straight to bed. The next morning, around 7am, my girlfriend knocked on the door. She wanted to use my computer and I wasn't dressed. So, while I was in the shower, she was on my computer. When I stepped out, I saw her looking through the folder, which I had left open the night before. Oops. -Harold

10 Beauty Hints For Looking Slim …

Did you know: All it takes is a few simple hair, skin and makeup tricks and you can look as if you dropped 10 pounds overnight! When it comes to losing weight, we all know the true secret is by eating right and exercising often. But there are a few ways to use beauty products to make yourself appear toned and trim! The secret all lies in this one little hint: It’s all about playing up your assets and tricking other’s eyes into seeing more definition and contouring where YOU want them to see it! So here’s the skinny on how to look thin and sexy without eating a singe carrot or taking 5 laps around your house!

1. Glow For It

Adding a little color can slim you down instantly! It’s how most celebrities fake a toned body. For streak-free bronzing, it’s best to start in the shower and exfoliate rough or dry patches of skin. Next, apply self tanner over your whole body in slow, circular motions making sure you don’t miss a spot. Keep your fingers pressed closely together because the spaces between them can cause blotches. Experiment with many different types of tanning lotions and potions to find the one that works perfectly for you. If you have dry skin, check out moisturizing self tanners, which won’t strip your skin of it’s natural oils.

2. Hair Help

The next time you find yourself seated in the chair at the salon, ask your stylist for face-framing lowlights. Darker hues make your face appear more narrow. And if you don’t have the extra money to spend on salon services, you can do it yourself with an at-home kit, available at drugstores. Read the instructions to find out how to do it, but keep in mind that lowlights can turn an unflattering shade of orange after sun exposure. Use a sun protective hair product or wear a hat before heading out if you want to look your prettiest!

7 Tips on Handling School Day Mornings …

School days always seem to be dreaded by kids, but they shouldn't become a nightmare for parents as well. Getting kids ready for school, as well as your self, can be accomplished with little difficulty. The 7 tips on handling school day mornings can be used for a wide range of ages. Some of these tips involve cooperation between child and adult. I hope some of these are useful for you and they make your mornings go a bit smoother.

7. Have a set routine

I know this is much easier said than done. I don't know how many times we've tried to come up with a routine that we are all happy with. For the most part, there is a basic routine and some parts are very flexible. I get up, turn on the coffee pot, feed the animals, wake the kids, get dressed, wake the kids again, let the dog back in, and then I stand in the doorway and talk to the kids until I'm positive they are awake. Some mornings I luck out and they get up on the first wake-up call!

6. Set clothes out the night before

This is extremely helpful if you have to get both yourself and a small child dressed in the morning. It saves a lot of time from rummaging through the closet and dresser drawers to try and find a complete outfit. I usually have an easy time picking out clothes in the evening. For some reason I can't seem to pull off picking out a good outfit in the morning. My boys are both teenagers, so all they have to do is choose between which pair of pants to put on and what t-shirt to pull out of the drawer.

8 Books I Can’t Wait to Read …

I’m really behind on buying books. There are a ton of 2010 novels, and even some from 2009, that I am working toward getting. I have to go down the list though, you know – and since I need to do that, I thought I would share my list of 8 books I can’t wait to read.

1. Mary Anne in Autumn by Armistead Maupin

Mary Anne in Autumn by Armistead Maupin
Price: $15.59 at amazon.com
This is the long awaited addition to the Tales of the City series, and since I’m totally Armistead Maupin’s friend on Facebook, I have been hearing so many awesome things about this book! It only came out in November so I haven’t even gotten my hands on a copy yet – but soon, y’all, soon.

2. Post Mortuary by Patricia Cornwell

Post Mortuary by Patricia Cornwell
Price: $15.09 at amazon.com
I am so excited about this book. I have a few other Scarpetta tales to catch up on before I can get to it, though. And okay, I’ll be honest with you – I’m kind of also waiting for it to come out in paperback. Except that if I get ready to read it before then, I know I’m totally going to go ahead and cop to the hardcover, I am totally cool with that.

3. Kings of the Earth by Jon Clinch

Kings of the Earth by Jon Clinch
Price: $17.16 at amazon.com
I have been mad for Jon Clinch since Finn, which came out two years ago and takes up where Mark Twain left off – sort of; you get to hear about Pap rather than my beloved Huck. This book takes place in the area of upstate New York where I went to college and where my parents still live. It’s not only because of that but also because of Clinch’s startling, vivid prose that I cannot wait to read his new book.

8 Adorable Michelle Williams Red Carpet Looks …

Michell Williams has been making the rounds lately, promoting her new movie Blue Valentine. I heard it’s a wonderful film and I cannot wait to see it. That is, of course, if cinemas in my city bother to show it. If they don’t, I’ll be unhappy. I’ll only have these red carpet photos of Michelle Williams to make me feel slightly better. Take note: not all looks are from Blue Valentine red carpets.

1. Cannes Cutie

I think this is the look that made me notice her red carpet style. Adorable, isn’t it? She wore this to the photocall for Blue Valentine at the Cannes Film Festival last year. The delightful ’5os-inspired dress is from Suno. Her hair looks wonderful here, too, doesn’t it?

2. White Swan

This, in my opinion, is a tad short but phew look at the those shoes! She wore this white Dior dress to the screening of Blue Valentine in New York. Her gorgeous violet pumps are from Charlotte Olympia, by the way. I love how Michelle kept her accessories to a minimum here.

3. Black Bow-Tiful

This particular look is tricky. I like her hair here and her shoes (another Charlotte Olympia pair) are great, too. I find the bottom part of this Azzaro dress beautiful because I think layers and bows go together… The top part, however, is making her look hmm…frumpy? Or perhaps it’s the way she poses. Still, I find the overall look quite cute.

4. Lacy Lovely

Ahh there’s her lovely smile. She should smile more often (and pose in a more relaxed manner) on the red carpet. I have to say that the color of her hair here is better than in the previous photo. Also, I like how she paired her Wren skirt with the Nina Ricci top. A great way to make separates look perfect for a formal event.

7 Worst Smalltalk Topics …

There's good smalltalk and then there is bad smalltalk. What you want to do is avoid that bad smalltalk as much as possible. Of course, the smalltalk that I call bad, may be good in your opinion. Below, I am going to give you some of my ideas on 7 worst smalltalk topics …

7. "I Hate my Girlfriend/Boyfriend"

Come on, starting out a conversation with "I hate my girlfriend/boyfriend" with someone that you are interested in, in my opinion, does not sound like a good idea. I mean, if you have never spoken to this person before and you start out with this conversation, what do you think will go through their mind?

6. "I Hate My Boss"

I don't think this one would be a good idea. Chances are, they will ask you who your boss is and where you work after this. What do you think they would say if the boss turned out to be their mom, dad or some other relative?

5. "I'm So Tired"

I don't know, this one just seems like a lame conversation starter to me. I guess that's because I don't like starting off conversations by complaining – it doesn't set a good impression.

8 Advantages Of Learning To Drive …

Cars may not be the most environmentally friendly means of transport, but getting your licence has many advantages. For some people, having their own transport is essental. Here are some reasons why it's worth learning to drive, even if you don't want or need to own a car.

1. Lifelong Skill

Driving is like learning to ride a bike – it's a skill you never forget. Obviously a car is a little more complicated to handle, but once you have that licence it's yours (subject to renewal). If you don't buy a car straight away, or you take a break from driving, then a lesson or two will refresh your mind when you want to drive again.

2. Freedom

What other transport takes you from door to door (other than a bike, which isn't practical for long distances)? If you learn to drive, you have the freedom to travel where and when you want. You don't even have to own a car; hiring one or joining a carclub can be both more practical and economical if you only need one occasionally.

3. Work

Many jobs require a driver's licence, so having one will open up more employment possibilities to you. It's always worth getting the licence, even if your current job doesn't require it, as you may want or need to change jobs in the future.
