Posted: 12 Jan 2011 11:45 AM PST I love my mom more than anything. She is the most generous, selfless, giving woman I know. I love those qualities about her … but they make her impossible to buy for during the holidays! She never wants anything for herself, and I always want to get her things she will enjoy. Unless I can ferret out specific wishes, I am sometimes at a loss. So, here are 10 great gifts for your mom – even if she does make it really difficult to buy things for her! 1. Massagehttp://s3prod.weheartit.netdna-cdn.com/images/1027557/massage_large.jpg?1258901148 Whether she has a full house or an empty nest, moms still get stressed out. My mom works, cooks, takes care of her home and her husband, and still takes care of me even though I live in the next state. She totally gets stressed. If your mom is the same way, gifting her with a massage is a great idea. Let her get pampered without having to pay for it! 2. Mani/Pedihttp://s3prod.weheartit.netdna-cdn.com/images/779356/2537997260_c86ec8d08b_large.jpg?1254199802 Not every mom is into manicures and pedicures, but a lot of them are. Again, this is a great way to pamper your mom, plus it will make her feel pretty. An alternative to this is to give her a manicure yourself; it will make for some great girl time with each other, and moms and daughters can always use more quality time. 3. Concert Ticketshttp://s3prod.weheartit.netdna-cdn.com/images/4290003/paul-l1_large.jpg?1286648725 If there is a concert, ballet, play, or what have you, that you know your mom has been dying to see, grab them up! You can set her up to go out with her girlfriends, her husband, the whole family, or again, it can be a fantastic mother/daughter activity. Just try to feel her out and know who’d enjoy going. In other words, if your dad hates the ballet, don’t plan on him agreeing to attend.

8 Craziest Celebrity Stalkers … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 10:47 AM PST Stalkers go back as long as famous people have been around. There's always someone who takes admiration a step too far. Being intrigued by someone is one thing, but having an obsession for someone can cause pain in more ways than one. The 8 craziest celebrity stalkers I could find are listed below. Feel free to share any others you've heard of that might top this list! 8. Margaret Mary Rayhttps://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNXYn9O9JkCXGLaatCZcU_hxCasBBgWYe1RUU1LJZTZ4HYBeuaHZ_HUF3bYtCmbfIg2UpiImEM6Ahq_zt0tDNt_nFpgiQQDokz18cGIgwNrDvmD0USl_U11UVGVsbYYACXt3aSJdJwVe-/s1600-h/vixen+-+margaret+ray.jpg This woman was a schizophrenic patient who stalked David Letterman for quite a few years. She wanted to be his lover. Ray even stole Letterman's Porsche, while she had her 3 year old son with her. When the police pulled her over and questioned her about the Porsche, Ray claimed to be the wife of Letterman and that the child in the car was their son. She also broke into Letterman's home on multiple occasions. Once, Ray left an empty bottle of whiskey and cookies in Letterman's foyer. She eventually took her own life in 1998. 7. Dawnette Knighthttp://resources2.news.com.au/images/2009/08/19/1225763/921362-in-2004-dawnette-knight-32-year-old-who-planned-on-6523235-jpg.jpg In 2004, this woman threatened Catherine Zeta-Jones via letters in which she stated she would cut Zeta-Jones up into pieces and feed her to the dogs. Knight also told Zeta-Jones that she knew the layout of her home and who her nanny was. She was in love with Michael Douglas and figure if she got his wife out of the way, she'd have a chance with Douglas. 3 years of jail time was served by Knight after Zeta-Jones nearly had a nervous breakdown. 6. Robert O'Ryanhttp://farm6.static.flickr.com/5163/5312611257_7004cfbf3e.jpg Shawn Johnson was stalked by O'Ryan for a short period of time. O'Ryan had it in his head that he and Johnson were an item and even had a child together. When he was arrested, O'Ryan's car had a roll of duct tape and 2 guns that were loaded. There was never a trial by jury, since O'Ryan pleaded guilty by reason of insanity.
8 Pieces of Expert Advice About Life … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 10:28 AM PST Life is such a crazy thing, you know? Living day to day, never knowing what the next hour holds…living through joys and pains…smiles and tears. Questions race through our heads when things go wrong – “Why me? Why now?” We lay in the grass staring at the clouds wondering what we should do next, wondering what road we should take. Though I’m not considered “old and wise” yet, I have a few tips about life I’d like to share with you…things I’ve learned about life. 1. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”Joseph Kennedy (Father of our own President John F. Kennedy) and Knute Rockne said a mouthful when they uttered these words. Difficulties and hard times in our life are not always put there as a way to hurt us, but rather to strengthen us, by working harder to make things right or put things back together. Though I realize some of you may not believe in God, I do. I believe that He sends trials and hardships in our lives to make us better people. Though it hurts while it’s happening, we’re better in the long run – basically the same as a good vaccination. Yes, that needles hurts, the vaccine stings, but our immune system is strengthened, and we are made better by it. 2. "Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death."Albert Einstein was one of the smartest men ever born, and yet, even he realized that we never get too old, or know too much that we can’t learn more. We should constantly live our lives in a way that is always teaching – both us and those around us. As we grow and mature and learn, younger eyes are looking upon us, gleaning bits and pieces of information that will mould them and make them into something great, or something not-so-great. How can we expect our children to learn things when we ourselves think we are above learning? This doesn’t mean that every adult should have a college education, or attend trade school. Life itself is our teacher – we learn from the experiences that we face, and those that our friends and family encounter as well. When is the last time that you learned something?
7 Tips on How to Improve Your Memory … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:51 AM PST For some people, eidetic or photographic memory is a natural talent. They can remember numbers, names, pages and pages of text and all kinds of tiny details and they even have a special way of remembering them. Being one of the lucky ones, I can tell you two things. First: It's not as hard as it seems. Second: You can do it too! So here's a few tips on how to improve your memory skills and develop new ones: 1. Use different colorsThis is the oldest trick in the book. Literally! So, if you have a lot of text you to memorize, try using markers to highlight important things and make certain paragraphs and bulletins stand out. You see, a brain is like a computer – it stores information using a certain criteria and if there is no specific criteria all your "files" will end up in the same "folder". Now, that may not present a huge problem if there's only 2-3 files or things to memorize but as the number of information increases, so does the effort needed to pick the needed one out of the stack. Highlighting the crucial things or definitions red, examples and further explanations yellow, and other potentially useful things green, could help your brain color-coordinate data, narrow down the search to a specific "folder" only, and come up with a complete answer in a very short time. 2. Shapes and picturesOur brain remembers images better than plain words so the best way to take the most out of your memory is to find a way to combine these two. Doodle! What is the first thing you think about after reading a certain text? If your text has something to do with planes draw a tiny plane. Make up your own symbols and construct a simple formula that has all the elements of the text you need to memorize. You can also frame the important paragraphs or draw stars and exclamation points next to them.
7 Reasons the Beekman Boys Rule … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:50 AM PST The Fabulous Beekman Boys have quickly become extremely popular. The show is on Planet Green, and it’s gone off like a rocket. I love them myself – the show, the boys, and the Beekman, all of it. And here are the 7 reasons the Beekman Boys rule, in my (not so) humble opinion. 1. Josh Kilmer-PurcellJosh Kilmer-Purcell is basically my favorite writer ever. I Am Not Myself These Days is my favorite memoir, The Bucolic Plague is divine, and Candy Everybody Wants is just hot. A former drag queen, an advertising executive, and a gentleman farmer, there is nothing he does not do – and he does most of it while model walking, which is fabulous and should become the next trend. 2. RecipesThe Boys have the best recipes. They just saved my butt with their Christmas special. My dad wants a fruitcake for Christmas, I’ve been trying to look for recipes that don’t make me want to have an aneurysm, and then Josh came to my rescue. I figure if he can do it while drinking the rum itself, I should be able to manage. Even if I take the baker’s portion of booze, too! 3. Farmer JohnFarmer John is so adorable – and he loves his goats so much! I love seeing the stoical way he interacts with Brent especially. He just seems like the kind of guy you want to spend all your time hugging. At least, I want to spend all my time hugging him.
8 Complaints Men Have About Dating Women … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:48 AM PST I have 8 guy friends that I talk to (I used some of my husbands friends) in order to get 8 complaints men have about dating women. For the sake of them, I am not going to include their names anywhere in here. This blog is the real thing – from real people. I am going to give you 8 complaints men have about dating women … 8. Very Loud"When I took the girl out on our first date, I noticed something in her that I did not like. I did not like how she was very loud. This took away from her sex appeal. She had a loud, booming voice, which took away the femininity. She reminded me of some of my loud guy friends." 7. Woman is Too Bossy"I hate when a woman acts as if she owns me. I remember my second girlfriend. I regretted her moving in with me. The moment she moved in with me, even though I was paying the bills, it was as if it were her house. She even took away my video games as if I am some kid." 6. Menstrual Cycle"There we were, sitting there in the middle of our dinner when she started talking about her menstrual cycle! Okay, am I the only guy that found this one a bit odd? I am all for being open with one another, but do I really need to hear about the menstrual cycle as I am eating?"

7 Etiquette Rules I Wish People Would Follow … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 08:46 AM PST My grandmother is always saying how rude people are these days, and how much more polite they were when she was young. I always wrote her complaining off as old-lady grouchiness, until I realized she was right — we're so rude to each other! We've completely forgotten etiquette and good manners. Gramma is right (though she is still grouchy). Here are 8 etiquette rules I wish people would follow. 1. Please and thank youThis is one of the bits of etiquette we learn first, practically before we can even speak, so why do we stop using it so soon? It's simple. When you're asking for something, say please. When you get it, say thank you. It's so easy, and so important, but so few people still use this set of manners. 2. No cuts! When we're little, we also learn how to stand in a queue, but at what age do we forget, or stop caring? When does it become acceptable to just ignore etiquette and cut in line? 3. TippingI know that in some cultures and places, tipping isn't widely practiced, but here in the States, in EVERY state, we're supposed to tip certain service providers if they wow us with their service skills and attitudes. So why don't people tip, or, almost worse, tip appropriately?

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 05:39 AM PST I am sure, by now, many of you know who Ashley Greene is. I know I sure do! I mean, if you are a Twilight fan like myself, then you know who this girl is. Come on, she is the girl that plays Alice Cullen. In real life, she enjoys outdoor sports such as cliff diving and hiking – so she is not always running away from the sunlight. Let me give you 7 facts on Ashley Greene. 7. Never Played BaseballBefore the filming of Twilight, Ashley Greene has never played baseball before. For the baseball scene, she definitely had to go through some training. Don't worry, she really did pitch the ball and she says she only hit the camera two times. 6. HollywoodAshley decided to move to Hollywood when she was seventeen years old. She moved to Hollywood after she finished high school. She used to live in my area, which is Jacksonville, Florida. 5. Punk'dAshley has appeared on Punk'd as well ad MadTV when she was first starting off with her acting career. Do any of you remember those episodes with Ashley in them?
7 Creative Ways to Wrap Presents this Holiday Season … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 01:34 AM PST I am horrible at wrapping presents. Inevitably, I end up with too much paper on one end and not enough of the other. Every box looks horribly sloppy and I wind up covered in tape and tears. It’s awful! This year, rather than shove everything in gift boxes, I turned my attention to discovering 7 creative ways to wrap presents this holiday season. 1. Collage BoxI love this idea. You can do pretty much anything with it. Use family pictures, holiday gift cards, or anything like that, and glue them to a gift box. You can make it any size you want, use it for any present, and the overall result is a gorgeous, personal box that the recipient will want to keep forever! 2. Different Wrapping PapersIf you’re like me and always have an excess of paper no matter what you do, just do it on purpose. Layer different styles of wrapping paper while you wrap. Make them complement, of course, but other than that, the choice is yours. Rather than taping everything up, you can make a puff at the top, which will allow the recipient to see all the different types of paper you used. 3. Totally TulleYou can wrap with fabric rather than paper – as you will see. At the very least, tulle makes a great fabric for creating lovely ribbons. Wrapping layers of it around a present, however, creates a really misty, ethereal effect, perfect for girls and women of all ages – or boys for that matter, it all depends on the color you choose.
8 Punctuality Tips Everyone Should Follow … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 01:30 AM PST Being punctual is something that I rarely have difficulty with, as long as I am the only one I have to take care of. Getting the rest of my family corralled and to their destinations on time is a different story. For the most part, the kids do a good job at being punctual for school, work, and other appointments. Here are 8 punctuality tips everyone should follow or at least try to! 8. Make sure your watch is correctI'm sure this is a given for most. You'd probably be surprised to know how many people rely on a faulty watch to keep them punctual. Watch batteries die, the timing is off; the watch wearer forgets to wind it, etc. There are so many things that can go wrong with a watch. I recommend double-checking your watch every now and then to make sure it is keeping the correct time. 7. Be sure you are reading the clock correctlyI can recall at least twice where I've glanced at the clock hands and misjudged the hand placement. I've looked at the short hand of a clock and mistook it for the long hand, due to them being placed so close together at a particular time. Thankfully I wasn't trying to keep track of time for punctual purposes; otherwise I would have been late for my appointment. However, I was watching the time for something that was baking in the oven. Yep, I burned it to a crisp. I glanced at the clock and noted where the small hand was – thinking it was the large hand – when I looked back at the clock after some time and realized it hadn't moved, I noticed my mistake. Unfortunately the baked goods were emitting a burnt smell from the oven at approximately the same instant.
8 Emergency Party Hair Fixers … Posted: 12 Jan 2011 01:01 AM PST Being notified that there is a party due to start within the hour isn't usually that big of a deal, when it comes to finding something to wear. However, my hair is a different story. I have days where it takes me at least an hour to determine what it wants to do. My opinion on what it should do isn't usually highly regarded. Here are 8 emergency party hair fixers for those last minute invites. I hope you can put them to good use! 8. Braid itWhen my hair hasn't been washed yet, I find that putting it in a braid hides its flatness and keeps people from noticing that it isn't as full and flouncy as usual. There are so many styles of braids to choose from. You could braid all of your hair into one giant French plait, maybe some fish scale braids can be done on both sides, or even a basic braid looks great. Whatever you are able to do, try it out and see what you think. 7. Weave in some ribbonsIf you do go for the braided look, weaving in some ribbons will spice things up a bit. I think brightly colored ribbons are very festive. You could even twist some ribbons into your hair and wind it all up into a sort of sloppy bun. You'd be surprised at how much the ribbons do for your hairdo. They are capable of making even a drab do look a bit fancier. 6. Bobby pins work wondersI've used nearly 20 bobby pins to sculpt my hair into the most amazing shapes and in very little time. There are also brightly colored and sparkly bobby pins that can be added to any hairdo for a different appearance. These might be considered mere accessories, but they do work wonders.
7 Ways To Deal With Mutual Friends After A Breakup … Posted: 11 Jan 2011 12:15 PM PST Have you ever been in that awkward situation where you're friends with a couple, but then they split? Or you break up with your own partner but have friends in common? In both cases, it can be difficult to know what to do, and to stay friends with both parties. Here are some tips that may help. 1. Your Issues Are Not TheirsWhatever the grievance you have against your ex, it has nothing to do with your friends. Remember that they may still like your ex and wish to remain in contact with them. So if you want to complain about your ex, it's best to do so to someone who doesn't know them, as it won't be very pleasant for a friend to hear. 2. Don't Force Them To ChooseMany people try to take 'custody' of a mutual friend after a breakup, especially if they knew the friend first. This really isn't fair! They're not a piece of property to be divided up, so don't put any pressure on them to choose you or your ex. 3. Avoid Taking SidesIf you're the friend of a separating couple, and you want to stay friends with both of them, try to avoid getting judgemental. Whatever you think about the situation, and even if you believe that one party is at fault, keep your opinion to yourself. If you are critical, they may hear about it – goodbye friendship.
