The dynamics of that relationship can also get very interesting. Even if you get along great with your MIL, there is always tension when two families mix. Have you ever wondered what she’s really thinking? Well, here are 7 things your mother-in-law may want to say but keeps to herself. 1. Don’t Avoid AdviceWhile it might feel like your mother-in-law is trying to shove advice down your throat, or like she’s trying to make you do things the way she does them, that’s normally not the case at all. Honestly, your MIL is just trying to help – and she knows you might avoid her for that, but wishes you wouldn’t. She wants you to ask her advice on how to deal with her son or daughter, how to take care of babies, how to handle a problem at work – but she’s probably not comfortable asking you to want her advice, so she may just give it. 2. It might be your parents, your in-laws, siblings, or friends, but at some point you will probably have people staying with you. In those cases, you want to make them feel as welcome and comfortable as possible, so here are 8 tips for making house guests feel at home. 1. Sweet Dreams Are Made of TheseMaking sure the bed in your guest room is comfortable is a huge part of making a guest feel at home. You may not be able to recreate the comforts and luxuries of a hotel room, but you can still create a wonderful, welcoming space. Basically, the rule of thumb is to make sure you create a room you would like to sleep in as well. So, no lumpy fold out couches or uncomfortable futons. That’s not to say these objects aren’t okay to use, just make sure they’re comfortable! 2. Lots of Lovely LinensPart of creating a lovely guest room and bed involves making sure you have nice linens. Basically, don’t simply take those old linens you don’t want to use anymore yourself. PreparationAfter answering the door to a delivery man early one morning this week, and then seeing myself in the mirror afterwards, I have come to the conclusion that I simply should not be seen until I have had the chance to make myself look vaguely human. | 7 Things I Wish I Had Time For … Posted: 19 Jan 2011 09:44 AM PST  I'm probably busier now that I work for myself, and now that I'm a full-time college student, and a mother, than I've ever been in my life. It's a good busy, though, and my days are numbered by the rewards of a life I love. But there are a lot of things I miss about having spare time… and a lot of things I wish I had time for. 1. SleepI can't even remember the last time I got more than four hours of sleep in a row, and it's starting to take its toll. My mother, both of my brothers, and daughter also suffer from insomnia, but I think my lack of sleep is more about time than a physical or psychological ailment. 2. ReadingI used to read for pleasure all the time, but now it seems the only reading I do is for school. The only time I actually have for reading is at breakfast with my bowl of cereal, and how much time is that? I'm lucky if I get ten minutes of reading with my two bowls of mini wheats. 3. CookingLike all other working mothers, I wish I had more time to cook. The slow cooker is my best friend, but even it gets less use than I'd like. I do cook at home at least five nights a week, but I wish I could cook more. |

| 8 Stupidest Darwin Award Winners … Posted: 19 Jan 2011 06:57 AM PST  Ever thought that you're so clumsy that one of your biggest achievements would be to die of old age and natural causes? I certainly have felt that way about myself until I heard about a neat little thing called the Darwin Award. This award is actually given post mortem and to people that are so stupid that they have actually done the world a favor for dying and removing themselves from the gene poll. Interested to know more? Well, here are some of the most stupid award winners of all time! 1. The SuperwomanShe didn't actually win the award but being the first runner up sure does qualify her for this list. And, wait until you hear what did she do! A sky literally opened that night over Greensboro, North Carolina, but Rosanne was not scared! Pouring rain and flooded streets didn't stop her from jumping on her moped and driving down to the convenience store. Now, the trip home would certainly go just fine even though there are some speculations that she had a beer, if there wasn't for her love for the two wheeled pet. She has lost control of her moped and fell into a creek! Now, even that wouldn't have led to such a tragic end because a police officer did manage to rescue her. So what was the big freaking problem then? Well, ladies and gents – the woman jumped back in the creek and drowned while trying to save her MOPED! 2. Belgian robbersIf you thing Belgian chocolate is priceless, wait until you hear about their robbers! The two bank robbers in question actually managed to commit a suicide by mistaking the amount of dynamite needed to tear down the ATM machine. Now, who needs police? Why don't we all start giving the robbers some dynamite? |

Significant amounts of caffeine are found in each drinkStudies prove that caffeine has a huge effect on a person's blood pressure, which can increase the chance of heart attack or stroke in a person with a weak heart or thin arteries. The FDA regulates the amount of caffeine contained in soda. The limited amount of caffeine for sodas is 65 mg for every 12 ounces. Some energy drinks contain up to 280 mg per 8.4 ounce serving. 6. Tons of sugar isn't good for the bodyThe human body can only use so much sugar. Any excess sugars consumed are stored as fat. Energy drinks contain a lot of sugar to make them tastier. Sugar is what also feeds plaque on teeth and causes cavities. For a healthy diet, no more than 48 grams of sugar should be consumed in a single day. Use Your Credit CardDo you think this is a wise idea? That alcohol could really get to you and make you buy things that you would not normally purchase. Imagine three to seven days later, finding a three hundred dollar item setting at your door. 7. Change Your PasswordI know, when you're drunk, you do things that you would not normally do – like change your password. Needless to say, you also do not remember things that you did. Therefore, you are not going to remember what you changed your password to. So, you need to avoid changing any passwords. 6. Do a Web ChatOh come on, when you are drunk, do not do a web chat with complete strangers. This totally ruins that first impression. Besides, before you know it, you could end up coming across videos online that you don't remember … all because of that web chat. |
