| 10 Things I Want to Learn How to Do … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 11:21 AM PST There are tons of things I am dying to learn how to do. This year, one of my other resolutions is to just better myself in little ways, to keep learning things so my entire brain doesn’t stagnate from trashy reality TV and reading horror stories. Here are 10 things I want to learn how to do – and if anyone has any tips, I am game! 1. PhotographyI love taking pictures but they rarely turn out good. I don’t want to be a professional photographer or anything, but I would love to take pictures that I could actually display in the house. I am a Photoshop queen so I can technically fake a good picture, but I would rather just learn how to take one and then dress it up if I feel like it. 2. KnittingMy mother-in-law to-be knits a lot. Every time I see her working on something new, I feel my fingers itching to try too. I want to be able to make scarves and sweaters and things. I think that would be awesome. For that matter, I’d love to learn to sew. I’d make my own clothes and things in a heartbeat. 3. RollerbladingI am a disaster on skates. I can’t even skate on standard skates. I would love to learn, though. I know it’s great exercise, not to mention lots of fun. Maybe since I’m older, I can actually hold to my center of balance. |
| Posted: 06 Feb 2011 10:42 AM PST Hooray for shorts! They're ideal for wearing in the heat of summer, or even for layering over tights and leggings in the winter. Wear them with peep-toe heels, Mary Janes, or oxfords; wear them with tunics or tees or turtlenecks… in other words, wear them with anything, anytime! And did you know winter is a good time to buy shorts… why not? I just found some cute shorts at one of my fave online fashion shops… and here they are! 1. Lovely as a Rose Cream Shorts
 2. Spotted From Afar Shorts
 3. All You Need Grey Shorts

| 7 Ways to Incorporate 1920′s Fashion into Your Look … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 10:24 AM PST I love 1920s fashion, the flowy dresses, the gorgeous bobs, the beautiful jewelry. But it can be difficult to find the right pieces to add the look to your wardrobe, and genuine vintage pieces can be pricey! But I can help. One of m favorite fashion sites, ModCloth, has lots of lovely pieces you can wear to add a little 20s flair to your fashion. Here are 7 ways to incorporate 1920s fashion into your look, from head to toe! 1. Tour the Town Hat
 2. Rue Montagne de la Cour Earrings

| The 7 Best Fashion Trends of the Decade … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 09:57 AM PST Some of the best fashion trends of the decade will probably remain with us for years to come due to their versatility and comfort. Before we list out some of the more enduring classics, it is important to point out that not all trends suit all body times. Venture with caution when pursuing a trend, lest it show in a less than flattering light. 1. Leggings
Photo Credit: pearled Until this decade, leggings were a favorite with little girls and not anyone older than 13. They exploded onto the scene towards the middle of the decade as a choice of bottom for any woman who wanted to show off her legs. They could be paired with a short dress, a long shirt or worn under a skirt, providing the wearer a chance to show off their legs without actually having to show any skin. 2. Ballet Flats
Photo Credit: stephmcg The ballet shoe became one of the best fashion trends because it provided women with some much needed comfort and femininity, which was missing on the runway for a while. Available in a host of different colors and styles, they could be paired with almost anything and added a girly touch to most outfits. I personally preferred the black gleaming variety but have seen many women rock the more colorful styles. 3. Low Rise Jeans
Photo Credit: yournextjeans.com Thank God for the low-rise jeans, a definite favorite for best fashion trend. Until then, we were all confined to those hideous high waist-ed ones that did nothing for our figures. With the advent of the low rise cut, we were able to conceal our unsightly flab at the midriff while at the same time make our thighs looking skinnier than ever, a winning combination if every there was one. |
| 8 Ideas For Decorating Your New Baby’s Room … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 09:56 AM PST When a baby is on the way, there is nothing more exciting for a mother than getting the baby’s room all ready! With so many ideas and cute themes, it can’t be too hard…can it? 1. Use Colors!Bright colors stimulate the baby’s brain! Sticking with the primary colors is recommended. A modern theme to go along with these colors is the “jungle” theme! 2. Paint a MuralThere is nothing more lovely in a baby’s room than a wall sized picture! If you’re not the artistic type, call in a friend that is! Have a mural painted to match the color scheme and theme you’ve chosen. My sister in law had an outdoors scene painted, complete with a tree and blue birds! It’s so cute! I’ve seen murals painted for jungle themes, beautiful suns and flowers, rainbows, even an entire stream complete with frogs and lily pads! (Hiring a professional to paint one isn’t much more than buying wallpaper – and it’s a heck of a lot easier to change later!) 3. Go Stripes! If you don’t want the work of painting a mural, another cute wall idea is stripes – big, bold stripes! I seen a photo of a baby girl’s room where the wall was painted in green and cream stripes and the room was accented in antique pinks and roses! It was gorgeous! |
| 12 Netiquette Rules to Remember … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 09:51 AM PST Today, you cannot deny how big the Internet has become. It has evolved into one of the biggest forms of media in the modern world. We spend almost all our days online and can do practically everything on it. The Internet has become a whole new world where there are, much like in real life, rules and regulations to keep the peace and order. These rules, although not formally set, are known collectively as Netiquette. They are important because they promote respect and understanding among Internet users. Here are some general netiquette rules that you should never forget. 1. You're Interacting With a Human BeingEven though you are facing a computer monitor, do not forget that you are actually interacting with another person. You are dealing with someone who has feelings and a personality. Remember to treat people online as you would offline: with respect and with regard to their emotions. 2. TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS SHOUTINGDid you see what I just did there? Yes, I just yelled at you through your computer screen. In real life, it doesn't feel good to get yelled at and that doesn't change online. Avoid using all capital letters unless you absolutely have to (like making an emphasis) because it is the same as shouting. It is rude and can be quite hard to read. 3. EmoticonsEmoticons or emotion icons are facial expressions represented by different characters such as letters and punctuations. In some sites and forums, these characters are automatically converted to corresponding images. Emoticons are useful in expressing your current mood. Just remember to use them in moderation so they don't completely take over what you've written. |

Windows of Lace Top
 2. Fringe Crochet Legwarmer
 3. Lea Fringe Boot

| 8 Advertising Tricks Of The Beauty Industry … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 08:58 AM PST It's no secret that the beauty industry uses all kinds of tricks to persuade us to buy their products. Advertising works by trying to persuade us of the desirability of the products. Some of the methods employed are more obvious than others, so here are some of the tactics to watch out for. 1. Celebrity 'Endorsements'
Photo Credit: fanpop.com It amazes me that companies still use celebrities to promote their products. Do they really think that we believe for one minute that they use whatever they're advertising, and that their hefty fee has nothing to do with it? Though since the practice continues, maybe some consumers are influenced without realising it. 2. Lighting
Photo Credit: chinawholesalelots.com It goes without saying that the model will be made to look unrealistically good. Lighting is one way of achieving this – clever lighting can make anyone appear stunning (in addition to the other tricks listed below). 3. Enhancements
Photo Credit: fadedyouthblog.com If you look at an advert in a glossy magazine, you may see the words 'styled using extensions' or 'styled using false eyelashes'. That is, you may see them if you read the tiny print using a microscope. The model's bouncing curls or inch-long eyelashes may not be entirely her own … |
| 7 Remedies for Fragile Fingernails … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 08:55 AM PST It's not until you meet someone with beautifully manicured talons that your own short, scrubby nails begin to look kind of bad. I have to admit, most of the time I forget about my hands, but every now and again, someone with amazing claws comes along and I find myself unconsciously hiding my own from sight. Now ladies I believe confidence is key, so if something's bringing me down, it needs to be fixed. I've compiled a list of seven effective tips you'll love if you, like me, have nightmare nails … 1. Zinc KickAdd zinc rich foods to your daily diet. Eating eggs and drinking milk is a great way to strengthen up those claws, and tucking into high fibre cereals, soy beans and nuts is sure to help as well. These zinc-ed up snacks will have your talons in shape in no time, especially if you're afflicted with those little white marks – a tell tale sign of zinc deficiency. 2. Acetate is AceA lot of polish removers are acetone based and dry out nails, making them brittle and easily breakable. Instead of settling for this kind of harmful product, hunt around for one that uses acetate. This chemical, manicurists agree, is much less damaging and equally as effective. 3. Hydration HappyDrinking the right amount of water is good for your body generally and will also help to keep your talons in great shape. While dry nails tend to break and split, hydrated ones stay stronger and grow longer. |
| 8 Ways to Make People Like You … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 07:07 AM PST An eternal dilemma – how to make myself more interesting to others? Well, first of all, it's important to not try to be somebody else and fake your way into new friendships. You are wonderful and people don't have a reason not to love you for who you really are. However, there are some mistakes we all sometimes make, mistakes that could intimidate and even drive away any potential dates, friends and acquaintances. So, here are some things you need to work on if you feel like your social life could use a jumpstart: 1. Adopt a positive attitudeWould you rather spend ten minutes talking with a cheerful person or an hour listening to somebody constantly complaining about everything? I'd definitely pick the first one and I'm pretty sure most people would agree with me on that. Negative people spread negative energy and spending time with them usually leaves me feeling drained… as if somebody has sucked out all the life force and happiness out of me. Yes, we all have problems and we all feel much better when we share them with somebody but there's time and place for everything. If you keep trying to turn every story into your personal tragic tale, people will soon find themselves bored and rush to find a more interesting company. 2. Be honestDon't pretend to be something that you are not – it won't bring you anything good. If your little act works you won't feel very good knowing that your friends don't know the real you. If you blow your cover, you'll end up alone and exposed as a faker. You see, that's why I love kids so much, they are always honest! They either love you or they don't and their love has nothing to do with your beauty or social status – they simply love you. Now, it would be great if you could adopt a little bit of that "childish" spirit because, I've met some people that have it, and I have to admit that they have always been the most wonderful company and most lovable people ever! |

| 7 Remedies to Reliving a Sore Shoulder … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 06:26 AM PST I just recently got over having sore shoulders. It began on one side, migrated to the other, then back to the first shoulder. Talk about an uncomfortable week. A few of the 7 remedies to reliving a sore shoulder that I listed below helped me immensely. Most of the other remedies listed were ones my mother used as she recuperated from shoulder surgery last month. 7. MassageDepending on if the pain in your shoulder is associated with muscle or something deeper; massage just might do the trick. Over-using a shoulder or lifting heavy items can cause weak shoulder muscles to ache. A gentle massage can work out the kinks that build up in underdeveloped muscles and ease the pain. 6. Warm CompressI've found that a warm compress helps quite a range of should pain. Applying the compress directly to the aching area of your shoulder should reduce most painful twinges. Even if you are only able to apply a heating pad to the general area of pain, then the heat should be able to radiate to deeper tissue and ease the ache. 5. Muscle RubThere are muscle rubs that feel warm and ones that feel cool. I've gotten great results from the warm ones when I need to apply muscle rub to a painful shoulder muscle. However, if the ache seems to be coming from my shoulder joint, then I use the cool feeling muscle rub instead. If you aren't sure which to use, you can read the tubes of muscle rub and see what each one is best used on. Most muscle rubs tell you what type of ache they are designed to relieve. |
| 7 Tips on Repairing an Xbox 360 RROD … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 06:17 AM PST The X Box 360 is one of the most popular gaming systems of all time, but with this being the number one console, they’re are problems. I’m sure you all have heard about the RROD and dread the thought of it happening to your console. I’m going to give you 7 Tips on Repairing an Xbox 360 RROD … 7. Know What You're Doing FirstIt’s a good idea to get acquainted with the problem first and learn how to solve it before beginning. Many people have guides that can help you learn more about what you need to do. So, do this first, before starting the project. 6. Get Materials That Are NeededThe X box 360 takes a bit of tools to get in it and fix the entire problem. You need a torque 10 screw driver to get the metal plating off to get into the mother board. You also need a flat screw driver to get the white casing off. Thermal glue is needed to put the heat sink and chips back into place. 5. Know That Just Cleaning the Fan Doesn’t HelpWhen you just clean the fan, it won’t help the RROD. This might help ventilation, but don’t stop the GPU or motherboard from heating up. |
| 8 Tips on Looking Great This Time of the Year … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 06:12 AM PST Right now, I am going to give you 8 tips on looking great this time of the year. In this blog, I want to get a message of mine across to someone that I believe needs a confidence booster. I will let that message out in number 1. 8. Eyebrows
Photo Credit: eloganphotography My husband asked me if I ever plucked my eyebrows, because he never saw me doing it, yet they looked plucked all the time. The answer is no, I do not pluck them and I have never had to. I am blessed in that manner – thank goodness. As a good tip – you should keep them plucked and don't let them go everywhere. Keep any hair shaved, even if it is during the winter time. Soft skin with no hair looks and feels sexy. 7. Scarves
Photo Credit: Mr. T in DC During this time of the year it is still chilly. Wait, no, it is freezing! So, yes, a scarf would look great. In fact, a scarf can really make an outfit look good. Just make sure you pick one that suits your outfit. You could always pick a different scarf each day. 6. Earrings
Photo Credit: tara.biglari I always thought earrings looked great, no matter what time of the year is. I personally like wearing the big hoop earrings. I like the dangly type. When you do this, make sure you do not wear any necklace that clashes with them. This can really break a look. |

By the time you get to the enemy, you get shot too much and need health. Ammo for the guns in this game is hard to get and can be a problem if you don't have enough med packs. 6. | 8 Cool Birthday Themes for Little Girls … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 12:19 AM PST Decorating for birthday parties is the best fun ever! I've always been one to make a big deal out of birthdays, especially when my kids were little. I still decorate the house with streamers, but themed birthday parties are a thing of the past around here. If you are looking for some ideas for your daughter, niece, granddaughter, sister, or a child of a friend, then you might like the list I've provided below. Here are 8 cool birthday themes for little girls. 8. Wild West
Photo Credit: Schultes in Germany Boys don't have to have all the fun. I remember wanting to have a horse and ride around on it. Little girls like to dress up in cowboy hats, shirts with fringe, and all the attire that cowboys do. Why not have a western themed party where cowgirls are the main guests. This is a birthday party theme that boys can take part in as well, if there are some that show up to the birthday gathering. 7. Princesses
Photo Credit: fantasyparty.org I have yet to come across a little girl who doesn't like dressing like a princess. Sure, there might be a certain age range that serves as a cut-off for this theme, but most little girls have a blast with the princess theme. Get a box of gauzy material, tiaras, and some costume jewelry for guests to wear if they don't have their own princess attire for the party. 6. Garden Party
Photo Credit: visitnacogdoches.org If you have a little girl who enjoys helping you out in the garden, why not a garden party for her birthday? Maybe you could even place a table out in the garden for serving refreshments on. Sprinkle some plastic lady bugs all over the table and make the center piece a collection of brand new garden tools stuck in a bucket full of sand. It might be best if the tools are suitable for whatever age the party girl is, instead of using tools make for adult hands. |
| 7 Times when PDA Is Not Okay … Posted: 06 Feb 2011 12:09 AM PST Public displays of affection. PDAs. Love them or hate them, pretty much everyone has an opinion of them. And whether you love them or want them banned forever, you just have to admit that there is a time to indulge in PDA … and at least 7 times when PDA is not okay. 1. Kid’s MoviesNo one needs to turn a G or PG rated movie into a hardcore R rated flick. Toy Story 3 was never meant to be a love story like that. I have to wonder about anyone who decides it’s cool to make out in the theatre while they’re watching Tangled or something anyway. I mean, that’s just weird. Some movies are just not conducive to romance. 2. RestaurantsI actually typically don’t really care where I see people kissing, but there are exceptions. New Year’s Eve, the Better Half and I were out at one of Salem’s superb surf ‘n turf restaurants, right? And seated right behind this is this couple, in their late 30s, early 40s, something like that, not eating the delicious gourmet menu prepared for the evening, oh no! They were eating one another’s faces. As we left, they cheerfully wished us a happy holiday. The gentleman was waving and had a big smile on his face – along with half of his date’s lipstick, smeared all over his mouth. Do not make out in restaurants. Not even Burger King. 3. At SchoolPDA can actually get you in trouble at school. I once got in trouble for simply resting my arms on my boyfriend’s shoulders. Even if you’re in college, it’s just bad form to make out on campus or in the quad. Take it back to the dorm rooms – and if you’re younger than that, do it off school grounds! |
| 7 Ways To Boost Your Chances of Getting Pregnant … Posted: 05 Feb 2011 12:20 PM PST If you are ready to start a family, or add to your family, and are having difficulties getting pregnant, maybe this article will give you some ideas you may not have thought about. In all seriousness, some women have absolutely no problems becoming pregnant. But I know a few women who have had a hard time conceiving. If you fall into "hard time" category, please read this article… 1. Exercise moreEvery hour of exercise you do each week lowers your risk of infertility related to your ovulation cycle. Exercise with vigorous movements such as jogging or running up the stairs. This pumps your heart rate as well as helps you loose weight. Muscle mass makes your body more sensitive to insulin which promotes ovary function. 2. Eat healthy carbsHigh blood sugar levels can throw off you're your ovulation. You need to eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that level your blood sugar, not spike them or make them drop drastically. 3. Watch the skim milkLow fat dairy products actually increase your hormones that are tied to polycystic ovary syndrome. It is better to drink whole milk if you are trying to get pregnant! |
