8 Uses For Old Yoghurt Pots …

8 Uses For Old Yoghurt Pots …

Do you find yourself throwing away what seems like hundreds of yoghurt pots every week? I seem to get through a fair number, but although we are now able to recycle them where I live, this is not the case everywhere. So, because I dislike the idea of them being thrown in the garbage, I've come up with some ideas for making good use of them. Plus it's even better to reuse than recycle!

1. Scoop

Yoghurt pots make the perfect scoop for any dried goods that come in large bags or sacks. I use them to fill my cats' bowls with dry food. A large pot would also be ideal for using to scoop compost from a sack. Another possibility is to fill up bird feeders, but I'm sure you can think of more uses.

2. Seedlings

Are you a keen gardener who likes to grow plants from seeds? Seed pots can be expensive if you use a lot, so start collecting yoghurt pots. Either plant several seeds in each one, or use them to 'pot up' the seedlings as they grow.

3. Paint Pots

Do your kids love painting? Yoghurt pots are great for decanting paints as they're deep enough to hold a decent amount of colour without spilling. They're also good for mixing colours, and can be saved for future use or thrown away afterwards.

10 Ways to Clear Your Mind …

10 Ways to Clear Your Mind …

From time to time, all of our minds get bogged down. That is something that is doomed to happen and it can happen during any time of the day. Let me give you 10 ways to clear your mind …

10. Spend Time with Your Lover

One of the best ways to clear your mind would be to go out and have fun with the one you love. I enjoy spending time with my husband. Apart from him, my little girl is also a great way to clear my mind. So, if you don't have a lover, but you have a kid, spend time with the kid.

9. Meditate

Meditating always seems to work good with me. For an added feature, place some scented candles in the room as you are meditating. Perhaps you could use a lavender candle?

8. Watch Youtube for a Bit

When I am writing and I feel that I need a break, I will flash over and watch Youtube. There are so many different things on there. Sometimes, I'll watch my husband's videos, while other times I'll go watch something funny or watch a music video.

8 Fun Things To Do In An Airport …

Don't you just hate it when you are stuck in an airport for hours on end? For many of us who travel on a frequent basis, this occurrence is more common than you would imagine. Instead of getting bored and hating every minute you spend in the airport, how about trying out some of these fun things to do in an airport?

1. Catch Up On Your Reading

While this is perhaps the most obvious one, it can nonetheless be interesting and fun. Go to a bookstore in the airport and buy a book that you always wanted to read but never had a chance to. Alternatively, buy a book that you have never heard of before and learn something new.

2. Explore New Food

Most of us are creatures of habit and tend to order the same types of food wherever we go. Go to an airport restaurant and try out something that you have never eaten before.

3. People Watching

Most of us are so busy in our lives; we hardly have any time to consider other people in the general public. I think people-watching is by far one of the most fun things to do in an airport. You will be surprised at all the things you observed that otherwise go unnoticed.

7 Amazing Inside-Out Makeovers …

Who says you have to get your hair and nails and makeup done to have a makeover? You don’t need to change your wardrobe or find a new hair color or anything like that. After all, true makeovers start from within; to be truly beautiful outside, you have to be beautiful inside as well. That being said, here are 7 amazing inside-out makeovers!

1. Exercise

Groan, I know. But aside of getting healthy and fit, exercise really does make you feel better. I can promise you this, because I’ve actually kept up with my New Year’s resolution to exercise and/or be active every single day. It does make me feel better, and because I feel better, I look better – even when I’m just running around in my pajamas!

2. Eat Well

Eating well leads to feeling well, and feeling well leads to looking great. Now, I’m going to put my own spin on this one: you need to eat foods that are good for you, but tell me the truth. Don’t you sometimes feel sumptuous and sensual and sexy when you eat the right kind of chocolate? I rest my case.

3. Give to Others

Being generous with others is a great way to feel good about yourself. Making others feel good, helping them out, being kind, and so on, just makes you feel really great. After all, you’re doing someone nice for someone, either because you love them or because they need it.

7 Things People Think They Can Recycle But Can’t …

When I found all this info on recycling, I was in for a surprise. I didn’t realize that things I had been recycling could have caused my entire collected recyclables to go to the landfill! There are things that you must watch putting in your recycle bins, so listen up! Here are 7 things we commonly think we can recycle, but we really can’t… how many of these end up in your bin? Keep reading…

1. Dirty Food Containers

The greases and yuckies of dirty food containers like take-out boxes & pizza boxes makes these recycle gems worthless. The grease damages the good part of the container. Just throw them away… don’t even attempt to recycle them…

2. Cosmetics

Because of some of the ingredients in your makeup containers, most recycling places won’t accept them. However, on a good note, there is one place that will accept all brands and forms of cosmetic containers. Go here for more info! origins.com

3. Napkins, Paper Towels & Tissues

Soiled paper products have the same issues with recycling that dirty food containers do. Many times, the grade of recyclable materials are too low for many to even bother with anyway. So, don’t recycle your snotty tissue – they don’t want it! Can you blame them… would you?

7 Ways You Can Motivate Yourself …

7 Ways You Can Motivate Yourself …

I am not at all motivated today. This has actually been happening to me more and more frequently lately, in many different areas of my life. And I finally just bore in and realized that no one else is going to motivate me; nothing outside of myself is going to do it either. I have to do it either. Here are 7 ways you can motivate yourself if you have this problem too.

1. Leave Your Comfort Zone

You can’t be afraid to hop out of your comfort zone, even if it’s regarding something small. Maybe it involves getting up earlier, incorporating exercise into your routine, or even creating a schedule for yourself. It might be something bigger than that as well. Either way, don’t be afraid to try something new. The results might surprise you.

2. It’s OK to Make a Mistake

When you try to be self-motivating, it is not uncommon to get driven back a step or two or five if you mess up or make a mistake. It’s thus important to realize that it’s totally all right if you make a mistake. That doesn’t mean you have to stop or change your plans. It just means you need to try again. Maybe tackle whatever it is you’re trying to do from another angle and see if that helps.

3. Don’t Limit Your Thinking

You know that phrase, "think outside the box," right? I cordially detest that phrase, but at the same time I understand it and agree with the sentiment. That’s what you need to do when you’re trying to motivate yourself. Don’t limit the way you think or feel. Be open to new experiences and to trying new things.

7 Interesting Things I Learned Reading Magazines …

Is it rational to buy something you'll only use once? Like a magazine, for example? Is money spent on magazine money well spent or money wasted? Psychologists say people buy magazines because they represent the perfect balance of real life and fantasy – reading about exotic destination, other people's problems and expensive clothes helps you zone out of your everyday life while reader-oriented topics, tutorials, tips and tricks are what keeps you interested. Well, I have to admit magazines are a great way to kill some time, plus, there's always the chance you'll actually read something useful. Here's a few things I've read in the magazines:

1. Aspirin can do magic

I always have a breakout in the worst possible time. You know those days when you get your period and your face starts blooming with huge, red, pulsating spots? Well, for me, period is not the only critical time. Whenever there is an important event I need to attend and look my best, I get a huge zit the very same morning. I had this bad one when my fiancé proposed, I looked like a freaking unicorn, I tell you! Now, that's where magazines come handy because, every once in a while, they suggest something you don't have to waste huge money on. Like aspirin, for example! So whenever you have a zit, just take an aspirin, powder it, mix with a few drops of water to get a paste, apply the paste to the "cause of your headache" and leave it on for as long as you can. The zit will be GONE!

2. Adult toy industry is HUGE

Every once in a while, your favorite magazine will have a piece on sex toys and although some of them look cool, some will probably shock you. You'll read one, two, three of those articles and think "Oh, they certainly can't surprise me now" … when you're about to read the forth. But, surprise, surprise! They will find something new! Like pearls that glow in the dark, for example. Why would I need something glowing out of my vajayjay? To be able to find it if I ever lose it in the dark room? Or, an 18-karat gold vibrator. Or, a glass dildo you can put in the freezer or dip into hot water depending on the season. LOL! Now, I can really imagine why would this be a useful piece of info, but you never know.

8 Tips on Avoiding Hackers …

8 Tips on Avoiding Hackers …

One of the most annoying things that can happen to my computer would be a hacker stole all my personal information. Once a hacker attacks your computer, they can ruin your computer in matter of seconds. They can download all your personal data to a computer or flash drive. Now, let's talk about my blog about 8 Tips on Avoiding Hackers …

8. Avoid Downloading From Torrent Websites

Torrent websites are major back doors to viruses, malware and Trojans. You can also get some bad adware that makes you click on unwanted pop ups. These programs that invade your computer can ruin your hard drive, erase .dll files and change windows settings. There are even programs that allow hackers to get your information through key logging your typed keys. This means it tracks your websites you visit and give them all the passwords to everything that was visited.

7. Download a Firewall

A good firewall program is needed for any computer that uses a Windows OS. Firewalls can block unwanted activity that you can't see harming your computer. Hackers can move in fast and attack and then no traces of them is found. A firewall will get them every time and it will show the intruders IP. This can help you tell your service provider of who is attacking your computer. They can block them, but the firewall will do that if you tell it too.

6. Virus protection

Viruses are the main cause if a hacker gets into your computer. You can get a backdoor virus that allows the user or hacker to invade files on the computer. Viruses also can cause windows to become unstable and you will need a new reformat the hard drive.

8 Tips to Avoid Break Ins …

We all want to keep our homes safe. Having a home broken into can be a gut-wrenching experience. Not only is there the physical loss of objects, there is also the sickening feeling of having your privacy invaded. Below are just a few tips to help you avoid your home getting broken in to.

1. Befriend your neighbours

Everybody needs good neighbours. When you form friendships with people, you are more likely to look out for each other. The more familiar your neighbours are with your household habits and routines, the more likely they are to notice when someone something isn't quite right. Watchful neighbours are a handy thing to have.

2. Minimise hiding spaces

If there are fewer places for burglars to hide in your yard, there are fewer chances of them targeting your house. This means keeping big trees and bushes away from windows and doors. It doesn't mean you have to have a stark garden – just keep it well maintained. Higher visibility will most likely deter burglars, and if there's a shady character hanging around your house, people will notice.

3. Don't leave a spare key out

While it may come in handy when you lock yourself out, it will also come in handy for many a savvy burglar. You may think no one will find it, but you can never be too sure. Instead, leave your spare key with a neighbour or close friend. Someone you can rely on to be there when you need them most!

The 7 Worst Diets Ever …

The 7 Worst Diets Ever …

Everyone wants to have a beautiful body. In fact, today's women are more health conscious than ever before. Unfortunately, there are a lot of companies that want to take advantage of this and exploit women with diets that are actually harmful for their health. If you are looking for ways to get healthy and drop a few pounds, make sure to avoid these seven worst diets ever.

1. The "Detox" Drink Diet

There are a variety of these diets on the market today, but they all do the same thing. You drink a nasty "natural" juice every hour for two days and it is supposed to cause all of the toxins to flee your body. Supposedly, this will make the way clear for the pounds to start melting off as your body functions properly again. In truth, all this diet does is leave you dehydrated, exhausted, and overwhelmed with a nasty case of diarrhea.

2. The "Cabbage Soup" Diet

This is one of the oldest routines known to desperate women. If you eat plain cabbage soup as your only nutrition for two weeks, you will supposedly become the incredible shrinking woman. While you will drop weight on this diet, it won't last and as soon as you eat solid food again, you will gain it all back.

3. The Carnivore Diet

There are several variations of this diet on the market today, but they all have one thing in common. You eat unlimited amounts of animal based proteins such as meat, cheese, and eggs. You just avoid all traces of carbohydrates, even those found in fruits and whole grains. This diet is a horrible choice and will leave you a few pounds lighter with high cholesterol and no energy.

7 Fashion Rules that no Longer Apply …

7 Fashion Rules that no Longer Apply …

Fashion trends come and that pretty much goes for the fashion rules too. Now, I seriously doubt any creative individual would follow any given rule to the letter but some of those rules have really been out there for so long that we didn't really get a fair choice. We grew up with them and they kind of became normal. Luckily, not even old, traditional fashion rules are not immune to "out with the old, in with the new" policy of the modern world so let see which rules can we finally forget:

1. Do not wear white after Labor Day

This is a very old rule practiced in US and, since we don't have it here in Europe, I've never quite understood the reason behind it. Labor Day is somewhere in mid September and since weather usually gets cold and rainy in this time, I'm guessing it has a lot to do with that. Some even say this was a way to separate the members of low and high class. Anyways, until I find an acceptable reason, I'm just going to say this – If September feels like summer on your part of the globe, wear whatever you want to. You don't need me to tell you that rainy days are not a good time to wear white shoes and pants but, if you have a coat on, I don't see a reason why a white shirt or blouse couldn't be a part of your after Labor Day outfit.

2. Don't mix black and brown

I've always viewed black as a neutral color that goes great with all others, including brown." Luckily" my mom was there to remind me that these two colors don't go well together. Well, I've never listened to her, always broke this rule and I'm really glad it's gone now. Nobody can make you wear these two colors if you don't like any of them or how they look together, that's for sure. But, if this silly rule is what kept you away from all those black 'n' brown styles, the only thing I can say to you is GO FOR IT GIRL!

7 Ways to Fashionably Fit In With the 70s Revival …

Being a child of the’ 70s, I am all about the mix of glamour and bohemian. And the popularity of roller skating, of course. Clothing familiar to that era has proven to be so timeless in reference of style that they are being revived for this spring. In fact, I might be in love with that entire decade of fashion regardless of what is considered trendy nowadays. Plus, the movement gives me an excuse to break my vintage Berman's leather trench out of storage. Bring back the sexy disco days gone by with these seven 70s-inspired style statements:

1. Platforms

I knew there was a reason I never tossed my platform shoes – it was for this very moment: a time where I could pretend to not look (or sound) clunky and out-of-place while glamming it up in 70s fashion. And not dressing as a Charlie's Angel for Halloween. I may tower over you – and try not to topple ON to you – but I will look so chic doing so.

2. Vibrant Colors

Psychedelic influences inspire this season's retro revival with lots of vibrant pinks, corals and reds. "Honeysuckle" – the most popular spring color, according to the Pantone Fashion Color Report for 2011– just has a 70s tongue to it, eh? The decade was all about color, and this year proves to be no different.

3. Pants!

The menswear influences of the late 70s have come back to haunt (rather fashionably) 2011: high-waisted, wide-legged and big cuffs are seen on the omnipresent pant in most spring lines. Heck, even jumpsuits have made a comeback. The long and lean look makes total sense, considering the height of our platforms paired up with the revival of this staple.

8 Unconventional Hobbies and Sports …

There are many common hobbies and sport that we know of such as camping, rock climbing, collecting toys, playing soccer or basketball, making jewelry, scrapbooking, singing, and dancing. When we hear people say that they do these things, we won't be surprised because a lot of people also have those hobbies. But there are also people who participate or engage in not-so-common hobbies and sports. What would your reaction be to these unconventional recreational activities?

1. Taxidermy

Taxidermy is not as morbid as it sounds. Actual animal skin is only sometimes used to recreate a lifelike 3D representation of an animal. Usually it's antlers together with a man-made framework that is more commonly utilized. There are also times when the representation is completely man-made. Taxidermists are skilled in different crafts such as carpentry, woodworking, tanning, molding, casting, sculpting, painting, and drawing.

2. Urban Exploring

Urban exploring is the examination of the unseen, off-limits, and abandoned places of modern civilization. Usually, urban explorers go to hospitals, schools, drains, military bases, crypts, tunnels, factories, homes and castles. This is an exciting and sometimes dangerous hobby. Urban explorers face the dangers of spiders, snakes, wild animals, poisoned plants, asbestos, rotting floorboards and ceilings, cave ins, homeless people, and the police.

3. Quidditch

I think I already wrote about this in my Harry Potter post but I thought it should be mentioned again. Yes, there is such a thing as Muggle Quidditch. In the 2010 International Quidditch Association World Cup, there were 146 teams and over 700 players from two participating countries. Players still play with brooms and the rules and equipments are basically the same with the Wizarding World's Quidditch except for modifications to suit play on ground.

7 Tips for Improving your Posture …

7 Tips for Improving your Posture …

I hope these 7 tips for improving your posture are some you can use. If you already know about each of them, then feel free to pass them on to friends who are interested in improving their posture. It doesn't matter if you are trying to impress those around you are simply improve for yourself, having good posture has additional benefits as well. Supposedly your body is better able to digest food easier when you have good posture.

7. Wear shoes with lots of support

Worn out shoes don't provide you with a level walking surface. Shoes that are worn on the edges will make you lean farther to one side and they also tend to cause back muscles to develop more on one side than the other. When back muscles are stronger on one side, they will cause you to lean more towards the side with the stronger muscles.

6. Get a friend to help remind you

If you have a friend who is excellent at bossing people around, then get her to help you improve your posture. I'm sure she'd be all for letting you know when your posture is less than desirable. Maybe you have a friend who also wants to improve her posture. You could be buddies in this endeavor and remind each other to quit slouching or to sit up straight. It's actually hard to be mindful of when you are showing poor posture. Having someone else around to let you know makes it much easier to control.

5. Walk carrying books on your head

We've all seen the pictures of the little kids walking around with a heavy book on top of their heads. This actually works, to a point. Granted, you have to walk a bit odd in order to keep the book from sliding off, but at least you are walking with your head held high. Try this at home and see if you can successfully pull it off. It's actually kind of fun!

7 Tips on Gun Safety …

7 Tips on Gun Safety …

I'm not a huge fan of guns, but I'm not totally against them either. I think if a person is going to have a gun and use it correctly, then there shouldn't be any problems. Safety is the number one concern I have when it comes to guns. If you are looking into purchasing a gun of your own, then you might want to take a look at the 7 tips on gun safety I've discussed below. Feel free to pass them on to a friend or relative who might also be thinking about buying a gun.

7. Clean the gun regularly

A clean gun is less likely to jam and misfire or injure you. Make sure the gun is unloaded before attempting to clean it. There are many types of gun cleaning kits that can be purchased for different styles of pistols, rifles, and various other guns. Cleaning your gun should take place after it has been used many times and before using it after it has been in storage for a length of time.

6. Check to make sure the correct ammunition is being used

Ammunition is very clearly marked when you purchase it from a reliable source. It's always good to check your ammunition against the gun it is going to be used in. Using the wrong size of ammo can cause the gun to jam more often, can cause the barrel to bulge, or the gun could even break. Double check the ammo you are purchasing to make sure it is the correct size for your particular gun.

5. Wear ear and eye protection when shooting

This is meant mainly for range practice. Protective wear is usually worn during shooting practice because more shots are fired in a shorter period of time. Tinnitus can be caused by the sound of the shots being fired or debris can end up in the eyes. Protecting your eyes and ears is easy to do and doesn't take much time away from shooting practice.
