7 Delicious Foods with Vitamin C …

Dozens of scientific studies have proven that Vitamin C is one of the most effective nutrients, boosting our immune systems and protecting us from a range of conditions, from cardiovascular disease to stroke and cancer. But, aside from taking a pill, is there any other safe, efficient way to get Vitamin C? Yes! There are several foods that are rich in this miracle nutrient, and most of them are incredibly tasty! Here are 7 delicious foods with Vitamin C.

1. Guava

228 grams of Vitamin C per 100 grams

Did you know guava is a superfruit? In addition to being sweet and tropical, it's loaded with dietary fiber, vitamin A, folic acid, and copper, with more than four times the Vitamin C of an orange. How amazing! Chill on, peel it, dice the fruit and enjoy it just like that, or eat it Hawaiian style by dipping it in soy sauce and vinegar with a pinch of sugar and black pepper.

2. Kiwi

90 grams of Vitamin C per 100 grams

These sweet, tangy little treats are very rich in Vitamin C, and also have more potassium than a banana! I love the way they look sliced up in a fruit salad, and they're amazing with strawberries. The little black seeds give them an interesting texture… I only wish they were easier to peel.

3. Strawberry

60 grams of Vitamin C per 100 grams

Here's another delicious food with Vitamin C, even more per gram than an orange! And strawberries are so delicious… you can eat them fresh or in preserves and pies… or in smoothies! In fact, use fresh strawberries and orange juice with low-fat yogurt to make a smoothie… yum!

7 Reasons to Get an Unusual Pet …

7 Reasons to Get an Unusual Pet …

Ever thought about getting a really unusual pet? A pet snake, a spider or even a monkey? You know… something other than cats, dogs, gold fishes and parrots? I've always wanted to have a pet snake so the whole idea of exotic, unusual pets sounds very appealing to me. Now, I've never got it and I probably never will but I do have my reasons why having an extraordinary pet could be a fun, new and rewarding experience…

1. "Cool" factor

Getting a pet just because pets are "cool" isn't supposed to be the one and only reason, of course, but it sure makes a nice addition to all the following ones. If it's a spider, a snake or any one of those scary creatures, you could train it and even make public appearances. Cute and yet unusual pets like chinchillas, monkeys or squirrels are probably something most people find less intimidating and worth seeing so, if you opt for one of these, you and your pet will be an object of interest everywhere you go.

2. New experiences

Not all dogs and cats act the same, so you can only imagine how many new, interesting experiences and situations could come out of owning an exotic pet. The way it acts when it's hungry or scared, the times of day or night when it's most active, the way it expresses its affection for you – all of these behaviors are something totally new and unknown to you so having an unusual pet will be just as rewarding as having a traditional, ordinary one, if not even more.

3. Responsibility

Some exotic pets are very sensitive, others can even be dangerous so taking care of them isn't all fun and games – it's a really responsible "job" that could help you develop the skills you'll definitely find useful later in life. You will have to feed it special food, clean its "living space" and make sure it is not left to wander around unattended.

8 Cute Cardigans on the Cheap …

I adore cardigans; they are among my favorite articles of clothing, all year long. They make the perfect accent piece, and can be dressy or casual, depending on how you wear and accessorize them. Since spring is seriously deigning to make an appearance, I’m on the lookout for new pieces to add to my collection, and thought I would share some of these cute cardigans on the cheap – because the only thing I like better than shopping is saving money while I do it!

1. Ruffle Tier Cardigan

Ruffle Tier Cardigan
Price: $19.80 at forever21.com
There are tons of cute cardigans on the cheap, and Forever 21 has a lot of them. I like this one – which comes in purple or a delicious shade of delicate, shell pink – because of those ruffles. Thanks to that detail, this cardigan can be worn by itself, or it will make a great accent piece. Because of the color, it can also work in the office or on a date!

2. See Clearly Cardigan in Iris

See Clearly Cardigan in Iris
Price: $29.99 at modcloth.com
I love, love, love this cardigan, primarily because it is see through. You don’t see that kind of pretty, gauzy material very often. I love the color as well – iris is rarely seen, but it is so gorgeous. As it happens, however, you can also get this lightweight sweater in different colors as well, like a very pretty, sandy color.

3. Flying Solo Charcoal Belted Cardi

Flying Solo Charcoal Belted Cardi
Price: $36.99 at shopruche.com
The best part about finding cute cardigans on the cheap is coming across one you like so much, you’d actually pay twice as much for it – like this one! I love this so much. It, too, looks wonderfully light and gauzy, plus there’s a lining made of chiffon that peeks out from the bottom. I love charcoal as a medium between grey and black, and this is really just the bee’s knees. The cat’s pajamas. The dog’s tuxedo, even! (And props to anyone who gets the reference!)

7 Reasons I Love Living in an Apartment …

7 Reasons I Love Living in an Apartment …

It is perhaps true that for many people, the representation of the American dream is a self owned house. However, this dream is not for everyone and neither is living in the house. In today's fast and hectic life, many people prefer to live in an apartment rather than living in a house. Here are 7 reasons why I love living in an apartment.

1. Cost effective option

Gone are the days when it was possible to buy a house for a reasonable amount. These days the cost of real estate has sky rocketed. Whether you want to buy or rent, the option of choosing an apartment is sure to be more cost effective than choosing a house.

2. More security for residents

Most apartment complexes afford a good level of security to the people living in the buildings. They have guards posted at the gate as well as electronic surveillance. Also, a log of cars coming in and going out of the complex is typically maintained.

3. More amenities for the residents

Residents of apartment complexes also get to avail a number of amenities like swimming pool, common laundry, gym, etc. Residents can use these amenities free of cost and this leads to large savings over a period of time. It also saves a lot of travel time on a regular basis.

7 Fairtrade Garments …

The fashion industry can come across as one of excessive consumption and waste. As people become more wary of the ethical and environmental implications of such a consumer culture, alternative options are becoming more sought after. The fairtrade concept was designed to help producers in developing countries to create better trading conditions and promote sustainability. While it's not an instant fix to the injustices created by modern consumer culture, and the use of the 'fairtrade' label needs to be constantly regulated, buying fairtrade garments is certainly something to consider.

1. Iris Skirt by Annie Greenabelle

Iris Skirt by Annie Greenabelle
Price: $64.00 at us.topshop.com
As far as fairtrade garments go, this skirt is a very fashionable choice. It is made from fairtrade and organic cotton and is a lovely 'duck egg' colour. It features a paper-bag waist and a matching slim tie-belt. This skirt could be the starting point for many an outfit. Tuck in a cotton singlet and slip on some sandals for something fun and casual, or dress it up with a glitzy top, blazer, and patent wedges.

2. Moto Fairtrade Bleach Was Denim Hotpants

Moto Fairtrade Bleach Was Denim Hotpants
Price: $65.00 at us.topshop.com
These denim shorts are made from fairtrade cotton. The bleached denim creates a soft, faded finish. They feature a double turned hem, zip fly with button, and stitch pocket detailing. Despite being made from fairtrade materials, it is not indicated whether they were produced under fairtrade conditions. This kind of uncertainty can be common when researching fairtrade garments.

3. Nancy Splatter Fair Trade Organic Dress

This dress has an eye-catching splatter print design. The black and red colour combination is bold and lively. This dress features a draped neck, capped sleeves, and sits mid-thigh. This dress would look terrific worn as is, or paired with black tights and leather ankle boots.

7 Relationship Disasters …

7 Relationship Disasters …

Relationship disasters strike at any moment, if we allow them to. When they strike, it could mean the end of a relationship and it will definitely cause a bump in the road. Let me give you 7 relationship disasters you should avoid …

7. Not Giving Your Partner Room

Yes, there is a time to spend time together and I know that you really enjoy doing this, but there is also times where the two of you need to be apart. I have heard of many relationships going downhill simply because the guy or the girl did not give their partner enough room. It is common to want to have some time to yourself. If they request that "room," you should not take it the wrong way. If you do, this could become a relationship disaster. Of course, you do not have to worry, but if they start to spend more and more time away from you, then you may want to bring it up.

6. Storming Out of the Room

I am not a big one for storming out of the room. What if that is the last time you are going to see the person? Do you want it all to end with storming out of the room? I know a couple of people who lost someone right after they stormed out of the room – that is a relationship disaster in my book.

5. Not Showing That You Care

In every relationship, you will need to show the individual that you care. There are different ways to do it and those ways should never get old. Giving handmade gifts, making them a nice dinner, taking them out to eat and spending some time with them is some ways to show that you care. When you are truly in love with someone, showing them that you care will just come natural.

Must Have: Katy Perry OPI Nail Lacquer!

Where have I been? In January of this year, pop star Katy Perry released a new line of nail polish with OPI… and it’s fabulous!

The line includes four gorgeous shades and a top coat with a “crackle” effect that, when applied over a dry coat of nail polish, gives it a unique, almost leopard-print texture. I’m sure this was in the news… how did I miss it?

The colors include Teenage Dream (bubble gum pink glitter), The One That Got Away (shimmering raspberry), Not Like the Movies (sleek silver), and Last Friday Night (glittery cobaly blue). The “crackle” top coat is called Black Shatter. The entire line is gorgeous… I love love LOVE that “crackle” effect!

Have you tried any of these? If not, which one of these OPI polishes by Katy Perry will you try first?

Happy Birthday, Claire!

Happy Birthday, Claire!

Today is the birthday of actress Claire Danes.

Danes, best known and loved (at least by me!) for her role as Angela Chase in the short-lived but marvelous series “My So-Called Life,” is 31 today. She was also wonderful as Yvain in the 2007 movie “Stardust” and as the ill-fated Juliet in “Romeo + Juliet.”

Happy birthday, Claire!

Congratulations, Tori and Dean!

Congratulations, Tori and Dean!

In a tweet last night, Tori Spelling announced that she’s expecting! How exciting!

This will be the third child for Spelling and her husband, Dean McDermott. In the tweet, she acknowledges that there have been some pregnancy rumors floating around:

“I know there’s been a lot of speculation, so I wanted everyone to hear from me… Its official…Dean & I are PREGNANT!”

The baby is due this fall. Stay tuned for baby bump photos, baby name guessing, and more! Congratulations, Tori and Dean!
