7 Common Style Related Injuries … Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:45 AM PDT 'Beauty is pain' a wise person once said and sometimes, it seems, this really is true. I've done a little research on the topic, and it turns out we do suffer in the name of looking good. Here's a list of 7 common style-related injuries; any of them look familiar to you? 1. Hair Straightener BurnsIf you've got straighteners I'm pretty sure this has happened to you in the past. Even with the state of the art, salon grade appliance, it's still possible to lose focus and bring the plates in contact with your skin. Obviously, if the burn is serious you should seek medical help, but usually, in my experience, it's pretty minor. Ice it, and apply a soothing gel. 2. Ankle SprainsSometimes the term 'killer heels' is unpleasantly apt. All it takes is one missed step in a pair of stilettos and you could be hobbling around on crutches for weeks to come. It's not only ankles that are in danger of injury – a bad tumble caused by precarious shoes might leave you with a whole range of bruises and scrapes. 3. Waxing CrisesAfter-wax rash can be a real problem, especially if you've had the hair taken off a very sensitive area like your underarms or your bikini line. Most of the time, the redness and irritation will subside. If it doesn't, chances are you have an infection so it's probably a good idea to get the skin checked out by a pro.
| Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:29 AM PDT Leather is usually reserved for shoes, jackets, and bags. Lately, however, leather shirts have been popping up on runways and in stores. It's a high fashion approach at re-inventing the classic t-shirt. While the look is quite expensive and will set you back a couple of hundred dollars at least, it is a trend to take inspiration from. Take a look at a few luxe leather shirts below. 1. 3.1 Phillip Lim Collared Leather Halterneck Top
2. IRO Ron Zipped Suede Top
3. 3.1 Phillip Lim Laser Cut Top

8 Things that Make You Waste Your Money … Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:26 AM PDT Everybody wastes a ton of money every single day, and I’m willing to be that, half the time, you don’t even know it. All the same, there are so many things that make you waste your money, some of which are obvious, and others of which are subtler and more insidious. Money leaks out like water in a broken faucet if you aren’t careful – but by keeping an eye out, you can start saving right away. 1. Buying NewThere are some things people don’t need to buy new, and even shouldn’t, but they do anyway. I’m not talking about things like mattresses or anything, but for an example, if you’re into retro or vintage, you can buy it firsthand – or secondhand, rather, instead of spending a fortune on some new style that’s only mimicking the fashion. More importantly, don’t knock used cars. There are some lemons out there, sure, but there are plenty of good ones, and they can help you save on car insurance as well. 2. Paying for Your MoneyI don’t know about you, but I live by ATM. Anytime I need cash, there I am. ATMs are definitely big things that make you waste your money, though. However, that’s not true for all of them. What you need to do is look for the ones that don’t have a surcharge – and they are out there, I promise. It’s stupid to have to pay a fee so that you can get money that already belongs to you. 3. Impulse BuysI myself waste so much money on impulse buys, it’s ridiculous. I’m not even talking about the candy and junk at the check-out lines. I’ll see a dress that looks cute, even though I rarely wear dresses, and I just have to buy it – then I never wear it. Think long and hard about your purchases. Are you buying things that make you waste your money, things you’ll never actually use?
7 Ways To Get Out Of A Mugging … Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:09 AM PDT A mugging can be a very traumatic experience apart from also resulting in loss of money and valuable belongings. There are many precautions you can take to avoid being mugged, but of all these precautions fail and you find yourself face to face with a mugger, here are 7 ways to get out of a mugging. 1. Make a callIf you are afraid that the person approaching you could pose a threat, take your mobile phone out and make a call to someone who is close by. Make sure you can be heard and say loudly and clearly that you may be in trouble. Most muggers will stay clear if they think you can give their description to someone on the phone. 2. Call 911If you go beyond doubt and are absolutely certain that you are on the verge of being mugged, call 911 while you can. Make sure you can be heard loud and clear and state your location and the fact that you are in fear for your life. 3. Run towards crowded areasIf you are close enough to a crowded place like a café and you are absolutely certain that you can outrun your would-be mugger, then you may want to make a run for it. However, if you are not so sure about being able to get away, then the best way to get out of a mugging is not to antagonize the mugger.
Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:51 AM PDT Many people believe that twins can be double the effort and double the trouble. On the other hand, there are those who think twins are a blessing in disguise because both babies get taken care of at the same time and they grow up understanding love and sharing. We are always curious to know how celebrities handle the same issues in life. Here is a list of 7 famous couples with twins. You know how it turned out for them. 1. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew BroderickSarah Jessica Parker had twin daughters on June 22, 2009 with husband of 12 years, Matthew Broderick. They already had a 6 year old son when the twins arrived. However, Sarah went on to play her role in the series as well as the movie 'Sex in the City'. Broderick also manages to continue his work unhindered. 2. Angelina Jolie and Brad PittThis is probably the most famous couple with twins as well as a brood of other children. The twin boy and girl follow 3 adopted children and one biological daughter into the Jolie/Pitt family. The couple revels in the number of children they have and all the kids seem to be getting the right amount of attention and care. 3. Jennifer Lopez and Marc AnthonyJennifer and Anthony were married in 2004 and after 4 years of marriage were blessed with a boy/girl twin. Max and Emme made their debut public appearance in People magazine when they were just a month old.
7 Home Remedies for Diarrhea … Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:40 AM PDT Diarrhea is not only horrible to experience, but it can be a nuisance as well. I've tried my fair share of home remedies and found a few do actually work. The 7 home remedies for diarrhea posted below are a combination of methods I've used and one's I've found online. I hope you can find some that work for you, should you ever need them. 7. Amla tea or supplemental capsuleAmla is also known as Indian gooseberry. The fresh juice from this luscious berry is extremely beneficial as a diarrhea remedy. The juice can be mixed with a little bit of sugar and lemon juice to improve the taste. If you don't want to bother trying to doctor the taste of this juice, then it would be easier to purchase some Amla supplements. These capsules are sold at most health food stores. 6. Ginger and boiling waterMix boiling water with freshly ground ginger root and drink a half cup of this concoction every hour. Ginger is great for an upset stomach, digestive cramping, and it also has properties that help reduce inflammation. Powdered ginger can be used in place of fresh ginger, but you'll only have to use half as much, due to its higher concentration. 5. Cayenne, ginger, and lemonCombine a quarter teaspoon of cayenne powder, a half teaspoon of ginger juice or a quarter teaspoon of powdered ginger, and a half teaspoon of lemon juice. You can add some honey to this mix if you prefer it to be a bit sweeter. Drink this mix twice a day. Don't use this diarrhea remedy if you are sensitive to spicy food.
Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:37 AM PDT Gossips are mean, hurtful, often only half-truth and, unfortunately, a lot of fun. And gossiping… well, it's like eating a whole chocolate bar – it's good while it lasts and then you start feeling guilty because you know better than that. Can we give it up? Is there a pattern, a procedure or some tips for giving up gossip? Well, believe it or not, there are! So, if you're dying to finally get rid of this habit, here are 7 tips for giving up gossip that should help you do it! 1. Recognize the emotionNow, you're probably wondering why am I making this the first of all seven tips for giving up gossip once and, hopefully, for all. Well, let me tell you why! Because I believe there are no such things as good gossips and bad gossips, although a lot of people tend to tell themselves good gossips exist. People you feel the need to gossip about are the ones you a) envy, b) hate or c) feel intimidated by. Now, those are some pretty bad feelings… human but, nevertheless, bad. so, next time you open your mouth to gossip, ask yourself this – What makes me feel the need to gossip? Is it hate? Envy? What? 2. Explore the emotionOkay, there are some girls I refuse to gossip about although I feel the need to. But, let's discuss all those feelings that makes us resort to gossips. Let's say I realize I'm about to gossip somebody I hate. That person did something bad to me and we're not friends. Okay – now, would I really want to waste my time and nerves on somebody who doesn't deserve it? Of course not! Moving on to envy! Now, envy is an exceptional motive for gossip, I bet we all know that. But is that person really better and, if it is, could that just be our own fault? Gossip will not make us better, just more bitter.

Health Alert! 17% of Adult Americans Have This Virus! Posted: 15 Apr 2011 01:26 PM PDT According to a study conducted at the University of Washington, 17% of all Americans aged 14 to 49 have the herpes simplex virus 2 (genital herpes)… and of them, 85% are not aware of it. Yikes! If this sounds too bizarre to be true, let me add that, according to the same study, that 85% are unaware they’re infected because they don’t experience the symptoms most of us expect from herpes — giant painful sores on the genital area. Most of the time, that’s not how herpes simples virus 2 presents itself. Often, the symptoms are slight burning or pain for a week or so, then… nothing for a few months… then slight burning or pain for a week or so… you get the idea. Since the symptoms are so vague, and could so easily be diagnosed (or self-diagnosed) as something else, that shocking 85% (of the 17% of the general adult population) don’t know they’re infected. This is horrible for three main reasons. First, if you don’t know you’re infected, you’re likely spreading the virus to your partner(s). Even if you correctly use a condom every time you have sex, it only decreases the spread of the disease by 25-50%. It’s also terrible not to know of an infection because being infected with herpes simplex virus 2 increases your chances of contracting the HIV/AIDS virus two or three times over. Last, if you’re pregnant, and don’t know you’re infected, you could pass the virus on to your baby. According to public health officials, if you’re sexually active, you should request a herpes simples virus 2 blood test as a part of your annual exam. Yes, there is a social stigma associated with the virus, but that pales in comparison to the embarrassment, pain, and potentially deadly consequences of NOT knowing you’re infected.
